Goin' on a cruise
Just eat as you normally would with your band. Don't over do it, it's a lifestyle change, can't take a break from it haha. You are getting the band to eat differently.. not to revert back to your old ways. Also if i'm not mistaken (i just had my surgery this week and I don't have a fill yet) I still can't eat much at all and I'm not hungry, no way I could shove a regular amount of food down there and not puke. Besides you'll be full with your little amount of food so what does it matter? Just do other things! Do activities and don't spend time in the buffets. I've been on several cruises you DON'T have to ever set foot in a buffet. The dinners and such are regular meals, it's not giant portions or anything like that. It's all pretty average, and the food isn't that spectacular you aren't missing anything.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Ooh that sounds good, I'm gonna get some hummus, try maybe chicken or egg salad, refried beans with salsa, and maybe some oatmeal. I'm getting a little concerned about my vacation to Vegas next week! but this menu is far broader than I had originally thought it was, I should be ok, I'll just bring a bunch of protein shakes with me, also maybe sneak out of dinner and go gambling instead so my parents can enjoy their real food. Wow that is quick, I mean I guess it doesn't really matter, I hate the liquid but i like using this time to adjust to not eating, and forgetting about food and I'm much more grateful to get to eat something real tomorrow! My full regimen is 25 days, Liquid for 5, Puree for 10, then Soft Foods for 10 then I can eat normal food. Well besides the liquid it is essentially real food which is good, I mean not everything obviously but it's still fairly normal.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Ok after pureed I have "soft food" that's probably mushies. I gotta start preparing, any of you do puree yet? Not sure what to eat. Think it said like thinned chicken salad, pureed refried Beans, cottage cheese etc... I'm day 4 and I'm fine today. Back to my regular routine, gone out shopping and stuff, not tired, stomach is a tad sore, but not much gas.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
I'm still on liquids my list says pureed bean Soup, I had a little bit of that tonight. Also sugar free fudgicals are very satisfying! Yikes can't believe you guys are cheating? My stomach is so sore I'd die if I threw up! I'm finding I'm not hungry at all. Which is good, I miss the social part of food and eating out right now. But I'm paying attention to my feelings. I'm emotionally ok. Next week will be a test for me I'm spending 5 days in Vegas with my parents and it has always been one big food fest everytime we go there. So I'm a little scared. But my parents are supportive haha so extra gaming while they eat? Yes! Haha I'm going on pureed food this weekend, trying to figure out what i can eat. Is that the same as mushies? Hmm

LB Friendly RESTURANTS!
Yea think i'd feel weird using it. haha. I wish we had a thread for restaurants, with ideas of what to order maybe? I'm pretty new at this whole thing, but my family and friends, eat out all the time. I'm concerned about finding things that are more nutritious.

Lap Band Fills / Adjustment Info
I love this post. I just got banded, but I think reading that website will squash any excuses I may have in the future! Seems like a lot of people find ways to make this not work.

pain and uncomfortable
yea banded monday, the gas is far worse than any abdominal pain i'm having. my biggest issue now is my shoulder, my neck and my stomach hurt, makes laying down hard, rolling over, that kinda stuff. I stopped my hydrocodone this morning, and I feel pretty good, I sat a lot today at a desk and that seemed to make me gassier.

Vitamins
i'm doing Flinstones, and caltrate D, chewable, and b-12 under the tongue, it's not that bad.. for future reference do the gummy ones go down ok? I was concerned it might get stuck.

Banded 12/10 and on liquid diet
Are you hungry or do you want food?? Obviously I want pizza right now, but I'm not physically hungry. And how much Protein? I'm on liquids too I can't even get all of my protein.. Like I don't want it all. How can you be on liquid without protein? That would be like 50 calories a day...?

In and Out of Bed
Yea take a deep breath in when you get up or sit down. Just do it quickly, it's going to hurt. I feel like i have more pain and trouble if i baby it. I had mine on Monday and it's much easier getting in and out this morning. I've been sleeping on the couch which is ok for like an hour haha then I have to sleep sitting up, so I've been sleeping in my parents bed when they get up in the morning. Going back to my place tonight. I can't wait to be able to sleep on my side!!

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Still lots of pain but it's getting easier, and my spirits are better, I think my neck and shoulder hurt more than my stomach. Heating pad has been a lifesaver. I'm going to try to lay down more today. (I'm at my parents and they don't have a bed for me at night, which is ok because I can't sleep through it anyways). I got in a little over half my protein yesterday, and I had some butternut squash soup, that filled me up. Definitely looking forward to feeling better! Hopefully by Friday!

Overnight in Hospital?
I didnt, but wouldn't of minded I feel crappy! Wouldn't mind being there getting IV pain killers haha

Alcohol loosening up the band?!
All I know is you aren't supposed to drink alcohol or caffine right? Caffine is because it makes you hungry... Alcohol I assume because you don't eat much and it's a of slider calories.

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
Hey! Had my surgery yesterday. Got up really early and my parents picked me up and drove me to UC Irvine. I had a terrible cold all week, but it was getting better, so I wasn't 100% sure they were going to do the surgery. So I get all checked in, and then my doctor and anesthesiology and some others come by to decide if they wanna do it. Finally they decided it's fine. Then the nurse gives me an IV, with much trouble because I was so dry!! Then I talk to my parents and they wheel me in, it all seemed to go as planned. I was out at 1:30. They gave me some pain meds and nausea meds right after and finally water!! I was drowsy and out of it for a few hours. Then the gas pain got SO bad that the nurse had me walk and that helped a lot. *tip! When you have to move, like stand up or sit down take a really deep breath while you do and it doesnt hurt nearly as much* So I had trouble filling my prescription for the meds the day before so we spent hours trying to get someone to fix it, and nobody seemed to take care of it but finally it was ruled the perscriiption was fine. Gee thanks CVS! They had taken so long messing around with that that my meds had worn off and they couldn't give me more. Ack, but finally at about 7 after waiting like 30 minutes for wheelchair to come pick me up, we left. My parents live about an hour and a half away from the hospital. That ride wasnt too pleasant. Finally when we got home my dad went to get my meds. The meds help a little, But it's still hard to move and I'm really sore! So it's 6 am now, I didn't sleep much, I tried laying down but I didn't like that do I've mostly been sitting up. Oddly enough I have no sense of smell right now, maybe from the oxygen, but hey! My cold feels about 98% better yay. So overall it went well, I wish I got to talk to my surgeon after surgery. But nope. But overall I think I know what to do. Heres to hoping this pain dies quickly!

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
I got banded yesterday. Im in terrible pain still. Cant sleep, most of the night ive been sitting up.I've been taking the liquid hydrocodone it helps a tad, but still painful! When does the pain subside? Like to where I could sleep on my side fairly pain free? Walking definitely helped with the gas! The gas was so bad at the hospital walking helped. I'm so dehydrated too, been sipping Water. Haha I was so dry before the surgery they couldn't find a vein to poke my IV in the nurses were beating up my hand haha. Haven't had any Protein yet, didn't feel like it last night.

I look like a slob!

pain in shoulder blades
Does Gas X help? At the hospital I was under the impression from the nurse that it wouldn't. I had the worst gas in my chest ! Walking and burbing helped a lot! My shoulder is killing my right now but the heating pad feels good.
