  1. Over did it today and paying for it tonight. But other than that, not too bad at all.

Glad to hear that. What did you over do?

I decided I felt good enough to cook dinner for the kids, so I did. And then I cleaned up after dinner. I was pretty sore after being on my feet and up and down all day. Today is much better. I've been resting while they're all at school.

  2. Having been a labor and delivery nurse for eleven years, I know how the supply/demand cycle works for milk production. My doctor was the one who refuses to do anything until I am done breastfeeding my son. She says the human body requires an additional 500 calories above what I need to provide HEALTHY, rich milk for the baby. So I'm pretty much stuck until he's done nursing. Thank you all for the words of encouragement and letting me vent.

  3. I was banded in September 2010. It's been all uphill since. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had a total thyroidectomy three months later. My weight loss has been slow, like at a turtle's pace. Then when I finally was down 50 lbs, I got pregnant. I had horrible morning sickness and was hospitalized for intractable nausea/vomiting. This was Nov 2012. At that point my dr removed all my fill. My son is now 7 months old, I still have no fill because I'm breastfeeding, however, I'm having issues with things getting stuck and vomiting again. I'm starting to have some serious "buyers remorse" and wishing I would NEVER have had this stupid band placed. Has anyone else had any experiences like mine? What happened with you and your band?

  4. I had the exact same thing happen from a gallstone/morning sickness attack last week. After 2 ER visits, I was finally admitted for severe dehydration. I spent Wednesday night and most of Thanksgiving day in the hospital. Now, the dehydration and gallbladder issues have calmed down, I have this excruciating pain all around my port, like I have ripped the sutures loose. How long does it take for that pain to calm down?

  5. So today is my 18 month anniversary...I'm almost 70 lb down from my heaviest weight. Finally got off my plateau! Then comes the bad news...I saw a new surgeon last week (my other doc kept attributing my nausea/vomiting/reflux to seasonal allergies...so I went for a 2nd opinion). She took 1.5cc out of my band and sent me for an xray to check placement. It seems my band is tilted, she says this can indicate a slip or a dilated esophagus. So now that I finally got off my plateau, I may be looking at a complete unfill, and having to start this mess all over again. Just hoping that I don't end up having to have a 2nd surgery. So...lesson learned. If you are having problems of any kind...don't take "just take a clairitin or a zyrtec" as a solution. Such a bogus solution to a real problem!!!

  6. I have the EA Sports Active 2, and its killer! I love it!!! I also have Just Dance 3 and Gold's Gym dance workout - gotta keep it varied to keep my body guessing...as far as the rest of my routine, I eat a lot of salad and grilled chicken breasts, and I drink Click Protein Shakes in the morning - gives me my Protein plus a shot of espresso (Which I can't start my day without my coffee!!!) on the 22 of Feb, I get to move to day shift, which should also help me in the weight loss - so I won't be eating my meals at 3am...that's been a killer the past several months. Hope everyone is doing well!

  7. Hey Tiffany...I too have had problems getting the weight off, but am now back on track. I had thyroid surgery December following my surgery and that threw my body into a whirlwind! I finally got my medications straightened out, and I track every single thing that goes in my mouth on www.sparkpeople.com and I try to get in some form of exercise every single day. I follow all the rules my surgeon gave me (I had gotten away from that when I wasn't losing due to slow metabolism after the thyroid surgery) including no drinking 30 min before and after meals and no carbonation. I just finally decided to pull myself back up and get serious, and I've lost 12lb since 1/1/12!!! I'm at the lightest point I've been at in over 8 years...So keep your chin up and keep trying, it will eventually come off :)

  8. Are there any night shifters out there who can relate to me with this problem? I do fine bringing my "lunch" to work every day, but then I have a horrible time staying awake between 2 and 5am...so I snack to stay awake! Bringing back bad habits that lead me to this surgery in the first place! I'm a nurse, so its only 3-4 nights per week, but then on my nights off at home, if I'm not in bed by say 10pm, my stomach starts growling and I feel like I'm absolutely starving to death! I have just over 5cc in my 14cc band, and that fill was done under fluoro back in August. I feel like I have good restriction, but I get hungry within 2-3 hours.

Any suggestions on curbing the middle of the night cravings/snackings??? Or anything to help stay awake without eating?

  9. Hey everyone!

Lisa, I'm still hanging out around here, not sure who else is! Well, after a LONG plateau, I have finally gotten over it and am now sitting at 248. I finally found a doc who would listen to me for my thyroid medicine and feel like a MILLION BUCKS! Hope this finds you all having had a great holiday and geared up for the new year!

    Erin

  10. OK, I put in a call to my surgeon today. I got on the scale and had gone from 255 back up to 261. Evidently this thing just isn't for me. No matter what I do, it isn't working. I can't eat enough to get my calories up to 1000, much less 1200...and yet I'm still not losing. I walk 30-45 minutes a day 3-5 days a week. Frustrated doesn't even begin to describe how I feel right now...FAILURE, that's my adjective for today...

  11. Ok, I need to vent to someone...I went in and had fluoro fill on Monday of last week...everything went great. I was eating and drinking just fine until yesterday. Then yesterday afternoon I woke up from a nap and couldn't drink Water without severe epigastric pain. It takes FOREVER for a sip of water to go down. I think my band has slipped. I'm so frustrated I'm ready to tell my surgeon when I go in that I either want him to do a revision or just take it out all together. Depressed, discouraged and angry describes me lately. I haven't lost any weight to speak of since December...so what's the point in having it if I can't lose with it??? UGH!
