  1. LOL... you are too funny!!! Well, I guess I too can practice not clapping over my head but the not wearing tank tops puts a damper on my "cute little summer clothes" vision.
  2. Some things are really beautiful flapping in the wind!!! The different color leaves on the trees, a crisp new flag but never quite pictured my arms flapping in the wind to be such a great sight :sneaky: What exercises do you do for arms???
  3. Hello Y'all, This morning I discovered...dah dah daahhh.. FLAPPY ARMS :w00t: I've lost under 20 lbs. and since that's really not that much weight, I thought that I would have time to plan my attack on them before they showed up. But surprise, surprise :ohmy:THEY ARE HERE!!!! I think I'm getting the hint now that I really should start doin a little more than just walk. :sneaky: What are some good excercises for the FLAPPY ARM SYNDROME?
  4. Awww, hang in there. Try to walk more that may help you. I tried just little sips of broth at a time (cold stuff kinda bothered me) and started to feel better towards day 5-6. I told the hubby when I reached goal, we were goin to Puerto Rico to renew our wedding vows and thoughts of the skinny me on the beach in that cute little sundress got me through a lot of the post-op pain  I hope you're feeling better soon!!!!
  5. That's just TERRIFIC!!!!! OMG I cant wait to see that too. Keep up the good work
  6. I had really bad gas pains in my shoulders and neck for the first week. I was a peppermint tea drinking fool(tea helps gas) and walked a lot!!!! Then week 2 my port was feeling kinda funky for a few days but towards the end of week 2 I started to feel pretty good. (although I didnt let the fam know because they were doing the house work while I wasnt feeling well) You'll be past this before you know it!!! Just keep thinkin of replacing all the Black Knit you've got going on in your closet with cute little clothes. That works for me. I have a similar wardrobe  Come on jigglebutt.... you will feel better soon!!!!
  7. Way to go!!!! :thumbup:Thanks for posting. You meeting your goals is an inspiration to others. I'm looking foward to being able to Post my first goal. Keep up the good work:thumbup:
  8. I was banded on Oct 4 and I didnt really feel to much soreness at first then I started to feel this stinging kinda pain that would come at random times. That freaked me out!!! The doc told me that was just my port healing and getting a little tug here and there. Someone suggested I use a heating pad and that really worked for me. Doc told me little by little I would feel it less then just forget about it. And a few days later I realized that I hadn't felt it again. I hope you're feeling better really soon.
  9. Hey Shorty, so today is your day. You will probably already have had surgery when you read this. My surgery went really well!!! I had surgery on monday 10/4 and stayed in the hospital overnite but only because my insurance required it. It was good because I did some Band-Bonding with a few others that also got banded on that same day. I really had no abdominal pain only gas pain in my shoulder and neck. Walking and peppermint tea really helped to relieve the pain. That lasted just a few days. By the end of the week I felt normal again. Week 1 for me was hard because of the liquid diet and trying to get down all those protein drinks. The drinks that I use are the ones made by EAS-Advant-Edge CarbControl. They are in all the stores and have 3 flavors. I like the strawberry and chocolate fudge best. Well I'm starting to ramble on. I'm sure you too will recover soon after surgery and when that part is behind you, you will be so very happy you made this decision!!!! Good Luck and lets chat soon
  10. Hey Y'all, I was banded on Oct 4th and I have been wanting to attend a group support meeting. I am looking for something in the Pasadena/Sylmar areas (or anywhere in between) Does anyone know where there's a good meetin goin on???
  11. LOL... That's funny. My husband decided he wanted an Ice Cream Cone from Micky Ds and wouldn't you know it.... that big ole sign announcing that MY MOST FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD was back! Oh the sadness. I'm only 3 weeks post op, there's no way I could have even tried to eat that. It was a sad day  It's comin your way...I hope you're ready
  12. MMMM Chicken w/gravy sounds really good. I'm gonna try that!!! Getting all that protein is really hard. I have been drinking those Protein Shots. They have 30g of protein and they are only 3 ounces. Thats half your protein in just a few sips.
  13. LOL...I've been eating ff refried beans w/ff cheese and hot sauce for breakfast.
  14. LOL...Poor Cali Sal. I remember that week too well!!!! I would have killed for an egg too and I dont even like eggs. I poached the egg whites in some chicken broth... OMG, It was like the best meal ever.
  15. Girl it is so normal for you to have cold feet or concerns. You're going thru something that will change your life!!! That's scary and exciting... keep in mind how badly you want to be healthy and think of all those cute clothes you can wear next summer  That always works for me!!! Good Luck and welcome to the journey

  18. Stay positive. Minor set back :wink2: I did see you say that this is YOUR YEAR. You will be on your way to all those cute little clothes in no time!!!
  19. Hey welcome to the adventure!!! I too was banded on Oct 4th. I was so so ready for mushies that I didnt even think about being scared :wink2: although this week with the introduction of chicken and lean meats I've been worried that I will eat too much and not catch myself before I get overstuffed. Still this is a very exciting time and as the pounds are coming off it's just more and more motivating. Good luck to you... i'm sure you will get there!!!
  20. What about the risks of staying obese?? This surgery WILL change your life!!! I was banded on OCT 4th and I did get a little nervous but the picture I had in my mind of me healthy and happy and the excitement of just being able to buy clothes from a regular store just did it for me!!! Just jump in and don't be scared!!! Keep positive thoughts and keep mental pictures of the THIN, HEALTHY YOU in your mind!!! Good luck to you :wink2:
  21. Hey, welcome to the journey!!!! I too was banded on Oct 4th. I have found this site to have great info and many supportive people!!! The first week was super hard but as I turn my thoughts away from the foods that I'm missing and on to The BIG PRIZE (a healthy me) I find that it's getting just a bit easier every day!!! Good luck to you and hopefully we can check in on each others progress :wink2:
  22. Girl... you are so close!!! I did get cold feet too but I kept looking at that SKINNY dress that has been hanging in my closet for so so long calling me. It's super tough to get all those protein shakes down and I just couldnt get in as many as I was supposed to. My doctor said If I was feeling really terrible that I could have a little non-fat yogurt and it helped loads. Try calling your doctor to see what they will approve for you. AND KEEP THAT SKINNY PICTURE OF YOURSELF IN MIND!!! Good luck to you
  23. LACEY... that's great!!! You are movin along. Keep up the good work Girl
  24. CONGRATS!!!! My approval took so long I think my insurance just finally apporved me just so I wouldnt call the office shceking status anymore. LOL. I was so excited too. I was in my car on the phone with the same girl at the insurance and she said " oh, its been approved. Your doctor can proceed." WOO HOO...I just sat smiling from ear to ear! Good Luck to you on this wonderful journey and welcome
  25. Welcome to the adventure!!! I was just banded on Oct 4, a very exciting day!!! I am on week 3 and have started with lean meats. My follow up appt was 10 days after surgery and had lost 12 lbs. during the first week. I was so excited that I ran out a bought a scale that does Body fat, Muscle Mass as well as weight. The 2nd week's weight loss was much less at 5 lbs but before getting banded that weight would have taken months upon months to lose. It's just so great to see it finally going away!!! There are so many passionate people on this site and now I know why!!! It's great to share this experience with so many others in my shoes. Good Luck with your progress. I hope to chat with you soon.
