  1. I found it strange also that on the day of discharge the WLS coordinator came in my room and said " stop thaking you're HCTZ (bp med), you won't need it anymore"

Now, I can see stopping it once I lose more significant weight, but I have only lost 10 lbs. Not enough IMO to just stop the meds. But, it is a form of diaretic and right now fulids are somewhat limited so, maybe it has some bearing.

I am going to have to double my efforts in checking my BP at home, just to reassure myself that I am good to go. B)

  2. Okay I have a post op question , I am sorry if this has been asked previously. But, I have already "searched"and have not found anything about this. So, Ms. Fluffy back off if you're only going to say something negative!

Anyway....I am 4 days post op and I am finding myself having to take deep breaths from time to time throughout the day. Sometimes on exertion - sometimes not. I already called my surgeons office yesterday, she said it could be "diapheratic irritation" whatever that is ??? I thought maybe it was excess gas pushing up on the diaphram.

And what's up with the runny nose, what a strange side effect ???

    Any thoughts ?

  3. Ladies I feel ya. Day 5 for me, surgery on Tuesday. I don't really feel hungry which is great. But, I seem to have this hightened sense of smell now. We passed a local chicken place today and i just about jumped out of the car and ran. I had to cover my nose with my sweatshirt and pray that this too will pass. Ummmm fried chicken, what I wouldn't give a wing right now.

My hubby was eating a salad today and all I wanted was a piece of freakin lettuce. Lawd have mercy.

My question is , how will cheating just a weee little bit affect your outcome.

  4. Okay my surgery is scheduled for next week, I am trying to get an idea about the pain I can expect.

I have had two C-Sections, so I know how that feels, as well as a Gall Bladder removal which was laporoscopic also. That pain was minimal in comparison to the 2 C-Sections.

So, for any of you ladies that have had C-Sections...does the pain even compare ?

  5. I am currently on my pre-op diet. My surgeon requires you to do it for one week prior to surgery. He actually palpated my liver during my initial consult and said it DID NOT feel like it was enlarged. But, he requires ALL of his patients to complete it. He also made it clear that if I gained any weight prior to surgery that he would cancel my surgery. This will ensure that I at least will not gain any weight. I know I would probably have many "last suppers" otherwise days leading up to surgery.

I figure, this week will give my mind a chance to adjust to not eating like a pig like I have for so many years. It will be easier for me to adjust next week once I get home from the hospital . Less shock to my brain. It's also a good way to jump start your weight loss.

  6. Hello ladies,

Hope this question is not too intrusive, but I gotta at least ask. Maybe someone will be brave and answer B)

Got a question about "the girls." Just wondering if they will shrink. I have tried many, many diets over the years, of course never losing enough significant weight for the girls to shrink.

I am only looking to drop maybe one cup size. Just wondering what has been some of your experiences ?

    Thanks, T

  7. Hello there,

I am a self proclaimed "Zumbaholic," I do Zumba at my local YMCA...LOOOVVVE IT and I also ordered the DVD set last fall. I found the dvd set to be a little difficult to follow, they seem to move a bit fast for me. I much rather go to the Y and take my classes.

Honestly, my set of Zumba dvd's are sitting in my living room collecting dust. I am hoping that I can work my way up TO the dvd's next year.

  8. I finally borke down and told my mom. She is normally against WLS becuase we've had a couple of relatives that have had Gastic By- pass Surgery...2 were unsuccessful and 1 (unfortunately) just recently passed away due to Cancer , not necessarily related to Gastric Bypass. So, I knew she would probaly not agree with me doing this. I started the process with only my AMAZING hubby's support. He has been so good to me throughout this whole ordeal.

Anyway, just last Monday I was talking with mom on the phone. She was on her way out to do some Christmas shopping. She mentioned she was going to pick me up something from Dillard's. I mentioned to her that I really didn't want her to buy me any clothes right now becuase I " had somethings going on?" She immediately pannicked and thought I was ill and made me tell her what was going on. So, I just told her ,explained about the PCOS and all of my weight gain and defeated efforts to lose weight.

Well, to my surprise, momma was estatic !!!! She was so happy and excited for me. She even said she was going to take off from work and help us with the boys so, my husband can stay with me at the hospital . She said she had recently noticed that I had been gaining weight but, wasn't sure how to mention it to me without hurting my feelings.

I am so glad she knows. Now , I have one more cheerleader in my corner. :)

  9. Thanks everyone for your responses. Everything, yall said makes total sense. I am glad I asked because I was starting to get worried about the cruise in June.

I plan to focus on having fun...fun I have not been able to have because I've been so overweight and out of breath. Rather than be overly concerned about eating every hour.

  10. My family & I have been planning our cruise since September. My surgery is Jan 4th, so hopefully by then I will have good restriction and good weight loss. B) My question to anyone who's been on a cruise with a band, how do you manage not to hurt yourself with over eating.... no chewing well ... taking big bites..getting stuck...all leading to PAIN etc....

I just don't want to be in pain when we are supposed to be enjoying our cruise with our family. Should I ask my doc for an "unfill" or is that a bit unethical to ask a doc to do for your own enjoyment and glutony.:P

Tell me what you think yall.

  11. I'm so excited, I got my new Bloch's today in the mail. I can't wait to get to a class and try them out. I talked with my surgery educator today, she said the same thing, that I should be back Zumba' ing within about 2 weeks post-op.

Hopefully, my instructor wil be understanding and allow me to modify quite a bit for a couple of weeks.

  12. Well , I finally have a surgery date , Jan 4th. My classes starts about two weeks after that date. I will have had my first post-op appt by then, so maybe I can still keep this class.

I am praying for a speedy recovery and hopefully the instructor will understand that I will have to REALLY MODIFY the movements for a week or two or three:rolleyes:

  13. Finally, found out yesterday that my surgery is scheduled for Jan 4th. And Tricare has approved me- Yeah baby.

Now I am starting to worry . I accidently scrolled down to the Life after lap band removal section on this website. And now I am so worried about this procedure going wrong. When I read though some of their experiences it scares me a little bit.

I'm just venting, I have to have faith & believe that everything is going to work out just find and I will be successful.
