Just out of curiosity, what is a sample menu for you Kim? What are you eating? I'm struggling to get my protein.

I will grab some. The problem is I am sick of sweet stuff. The protein drinks are sweet, everything is.

Zom, It takes me all day and night to drink a cup that I used to refill 6-7 times a day. It blows my mind.

I can feel things go down, too. They sit for a moment and then a gurgle and it goes down. I noticed it the first week. Now it doesn't always happen. I am supposed to just be on creamy liquids but I've kind of branched out a little to hummus and very soft cheese. The cheese didn't go down the way I thought it should so I didn't finish it. I had hummus for dinner and it was amazing. I don't let myself have more than 2 oz of hummus or mashed potatoes at a time. I was oked to eat pudding and the hummus just has way more nutritional value and is close in consistency. I did break down and have some frosting from a cupcake today. Yuck. It made me feel so sick. I got sweaty and felt horrible. No thanks. I have some left side abdominal pain, right near the incision. From what I understand, it is normal. But it seems to be worse now than it was after surgery. I also would like to go poopoo, for your information. This has been the longest week ever. I'm exhausted. I can see why people take a few weeks off. I love you guys. I may not always be responding to each post but I am reading and keeping up. I hope nnegrete gets an avocado.

Im with nnegrete. I just want to eat something. To be honest, which i will be, even if it is not popular opinion, I did push the limits a bit today. I work at a school and I was offered no less than 8 treats today. I ended up having some frosting from the top of a cupcake. It was a big mistake. I felt sick from it. I'm supposed to just be at creamy liquids. I'm not sure what I can and can't have with that but last night I enjoyed 2 oz of hummus with some garlic salt as my dinner. I thought I was in heaven. I tried a laughing cow cheese (well a bite) but it didn't go down well. I have been enjoying 1 to 2 oz of very liquidy mashed potatoes. I can officially start soft foods in 2 days.

Kim! I am loving my new job. I am happy that I started a new job at this time because I am establishing healthy habits that will be always be in place. It's a lot easier than always joining in on office goodies and then all the sudden saying no.

I'm so glad you updated, Claire! You too, Zom. I can never remember exactly what your user name is so I'm calling you Zom. I'm glad everyone is doing so well. I'm relieved. I was more worried for you all than I realized. I am doing really well. I'm only consuming around 200-300 calories a day. I sip fluids continuously. I've struggled with not being able to eat dinner with my family. Not because I felt hungry but because I wanted the food. I have lost 8 pounds as of today. I feel like it could be more but I'm a little constipated. TMI but the truth.

I used Muscle Milk powder in the blender with ice and unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Yum yum! Sometimes I added a scoop of peanut butter. I enjoyed it. I know the preop diet is a pain. My one big piece of advice is do it. I truthfully didn't stick to mine and the adjustment to NO food and NO choice about it is very hard. If I had followed the preop diet better, this hurdle would be partially jumped over.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I couldn't pass it up. I have wanted a secretary position at a school for a while for several reasons. Mostly because it allows me to have balance for work and my kiddos. I have been a substitute teacher this year and I feel lucky to have something full time with benefits.

I'm so sorry for your news. I hope another sibling matches. Don't beat yourself up over the cookies. Soon you will have a tool the won't give you the choice of cheating or not. Continue to try to diet but don't get down on yourself for enjoying some cookies.

I started my new job today and had a great day. I was taking too big of a sip and that was why I had all the discomfort. I am thinking of you. You'll do great. I can't wait to hear more about your journey!!! It is a lot to take on and I know you're nervous. But the new healthy you is going to be worth it all!

Thanks for starting this thread!!! Awesome weigh-in! Congrats! I also went back to work today. It was actually my first day of my new job as a school secretary. This is a big year of change!

anyone told to get a compression garment?
I was provided one by my surgeon and it was very helpful in recovery.

I'm struggling through my food stages. I think all my esophagus issues are that I am taking too big of a drink. Tomorrow I start creamy liquids and I don't have an idea what that really even means for me.

I bet you feel so much better about it all by then. It is sad, though. Claire is right. It's like you're all ready for it and then...nothing. That is disappointing and hard to swallow. It's ok to be bummed about it. At least you know it's still going to happen.

I burp a lot too!!! I'm telling you it's like something is constantly sitting in my esophagus. I hate it! I hope you get released tomorrow!! you're gonna do great!

Today I felt more normal than I have all week. I spent most of the day out of the house, I Cooke's dinner for my family and hung out with the kids rather than drift in and out of napping most of the day. How are you?
