  1. The same thing happened to my friend, it ended up being she had to take some fill out and then she was fine. It didn't happen right away either after she got the fill, that was why she was wondering what it was. I would call your dr. office and tell them what's happening, they may want to take some Fluid out.

Let us know how you are doing!!

  2. I second what Enuff_is_enuff said!! Goingforit.....you and i are both 6 days away from our surgery, this pre-op diet has been tough, not just on me but my husband and my Son is well. I'm hungry, i'm grumpy (trying not to be) and there are a lot of emotions there when you take people who are addicted to food and take that away from them for two weeks!!! The feelings are still going to be there. We need to learn how to deal with them now. This is all part of our journey. You are doing great, reaching out to this forum instead of just going to food, think about it....that's amazing!!! You are on the road to success, you got this. You have lot's of support here. I don't know what you are fighting about with your boyfriend, but I'm sure he is worried about you since it's getting close and i'm sure he wishes there was more he could do for you. My husband feels helpless becuase he knows he can't do anything about my hunger and I feel like i could chew someones arm off right now...lol. Here for you anytime!

  3. Hi HB,

Well, if you had asked me yesterday I would have told you I was doing fine with the pre op diet, but today, day 8 has been KILLER!! I have been hungry all day, it's just been really tough.......The only thing getting me through is that we only have 5 more days of this before our surgery. Nothing will make me cheat, I'm just suffering through it. I'm drinking Water and skinny water like crazy, nothing is helping today. I'm sure tomorrow will be better. I'm on an all liquid diet. What do you get to have? Are you allowed solid food? If so, I'm jelous....lol

  4. One week to go!!!! I started this process in April and I can't beleive only one more week. I went to the hospital today for my pre op tests and a tour of the floor I will be staying on with one of the nurses. I also got shown the pre op area and what I can expect to happen before the surgery. That really did make me feel more comfortable.

I'm on day 7 of my pre op diet ( can't beleive I have had nothing but liquids for a week) with 6 more days to go. The first 5 days were ROUGH, but yesterday and today better thankfully. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, now hopfully I won't get any bad calls about my pre op tests.....lol. We have a lot of people still going in this week so many prayers to all you!!!

  5. Hi Shira,

Good to hear from you. It sounds like it was a tough day for a few people........tomorrow has to be better!!!! It's really nice having this September bandster group becuase most of us are in the same boat right now or about to jump in the boat.....lol

  6. KristinsMommy: Sorry to hear you had a rough day........but 9 down, that's exciting!!! Your almost there.......keep up the good fight, it is tough, way tougher than I thought it would be but nothing will deter me from doing what I need to to get this done and I'm sure you (and the rest of us), feel the same way!!!!

Lots of positive thoughts for all of us for a GREAT and easy Sunday!!!

  7. yankee_girl, While it is not the norm that your dr. dosen't have you on a pre op diet, it's not totally unheard of. My girlfriend didn't have to do the pre op diet because her dr. said her BMI didn't warrent one. Maybe your dr. examined you and felt your liver and didn't feel like it needed any shrinking? Or maybe your dr. just isn't worried about it.

The main reason a dr. puts you on a low fat, low carb diet is to shrink your liver so they can esaily get it out of the way so they can get to your stomach easy. Usually people with a higher BMI have an larger liver. The liver size is greatly reduced by the pre op diet.

If your concerned, give your dr. office a call on Tuesday and ask about it. I'm sure it will be fine, but I would check for my own peace of mind. :)

  8. Hi ****ReadyforChange****, sorry to hear about your date change, it happened to me as well, but I wasen't on the liquid diet at the time, that would be really hard becuase I feel like you I just want this part to be over. The most positive thing I can think of to say though, is that just think what a perfect size your liver will be for the dr., that's the thing that worries me the most!!!! One day at a time here!!!

  9. Straughn: YOU CAN DO THESE LAST 10 POUNDS!! I started my liquid diet on Wednesday and as of this morning I have lost 10 pounds and I still have 10 days to go. Your right, you have come to far to go back now. I'm not going to tell you i'm not starving, but today is better than yesterday and I think every day will just get easier as I get used to this. Keep up the good work and congrats on your surgery date!!!

  10. Hi Helen,

I hope you are feeling better. The most important thing is that you happy with you. You are right, most likely if you didn't have the band you would be in a worse situation weight wise than you are now. Did your dr. tell you that the band is not a quick fix? It really is somthing you have to be totally commited to and you do have to change your eating habits. It sounds like you were not totally prepared to do that, but hopfully everything is fine with your band and you can move forward.

Have you been to any band support groups in your area? I highly reccommend that. this forum is great, but being able to have support of other bandsters in a group that you see once or twice a month is really amazing. You get those much needed pep talks and maybe you could meet others in the group that have had a lot of success with their band. It gives you a lot of motivation.

You shouldn't have to come on this forum and feel mad that others are doing better. You just need more support. We're here for you, but I would really have a serious talk with your dr. and let her know you are struggling with all these feelings.

I really wish you the best and let us know how you are doing!!
