  1. Ok, so It's been several months since I've visited my page or been compliant with my lap-band. I've been so off track since December. I had lost 83 pounds in 8 months and since December I've gained 27 pounds back! I've been pigging out on slidder foods or "eating around the band" as my surgeon calls it. I haven't even been to see my surgeon since October because I'm embarrassed about my weight gain. I feel like a complete looser and physically feel worse than when I weighed 323 pounds. I'm not sure how to start over or get serious again but I'm definitely going to try. I need to place my focus back on me. I have a treadmill, elipictal, free weights and an exercise bike in the guest room collecting dust! I'm making a public and personal committment right now to get back to being on track. If anyone has experienced anyone like this or has any suggestions on assisting me in my struggle please don't hesitate to comment or e-mail me.

Congrats! I honestly hope I'm in your shoes in a couple of months. Send me baby dust. LOL
  3. I'm exactly in your place. Banded 12/21/10, down 71 lbs and still feel extremely fat. I'm rejoicing in my victory though. I've went from a 26 in pants to a 22. I'm able to wear heels again. I can move so much better. Life is getting better in general because I'm starting to enjoy it again. It's actually happening for you. 70 pounds is huge! Imagine someone handing you 14 five pound bags of sugar to carry around. That's how much you've lost! It's awesome.
  4. Ok, so I was banded Dec 21, 2010. Did awesome at the rate of 9-10 pounds a month until about a month and a half ago. Now I'm gaining and loosing the same 10 pounds. I don't think I need a fill. I'm still struggling with episodes of vomiting if I each a food that I have difficulty tolerating. I'm too scared to get another fill at this point. I've got 3.5 cc in a 10 cc band. I really think I'm good on that end of it. I believe that the weight basically melted off the first 4 months without much effort on my part. Now I'm gonna have to work for it. I've just recently joined a gym. I know, I know, I need to exercise. Have to admit I haven't been at all. Plus, I sometimes eat foods that I know will stay down and are easy on my stomach. Foods we as bandsters shouild never have.....ice cream, chips, crunchy things. Yes, I know that's considered eating around the band. But as of today, for whatever reason, my perspective has changed. I get it. I really do. I've just been taking advantage that restriction was enough to get the weight loss started but now that's no longer enough I'm going to have to utilize my band as the "tool" necessary for successful weight loss. I've got a greater goal as well. I'm 39, will be 40 in September, and I want to have another baby. My fertility doctor refuses to aggressively treat me until I'm down to at least 230. So, I've got 39 pounds to go. 4 months if I really kick some lap band ass, which I totally plan to do. No more foods that anyone, especially bandsters, trying to loose weight shouldn't eat. No more snacking, protein first. I've been lacking in the protein department for months now. I bet I don't even get 20 grams of protein daily. I know it's horrible. Time for a new perspective and a new lease on my new life. I've been given a second chance at having a healthy life. I realize that now. I can see a significant difference since my starting weight of 323. 58 pounds makes a huge difference. Not so much in clothes just yet. When you wear a size 24-26 you can basically wear that size for amout 40 pounds either way. I've just recently bought a nice 22 in jeans. Haven't seen that size in a very long time. Thrilled about it. It's smaller and leaner from here on. Yeah, I'm just tooting my own horn but If I'm not gonna do it, who will?
  5. Thank you to everyone who shared their stories. My husband and I have been TTC for 3 years and 1 month. I had a tubal reversal in March 2008 shortly after our wedding. I was banded on Dec 21, 2010 and have since lost 55 pounds. Great accomplishment for 5 1/2 months! Weight loss has almost stopped over the past month though. I started at 323 lbs and my fertility doctor will not proceed with IUI or IVF until my weight at least 230, so that's another 35 lbs before fertility treatments begin. If I continued with 10 lbs a month that should bring me to OCT/NOV. Gosh I hope so. See, I'll be 40 in September and I have 2 adult children and a grandson. My husband has no biological children and we desire a family so bad. My biological clock has almost ran out. We have 2 years and 3 months before we are no longer eligible for IUI or IVF in Florida. That's pretty much the cut off date. So, it's crunch time. Time to get very serious about this weight loss, excercise and getting my overweight body ready for a pregnancy. Pray for me and send me all the baby dust you can, LOL. Thanks again for sharing and keep me posted everyone!!
