Hi ElishaV, For a minute as I read your post I thought you were writing my story! I was banded on Oct 4th 2010 and during the first 6 weeks I lost 33 lbs. I was SUPER EXCITED about that  Then came Thanksgiving and I discovered all the things that I could eat and also discovered that my will power was MIA. Well, I've been searchin for Mr. Will Power and just cant find it. I get on this site lookin for motivation and inspiration. It's a great site. I've been doin much better than before but I wont weigh myself until i go in for my 2nd fill on the 25th this month. Come on you!!! Get back to it :smile2:

Hey Blueberry Girl, I remember those first few weeks when even just chicken broth tasted like a gourmet meal I loved the soup stage too! Someone else told me about a really thick protein powder too but the ones I've tried have not been thick. I think I'll check out trader joes too. I shop at a super fantastic Walmart in Santa clarita too, it's the one on Carl Boyer...love it there!

Hi Blueberry Girl. My dr is Dr. Korman. He is w/ Marina Del Rey Hospital. They are a great bunch!!! :smile2: The nurse that cared for me after surgery could not say enough about getting in ALL my protein!!! I have tried lots and the easiest for me to get down is EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control. They have 3 flavors and I think the Chocolate is best.(i get mine @ Walmart cuz they 're cheaper) There is also an unflavored protein powder by Pure Protein(GNC) that you can use in anything. I also found Protein Shots.(also Walmart) they have 30 grams of protein in just a 3 oz tube.(thats half of whats recommended daily) :wink2: Protein does help with the healing and helps you you feel better but what really made me start getting in all my protein was that when you go thru weight loss and your body doesnt get enough protein you can start to lose hair. I really didnt think I would be affected in that way because I have always had lots and lots of thick hair. After several weeks I started noticing at shower time when washing my hair I was losing lots of hair. My hair was getting noticeably thinner. That was the fire under my butt!!! :target: Now i try to get in at least 80 grams of protein and it helps me lose better too. I eat lots of chicken breast and fat free refried beans (w/cheese n tapatio they taste like the ones from Taco Bell) As you go along you will find what works best for you but DO ALWAYS get all your protein in!!!

Hi Blueberry Girl. Congrats on the new band!!! :)I've been banded for a few months now and still getting used to the things I can and cant eat. The band is a great tool. (I have to keep reminding myself it's a tool) Many people think that WLS is an easy, quick fix.... it's SO not!!! It's still hard work but if you stay motivated you'll have great success! In my first 6 weeks I lost 33 lbs. and I'm fitting into clothes that were hanging in the BACK of the closet (thats where all the stuff that doesnt fit anymore goes) I'm also in LA. Who was your doc and where'd you get banded?

Omg....flappy arms
Thanks for the tip!!! I will certainly try those!!! Also I'm getting some arm trimmers from Curves that you wrap around your arms. between the two maybe I cn get the flappin a bit under control. [

