Hey everyone! BandLand is such a great place to be. I'm sore, but not really hurting, more tired than anything. I hope my fellow bandmates all came thru with flying colors! Will post more when I get home.
-
Hey everyone, in the holding area waiting to go back! See ya on the flipside!!!
-
I got the Gold Standard Caramel toffee fudge. Its like drinking a frappuccino from Starbucks. Very yummy!!!

How are you doin pooky? I'm going to start again from today as had a little 'relaxer' this weekend - COS I LOST 1 STONE and 2lbs in 10 DAYS and therefore saved myself that 1k - I DID IT!!! (so hubby says why not keep going and save yourself a further £6k...! grrrr - wish it was THAT simple but my head has somehting to say bout that!)I think if you have or have not been told by Doctor to start a low fat trend before op - you should.
It is still easy enough to cheat with this band (those that fail melt choc and still consume little and often the wrong stuff as my Dr explained you have to bend with this band and work at fining foods that suit without the reflux and not fall back on the easier foods to eat - which are usually the biscuits etc)Plus the pre op is good training for better eating habits.
As I've paid for this I'm determined to make it work.
I'm scared of everything: the op,any post pain, reflux and ultimately and hopefully being of a size I've never been b4; and more importantly to me: maintaining it.
But it's opportunity and boy what a journey!!!!
I get banded THIS FRIDAY!!!!
I'll see you guys on the shrinking train later! Good luck to all - let's make some dreams come true ....xxx:thumbup:
Hey Angel, I'm doing ok....hungry, but doing ok. I only have one more day of this pre-op deal, then off to the hospital Thursday morning. I am excited, but very nervous.
-
Yep, Cathy, I am very excited! I hope everyone is having a great day, best wishes to those of you being banded tomorrow. You will be in my prayers!
-
Wooo hoooooo two more days!!! I can't wait....it won't be long at all now and I'll be in bandland. I hope everyone had a happy Monday, and are having a great start to the week. :cursing:
-
No worries Cathy, starting tomorrow you will have lots of us down in bandland with you!!!
-
Well, several of us start our life after banding this week. How is everyone doing on the pre-op diet?
-
What band are you guys leaning toward? I'm waiting for insurance approval but so confused LAP-BAND® or realize band?I am going with the Lap-Band...only because I couldn't make up my mind, and my doc said he would just flip a coin! No, all kidding aside, I just really liked the Lap-Band system better, but it's really all in your doc's preference and what you decide is better for you. Check out the MyJourney on lapband.com and the realizemysuccess.com and see which website is better for you.

pooky when you first started the pre-op was you still able to work, or did you have to take off.I actually have been off work on FMLA since June 18 due to a shoulder injury....So I've been lucky enough to be at home. The pre-op diet has just about done a number on my gut though....I can't get too far from the BR (TMI I know, but the truth...)

Day 7 of pre-op underway...Its hard to believe that in less than 4 days, I'll already be banded! The diet was hard the first couple days, but has gotten MUCH easier these past few days. It's all worth it in the long run. Hope everyone is having a great day!
-
Rebecca,
Thanks for the recipes! Hard to believe we only have 4 more days!!!
-
Day 3 of 10 on the pre-op diet....not so bad now, the hunger pains have subsided. I woke up with some congestion and a sore throat, so I'm off to the PCP to hopefully stave off any problems since I'm being banded a week from tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great day! Hang in there, keep your chins up...September is coming sooner than we think!!!
-
Day 1 of preop diet almost done....I'm hungry, but surviving. I've had a half cup of yogurt, some sugar free Jello, a fudgesicle and 2 Protein Shakes. Planning on some broth for supper. I've met my Protein requirement for the day....so tonight is gonna be all freebies (broth and sugar free jello or popsicles again). Ten days of liquids....this too shall pass!!!

If you can read a newspaper through it, it's a clear liquid. That's how it was told to me :smile2:Shay, what part of OK are you from, who was your surgeon?
-
Welcome to all the newbies on our thread!!! I am so glad to see how many responses we've gotten, and how many of us are all going through the ropes at the same time. It's going to be tough, but we can all make it with a lot of faith, hard work and support for each other. I had my final nutrition consult, and met with the office RN for an overview of the hospital and how the stay works, and tomorrow I meet with my surgeon to sign consents, have labs drawn and to finalize all the plans....then its off to pre-op diet land on Monday. Wow...2 weeks from tomorrow will be here sooner than I thought!!! I can't wait!
Best wishes too all you September Sweeties waiting to be banded this month too!!!

this is for everyone....just curious if you are trying to get approval for surgery what insurance company are you going through? My insurance company is Waterstone Benefit Administrators who work on behalf of PPO Oklahoma. I think the reason my approval went through so fast is because I work for the hospital system that I am having my surgery done in. It only took 6 days from submission to approval. I think I was one of the luckier ones!

Hi all I am new still learning a few things, but I did want to ask what is the liver shrinking diet and why would you need it?My surgeon does a liquid diet for 10 days...depletes the glycogen stores in the liver shrinking it out of the way to prevent injury during the surgery.
-
You didn't mess up a thing...we talked at the first about how there's a 10 year range in all of our ages, you're right smack in the middle....glad to have you with us!!!

I just started by pre-op diet today... Doing full liquids for the first week, then all Clear Liquids the next week... Its going to be really tough, but I keep telling myself "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!"
We have the same band date! I am so excited, but I don't have to start my diet until Monday. He only requires a 10 day liquid diet. Good luck to you!

Ok yeah, so the gas is a major pain...its all in my right shoulder. I had to stay overnight due to a reaction to a breathing treatment. At least I had a thorough doc who wasn't antsy to push me out the door! Best wishes to you girls tomorrow, you'll be in my prayers!
