  1. Girl we have all been there, so dont be to hard on yourself... and CONGRATS on being HONEST WITH YOURSELF....

I use Curves, its 30 mins a day they suggest 3-4 times a week and its quick, easy, all woman, and its fun! I would suggest that you either wake up and hour earlier than you normally do, and do or on your way home from work make it your "on the way home stop"

You owe it to yourself to do this, you've already given yourself a great gift by getting banded, now get where you want to be and help the tool help you!

Best of luck and prayers.... Keep us updated!:smile2:

  2. Hi Everyone!! okay soooo. I wana get the LAP-BAND®. I have United Health Care. I have a few questions. I hope yall can help me.

    1. If my BMI is over 40 will I automaticly get approved?

    2. Has anyone used Dr. Steven Fass out of Austin TX and does he make you jump through all kinds of hoops?

    3. Since my BMI is 41, I have hypo-thyroid and hyper-tension, depression and back pain do u think I will automaticly get approved with out needing to prove 5 years of weight history and do the 6 month pre-op diet?

I was born over weight. It runs in the family. I have never ever been thin. I am almost 285 lbs today. I have never been able to keep up on my health due to a rocky life style and bad choices in life. At 28, I am ready and able to finally take care of myself and become healthy. I have come a long way, and ready to make more changes. Now I am able to with a good job and health benefits. I hope ya'll can help me by sending my your opinions and experiences. :smile2:

    Thanks so much!

    Always, Amber Xoxo

I dont know much about how insurance works, or doctors in Texas, but I do know that here in California, my starting BMI was 46 and that qualified me without needing any other medicial issues. However, I do know that if your BMI is 30-35 you do need to have I believe it is three or more of the diseases you listed. I wasnt made to do the six month diet, but I have heard that some people have had to (mostly kiaser patients), however there is a life style change and diet that you must adhere to one month and two weeks before the surgery.

I currently have a friend how has Kiaser and the hoops were just ridiculous, and she and her parents are going to finances the surgery (just shy of 12,000). Its the BEST investment that you can make in yourself. Its just as good if not better than investing in your education. Ive only been banded now for one week, but ive been waiting four years for my insurance to start excepting this surgery, and I dont regret one minute of the whole process. Best of luck and prayers, keep us all update!:)

  3. Hey everyone, Name is Brian.

I have had the LAP-BAND® for about 3 years now. I lost 50 pounds in the first 3 months with the band. In the last 2.5+ years I have not lost any weight in some cases I maybe gained a few. I have a 10cc band and have 9cc`s currently in my band. No restriction.

You would think that not loosing weight is the worst part. But its not. No matter how little I eat. No matter how well I chew my food. I am constantly throwing up, It has had serious Psychologically hurting implications. I am self medicating with alcohol on a constant basis and I am constantly thinking about going back to smoking methamphetamine's to loose weight.

I have survived through drug induced heart attacks(2) and I have also survived a shooting 1 bullet in my side and 2 in my stomach, and I dont think I have ever felt lower then I feel now. Lots of people know I had the LAP-BAND® and I am always the center of Jokes that I dont know how much more I can take.

Is their any RESTART that I could do? Like Open my band all the way and fast to shrink everything ? Like you would restart your computer when it is running slow. I also need a doctor Local to Los Angeles where I live. Who is caring and will help me. My doctor is about 3 hours from Los Angeles and its too much to go up their and even when I am up their he has little advice to give me.

    PLEASE HELP.

Brian, Im sorry to hear your band troubles, I recently was banded on the 11th of Aug. and I used Top Surgeons, they have several offices in the LA area, Beverly Hills, West Hills, and Valencia. I was really happy with all the support I got pre, and post and still continue to receive from their amazing staff..

Best of luck and prayers to you Brian!

  4. Hi Everyone...I am being banded on the 23rd. I'm self pay at NYU...so I didn't have to go through the hoops that the insurance companies send everyone through (although my dad's insurance has an exception so I wouldn't have been covered by them regardless.) I am really excited and nervous.

I started my liquid diet on Monday and I'm not finding it hard to drink the many shakes a day but I've been getting really bad gas pain from the slim-fast shakes. Is anyone else having this problem? I work with little children at a day camp so I am constantly running around and out in the sun...

Oh, and for those of you who are on Protein Shakes and don't like the flavor...I just tried the Unjury brand Protein Shake (chicken Soup flavor). It is so good and it doesn't taste like a shake at all. I've heard from people the other ones they make are good too, including a non-flavor one so you can mix it with anything you like. (unjury.com if you are interested)

To those being banded soon...I wish you all well! :)

Congrats! You'll do amazing, and if you'd like to follow my blog please feel free to. I just got banded yesterday Aug 11, 2010, and Ive decided to blog the whole experience and I think it will help answer some of your questions....