  6. My surgeon requires 3 weeks of striaght liquids pre op and then two weeks post op. 5 weeks only liquids. I understand your frustruation. Trust me. I'm on day 1.
  7. Congrats to you!! I'm at 301 pounds and being banded in Dec. I've been going through the 7 month pre cert process for my insurance. I'm down 22 pounds and hopefully I'll be where you're at next year.:rolleyes2:
  8. Did you have any infertility problems prior to being banded? I'm 39 and having a very difficult time TTC. My OB/GYN thinks the weight has EVERTHING to do with it. I'm being banded in Dec. How long afer being banded did you get preggers?
  9. You waited the customary "one year" post banding to get preggers. I think you'll do just fine. As long as the doctors are monitoring the baby's growth and developement you shouldn't worry so much. I know that's much easier said than done but just try to relax a little and enjoy your pregnancy. I'm 301 and hope to be banded in Dec. I'm trying to have a baby, my last child is 21 year old. Ya, I'm crazy, my current husband doesn't have kids. So, hopefully I'll be having a band baby as well. Good luck and you're in my prayers.
  10. I've been told the same thing by my surgeon. I'm only 3 months from being banded as well. Hopefully Dec. I've lost 23 pounds so far. Keep loosing and gaining the same 6 pounds lately. I'm so excited to start this journey just scared of what life will be like when I'm not the fattest person in the room anymore. Anyone feel nervous about shedding all of this?
  11. Shay, congrats on your baby! I've been trying for so long and I'm truly convinced it's just the weight. Has to be. I'm terrified and embarrassed at just the though of being pregnant at my current weight. I'll be 40 years and 4 months old at my year anniversary of being banded. I've seen several replies from ladies my age and older that are getting pregnant fairly easy after the band. I pray that will be me. Baby dust to everyone trying and wish me luck. Only 11 weeks until I'm banded!!
  12. Yep, egg quality is great. Sperm count is awesome. Two HSGs shows my right tube in occluded but the left is healthy and clear. All my labs are perfect. Had a polypectomy 6 months ago, quite a large polyp was removed. So technically I'm supposed to count how long it's been since that procedure. I'm actually on my way to my bariatric surgeons office today. Only two more visits before being banded. I'm sooo scard and nervous about having the band because of fear that I'll have "productive burps" in public. I'm actually terrified of that. Anyone having problems with vomiting in public???
  13. My surgeon actually does the 6 month pre surgery weight management, psych eval and nutritional consult in his office. He's amazing. I've been going to monthly visits for 4 months. Just two more visits! Hopefully my surgery will be in December. All depends on how fast insurance pre approves. My surgeon says if I follow the program he's never had someone denied for precertification. Wish me luck.
  14. Thanks so much for all the replies. I totally understand about waiting a year after banding. It's just that I turned 39 on Sunday. I'm afraid if I wait till Dec. to be banded and then wait another year I will have lost my chance at being a mother again. So many decisions. I've actually considered forgetting about getting banded and just go for the baby. I'm 301 pounds and 5'6 so I'm terrible overweight. Being a nurse I'm well aware of the complications that can be involved in being obese and pregnant. UGH!! Patience is not one of my greatest virtues.
  15. Me and my new husband on 2 1/2 year have been trying to conceive since my tubal reversal in March 2008. No luck. Fertility specialist finds nothing wrong with either of EXCEPT my weight of 282 lbs. She tells me all of the complications that can go wrong at that weight and being preggers. Well, depression and guilt left me at 323 lbs. Finally I decided to have LAP-BAND®® surgery. I've just had my 4th of 7 visits with my surgeon. Only 3 more visits before insurance will approve me. Wish me luck. Down 22 lbs so far with will power and the help of the monthly support groups my surgeon has. Long and short of it. I will be having my band in December and will start IUIs in Jan-Feb. Anyone else had any luck getting pregnant shortly after banding?