- Pound for Pound challenge group!! Give back with the band!!!
I tried and the same thing happened but I scrolled thru the team names and found Bandgivesback then I joined and registered. I think it worked.- Lack of Support from family and friends...
Awww, I really hate to read stories like these because it's true that unless you've been in our shoes you really cant imagine how hard it is!!! My husband used to catch me crying about my weight and he would tell me that he would love me fat or thin (made me feel good) but i didnt love myself. If you want this, GIRL, JUST DO YOU!!!!! If you do this and it makes you healthy and happy everything else will fall into place. Good Luck - Headache And Sleepy All the time
Hey you, sorry you're feeling so crappy I started getting headaches and feeling crappy around day 5. On the morning of day 6, I woke up head hurtin, feeling lite headed, and pretty shakey. Called the doc and i was told my sugar was down. they said to eat just a little yogurt to bring myself back and it worked but those couple days were not cool at all!!! And I think the tired all the time feeling I had was just because I was at home w/nothin to do and maybe feeling kinda lazy too - 2 weeks ago I was 227lbs now im 240!!!! HELP
Awwww, I know you are a bit upset and discouraged. Dont be down on yourself!!! We all will or have fallen before and this may not be the last time but it sounds like you've gotten up and brushed yourself off NOW GET YOUR REAR IN GEAR AND GET BACK TO IT!!! (said w/luv of course)- Newbie...Surgery confirmed 11/22/2010
Hey, Welcome to the journey!!! :rolleyes2: You have landed on a great site!! So much info and so many supportive people. I look foward to seeing your future posts of your progress. Good luck to you- Just Banded
Nice job so far!!:rolleyes2: I was banded on Oct 4th and was so so tired of chicken and refried beans Here is a website for "US" that has lots of great recipes. http://pouchfriendly.com i have had to change some of them up a bit to fit into the stage i'm in but are lots of great ones!!! I'm gettin on now to see what's for dinner.- Best thing for scars???
LOL... that was such I guy thing to say. My hubby told me to say that. Love it!!!- Jumping on the bandwagon?
Ok, when you get to the point that you are depressed about your weight all the time and hate what you see in the mirror, it's time to do something for yourself. I was so so depressed and had tried EVERY DIET!!!!:tt2: It's just something that people that are not overweight just don't understand. Before I had LAP-BAND® done I thought it was the easy way out too. Well I definately have a different outlook on weight loss surgery now. It is really not the easy way. LAP-BAND® is a wonderful tool but you still have to be dedicated to a lifestyle change. If you choose LAP-BAND® your family will be with you when they see how happy and healthy you are becoming!!! Put you first and everything else will fall into place!!! Good luck to you!!!!- Lost Control - Need support/tough love
COME ON Y'ALL!!!!Get a hold of yourselves.:mad2: We can do this! :frown: This is the HARDEST time of the year and it's just gonna take a whole lot of will power just one craving at a time!!! If you can just think of where you will be in a few months if you just try harder to stick with it. There are huge rewards ahead for turning your back on those NASTY FAT FOODS!!!! (as I'm typing I'm also trying to convince myself ) Jump back in and remember to picture yourself shopping for cute little clothes in the REGULAR store, and doing all the fun things that we usually hide from or haven't been able to do. Come on, we knew the job would be hard when we took it!!!- just starting my new life
Hello and welcome to the journey!!! Week 1 was was truly HELL week! Week 2 was much much better. My Doc allowed cottage cheese (which I am not a huge fan of) I put some vanilla yogurt in mine to make it taste a bit better. I also ate lots of Slip Pea soup that week. I would say my main staple during week 2 was protein drinks, broth, yogurt, cottage cheese, split pea soup and i cheated with some hummus. I was not too hungry that week and would get full quickly so that week was not too bad. You'll be past this stage so quickly!!! These hell weeks will be just a distant memory:smile2: Good luck- Needing to find a happy medium.
We know all to well how hard this journey is!!!! We are all coming from the same place (obesity) I am always discovering foods that i CAN eat without making myself sick which make this all the harder. I'm sure I could eat that McRib sandwich and a few fries if I wanted to but I made a decision before surgery that I had had enough. Enough watching my clothes get toooooo tight :scared2:and enough sitting on the side of the pool because I was tooooo embarrassed to wear shorts (let alone a swim suit) and tired of just feeling like I was busting out of my skin while sitting on the couch. What is really scary is, how do you think you will feel in a couple more months when your body is not getting enough nutrients/protein to keep your hair from falling out or when your complexion starts to lose it's color and you start looking ill. You have a wonderful tool!!! Some people who so desperately need it cant even get it. Don't let your chance to make yourself healthy go without a fight!!!! You are worth more than all that fast food. Take advantage of this and make it work for you. It's not just about losing weight, It's about getting healthy - Newbie in MKE, Dec 2 surgery
Hi Nicole, I was banded on Oct 4th and this was the best thing I've ever done for myself. I too thought about having the FLAPPIES but decided I'd cross that bridge when i get to it. I'm just so excited about getting to a heatlhy weight and knowing I'm on my way to buying regular clothes in a regular store!!! Welcome to the journey and Good Luck- Banded 2006-I hate my band
Welcome back Season :smile2: There is so so much info on the band now every DO and DONT I've thought of is somewhere here at this site. This site is AWESOME. So many supportive people with great advise. Now that you've renewed your band vows I'm sure you'll do great!!! You'rea already 10 lbs down, that's a really good start.- W-W-W-W-Wonderland!!!
YAY You!!!! Congrats... that has to feel so so great!!! I'm hoping to see that soon too.- Omg....flappy arms
Ok, I do have to agree that Flappy is better than Fatty!!!! I will try to flap with pride, I guess it's something like wearing War Wounds. But getting Oprah to clip our wings would be a wonderful idea!!! I'm sure she's flapped a few times herself. LOL. Hey congrats on being 10 lbs away from goal!!!!! Nice job. - Pound for Pound challenge group!! Give back with the band!!!
