I am so excited/nervous. I'm going in tomorrow at 0615 for a Tummy Tuck and inner thigh lift. I had the sleeve in February 2013. Lost 115 pounds. I had the sleeve at a MTF and the same surgeon does tummy tucks. I have seen quite a few examples of his work at the WL support group here at FT Carson. I cannot wait to have my stomach look as good as the other ladies in this group! The same MTF has a plastic surgeon. Since I am already in surgery for the tummy tuck(insurance paid) the plastic surgeon will do my thighs during the same session. I am so much more anxious about this than the sleeve. It

I have Tricare (my husband is military) but my procedures were done in a military treatment facility not by a private physician. That means although I was referred to a WLS initially, Tricare didn't pay for the sleeve. The MTF is a military hospital but treats dependants of the soldier. They have an extensive WL treatment plan there. Pre surgery care and post surgery follow up is Extensive, to include that my WL surgeon also has extensive practice in doing tummy tucks (which is what I had). At each follow up appointment for the year after my surgery I was asked generally if I were having skin issues. Then specifically:Itching
    Rashes
    Smell
all was documented. My surgeon had the final say so as to whether I needed the tummy tuck. With my documented issues at each appointment, I think starting at 3 month appointment, he was able to approve me for tummy tuck. More importantly, because of the WL support group I attended as part of my pre surgery requirement, I met others on whom he had already performed a tummy tuck and saw his beautiful work ( any where from a weeks to years post op) and felt extremely comfortable trusting him with my tummy tuck)

My after pics will be at least a week away. I'm in compression pants until told otherwise by surgeon.

I think separately is the way to go. The Tummy Tuck was as I expected after talking to others in my WL group, ouchy day one but I don't notice it much today. The pain in either site has not been above a three. I thought I wanted breast augmentation but this thigh lift has put me off surgery for a while. I wish you luck with both. I'm certain you won't be as concerned with your scar when it is surrounded by flat, taught belly.

I'm two days post op. Tummy Tuck is a breeze compared to my thigh lift. There was a lot of stuff removed from my buttocks. And in my case, my port scar is completely gone. I still have a few of the little scars at the top of my stomach , but those are very faint.

Here's my before. You can see how weird my belly button was with that port scar running into it.

I can let you know in a week. I had my lap band removed a few years ago. Sleeve was done February 2013. The port scar is the worse ! Two inches long and seems to run into my belly button, making my belly button look droopy. When I spoke to the surgeon, he thought it would be removed with the Tummy Tuck. I am having a tummy tuck and thigh lift next Tuesday I hope that scar will be removed as well as a few stretch marks.

Keeping well hydrated really helps plump up your skin. I went through a phase when I got a few sunken bits and the wrinkles looked more pronounced. As I am 20 years older than you, I was extremely worried as my face had looked ok before! But that has passed and I look more like myself again... and Water did help.
Now if you really want to talk wrinkles, my butt would give a Shar-Pei a run for its money (google it, lol!)

Anything we say to our daughters sounds like criticism to them. They learn from watching us. We didn't end up overweight because we have a healthy relationship with food. Don't project your food issues on to her. Over the years I have watched my child eat like a horse when she is going through growth spurts and then pick at food at other times. I don't believe that tough love should apply to eating.
My daughter is 13. I have never restricted how much she eats. I do restrict what she eats. No soda, unless we are eating out. And only the child size drink. No refills. I make sure there is fruit and vegetable for her to snack on. I pack her lunch for school. I would never tell her she has to "diet" I don't think she eats as healthy as she should, but I don't want to plant the idea that she should obsess over food like I do. Since I don't think it's healthy for kids to diet, I sign her up for sports classes and take her to the events. She swims twice a week for at least an hour. Right now, she eats as much as she wants and doesn't gain weight. I know this will change as she gets older, so I'm trying to instill the habit of exercise. Food should not be a battle, it is nutrition. Find an activity your daughter enjoys and encourage her to exercise.

I have a 12 year old son who is overweight. My 17 year old is VERY fit and my 12 year old broke my heart when he told me he wanted to look like his brother. I have taken him to Weight Watchers (when I did it) and he loved the point system idea and would do great in the day (I never did great) but he would still sneak out at night and eat. We also tried cutting carbs, more fruit ect.. My husband and I were talking about therapy or a personal trainer (we were desperate) to get him more active but settled on karate. He started at the beginning of February and goes 4 days a week for 45 minutes each time.
He is such a shy kid and now he is getting more confident and happy. He wants to lose weight so he can get better in class. He wants to be able to do more sit ups and push ups and knows he has to lose more tummy to do it well. It is amazing what a month can do! He stands straighter, talks to strangers more easily and I swear he look slimmer already. Maybe your daughter would like to do something like that. Or a sport in school to keep the focus off of food. I wish you all the luck in the world, there is nothing more painful or heartbreaking than seeing your child struggle and not being able to help. ((HUGS))
