"What if I F*** it Up"

Right Laura, Now I'd eat a dozen cookies. I think I can learn to have one, or a bite.
  2. I tried to put the unjury in broth and it was gross, I probably got it too hot hahaha. So i gave up. I strained some Campbell's chicken noodle Soup today, that actually really hit the spot. Also putting sugar free kool-aid in those Isopure drinks helps a ton! they actually taste pretty good.

    So Hungry

Have more Protein shakes maybe, that will fill you up. Or try soybeans, or spinach as they have a lot of protein. I'm on all liquids for a week, and I'm not hungry, I wanna eat, but I'm not hungry, just gotta pay attention to it. Keep your mind occupied so you don't think about food.

Yea, I got to find some of those. I don't have any friends or family that have the band to talk to. They all support me of course, but don't know what i'm going through

Protein Shakes / Dairy Pre-Op diet

Ok, yea I haven't been, I'm pretty sure that's what they meant too. The nurse I deal with is a little.. uh... dingy. I did ask when I was there the other day, I hadn't realized that they all have milk in em anyways. But yea I'm sure this is fine.
  6. So, I'm on my pre-op diet for 7 days, this is day 2, my little booklet say no milk products or solids, which makes sense, but I have to have 3-4 Protein shakes a day, and Clear liquids.. don't all the Protein Shakes have some kind of milk product or milk protein? I'm not mixing them with milk, just Water. It does say I can have whey Isolate protein or Soy Protein Shakes. But, Whey is milk protein isn't it? Just curious if anyone had insight on this... Seems silly but I can't seem to find an answer

"What if I F*** it Up"

Yea, I read some things yesterday and I'm worried too. I guess we just have to be committed. It's a big lifestyle change. Remember we don't wanna be fat anymore, thats why we are doing this! I'm sure once I start losing the weight I'll feel better about it. I'm worried about what kind of emotions are going to come up, I think I gotta channel the need to eat into something else, maybe something like going to the gym or cleaning. I never ate because I was hungry, I ate because I liked food, and I liked the social aspect of it. It's gonna be a big change to not do that. I think it'll help me knowing I'll get sick if I eat the wrong food. I know me personally, I'd rather not puke, than eat a piece of junk food. Also all the money we are spending on this, and how serious it is.
  8. size10 ~ I can only have protein and clear liquids till my surgery after I can have cream soups and stuff so that should be better!! anatomy ~ of course it's normal! you aren't eating. ahha. i've lost 8 pounds on my liquid diet in 2 days. when you start off really big, it comes faster in the beginning alimaureen ~ well the lapband is a tool, it can't stop you from cheating and eating the wrong foods, or eating things that slide down the band. you have to change your lifestyle or you won't lose weight and keep it off. we have to know that coming into the surgery. I wish it was an end all solution but, it's not.
  9. I'm on day 2 of my 7 day liquid diet, this morning I was working on a project, and I was totally fine, not thinking about it, but when I finished in a few hours then I started the whining and complaining and thinking too much about food. I guess just do whatever you can to keep your mind on other things.
  10. They just asked questions to make sure you can mentally handle this, and that you are ready for the changes coming at you. Make sure you have support and all that. Then I had to do a questionnaire online a few weeks later, had to watch a lecture, to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into. Mine had had bypass so she talked about the changes she had and stuff. I think they want to make sure the reason you are having the surgery is good, and you are doing it for you..
  11. Aww she shouldn't be angry! Maybe if she sees your success she'll be motivated to do it too. I can't picture me either, I'm 25, and I've been larger for as long as I can remember. I honestly can't remember being under 200 pounds. I'm not worried about it, I'm excited to shop for new clothes and do exciting things I couldn't do because I was overweight.
  12. Haha I was pretty ready to cry over food yesterday. Just the thought of what I can't eat after the surgery, or now is depressing. I'm trying to keep my mind occupied so I don't think about it, but I'm not working right now so it's hard. Mainly, I'm just tired of all the sickeningly fake sweet stuff. It's gross. I almost wish they made a meat flavored protein shake haha. I'm actually getting excited for my post-op diet where I can at least have some things with normal flavor even if it's liquid.
  13. If you have your parents support, you probably don't qualify for medicaid, you have to be low income or have a disability. I would imagine it would be hard to get them to pay for something like that since it is government subsidized insurance. Not sure obviously. Also I'm guessing it'll be nearly impossible to find a quality surgeon that will accept medicaid. Hmm, for me my insurance didn't cover it either, so I switched to one that did, you have to have a PPO and it's fairly expensive per month, but it's still still cheaper than paying out of pocket.

Found secret to getting Isopure down!!!

I bought some of those yesterday, I could only get through a 3rd of a bottle this morning. Hmm I have some sugar free Kool-aid, maybe i'll try that. Gosh I just want something savory haha!! Bullion to the rescue I guess.

    Weight loss during Pre-Op Diet

I'm on day 2 and down 6 pounds ahaha. I know just water, but still exciting.
  16. Yea, that happened to me too. My hospital apparently has some stupid "pre-op is 30 days exactly before surgery" rule, which makes no sense, but I guess a rule is a rule, so them and my doctor messed it up in translation and I had to push mine off from october!

    soup recipes?

For 7 days, says protein shakes and clear liquid only
  18. HeatherinCA

    protein shakes

The Atkins ones are good, but they only have 15g of protein. The Myoplex lite shakes tastes good.
  19. Mine is the same as yours but its only 7 days. I'm guessing they want you to lose as much weight as possible out of the gate, on your pre op diet, and post op diet you will be more inspired? Also to jump start the weight loss. Because once you start eating food you won't lose weight as fast. Also we eat SO much food normally, they want you to kind of forget about it, since we won't be eating much at all after. Are you 100% sure this is for the lapband? All my paperwork had the information for the Bypass too, and those regulations are more severe.

    soup recipes?

You can have that pre-op? Mine says no milk products or solids. Just the protein shakes. It's meant to clear out your bowels. Wouldn't pureed soup essentially be food. Hmm. I'm going to my doctor today, hmm have to ask. Sounds like that stuff is ok post opp. I'm drinking some bullion right now haha, it's actually pretty satisfying, but I'm only on day one.
  21. Late to the party, but I'm getting banded on Monday the 13th in Irvine, CA. I started my liquid diet today, not so bad so far... Oooh there is a book? I might have to get that. I had a crazy time yesterday running around trying to find all the things for my liquid diet, i'd like to have some good ideas for the future stages.

    How does Care Credit work??

I'm using Care Credit, it's a medical credit card basically, with a high interest rate... I think it's like 14% or something... might be able to do better somewhere else? You have to remember it's really hard to get approved for any kinda loan or card these days because of financial reform / economy, so Care Credit could be the best bet.
  23. I don't have a date yet, but will likely be in early september, just had my Psych evaluation and I go see the nutritionist next week. Self Pay D: but hey I think that is good motivation for me to not screw it up haha. Lordy they told me at my appointment it's like buying a new body >.< hahaha.
