Cloe-well that ends that subject! Poor Mandi is probably still traumatized. My parents never did 'it' so I am sure Mandi's didn't either! My posters were of Farrah...I can still do my hair that way - but just for the record... I don't. Hot guys from my youth...I think it was Cha-che (Scott Bao or something like that) :kiss2:

    My Life as a Bandster

KW- Yeah on the pants fitting. It's great they are a little tight, it gives you room to shrink. I hate it when people buy me clothes for Christmas. They are always to small and people want me to model it etc...grrrr. Same thing this Christmas. The stuff is way way way too small, and they didn't know about my surgery until after they had bought it. Funny (not really) story- The in laws bought me a really fantastic food scale. It measures calories, fat, carbs, sodium etc... I loved it! Then my mother in law says "Ya, and we bought it before we knew about your surgery, isn't that great?" Hmmm, let me think...I am pretty sure that was an insult, seeing how I wasn't on a diet. Oh well, I just take a deep breath and carry on as usual...is there a smiley for banging my head against the wall?

:biggrin1: Beversman - Thank you for the advice on the peroxide. It was Deiselangel who had the question about it. I was worried to about her too, although I didn't have the details that you have. I am sure she will read this....I hope! Maybe I will switch from polysporin to alcohol, it will probably get rid of some glue marks as well! Thanks.
  5. I live in Canada and had my band done in Mexico by Dr. Ortiz. The cost was $8500 US plus airfare. I have no regrets and had an excellent first class experience. It is well worth it. I feel like I have bought an extension on my life. I had to get a line of credit, but in the long run, who cares. I am sure I wont regret it when I am 80!

Welcom DeiselAngel! I was also banded on Dec 18 and our weight stats are very simaler. I was 284 but only posted 279 cause that is what I was when I started my preop diet. Incisions....I had a bit of oozing from the big one. I have been using polysporin on them. It is working for me. I am a little concerned about the peroxide drying them out but what do I know! Trust your instincts. Have a great day everyone!

    My Life as a Bandster

Yippee! The most amazing thing happened today. I put my uniform on today (afternot wearing one for a week) and it was so big on my that I thought it was one of my old XXL's instead of the XL that I had intended to wear. I checked the tag and it was the XL! Happy days. I have always felt fat and self conscious when my uniform has been too tight. Today is a great day...now I have to go before I am late...hehe. Happy New Year Everyone!

HELP-I feel so desperate right now

Hi Audree. I went through this too. Also, I found a lot of my hunger was head hunger. Once I decided I wasn't hungry it really helped. Also, about 3 weeks before my operation my doctor gave me anxiety medication. I took it when I needed it and it made things a lot easier for me and my family. It also helped me get the sleep I needed. Everything will be OK, you are in the best possible hands. I promise that it is worth it. You can do this, stay calm, remember to breath. You are more powerful than food. xoxo Call me or pm me if I can help you in any way.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Hi! When I was there (Dec 18) it was a little chilly to use the pool. I was very happy with the food. Had the best spinach salad of my life in the dining room there. Very reasonable prices too. When I checked in I asked for a room overlooking the pool. It was very relaxing. The alternative is a room with the balcony on a very busy street....not so relaxing! At the clinic everyone has there own room. You can call home from the clinic at no charge. The phone is right at your bedside so it is very convenient. They are so awesome there! I had an amazing experience! Best wishes to everyone!

I cannot believe I fit in that.

This is so exciting! I think I would have died right there! Congrats! I cant wait to join you! By the way, I agree with the tummy and boobs, I have to pay off my line of credit as I loose the weight so I can spend it all again on repairs! (Something I will gladly do!)

    My Life as a Bandster

ahuber -Hi there. It is nice to hear from you. I am still in GP, I am leaving on Friday aft. I am suprised you are albe to eat so soon. I tried having about 4 bites of rice and had to get up and walk it off. I felt like I was going to choke or like I had really bad anxiety. I guess everyone is different. However, I did discover that if you let chocolate melt in your mouth it is a liquid and slides down easily! My doc has me on clear liq for the first week and then full fluids for the second week and then straight to solid food, but eating protien and vegis before anything else. What kind of post op does your doctor have you on. I can't believe the differences in doctors advice! It makes it interesting though! Becca77-You will get to that stage...I was the QUEEN of that stage...you will love how good it feels to be in control. My husband even commented on it the other day. He was expecting me to be evil and I have been fine! Pre-band life, it was almost as if I panicked. I felt like if I got hungry and didn't eat right away I would throw up. Weird stuff?! I will be cheering for both of you! We are all in this together! :)

    getting banded at 7am

Best of luck to you. We will be so happy you are doing this for yourself. I am thrilled because I believe I have added many years to my life. Congrats and best wishes.
  15. I did preop of one protien shake and one or two lean cuisines each day. I think the benefit of doing some sort of preop (even if it is not drastic) is that it combats the 'last supper' syndrome. Best of luck to you!
  16. I just crush mine and then mix them in with a little juice and suffer. The secret for me is to always have a chaser (juice) so that I can get that gross taste out of my mouth immediately. Good advice about the time released. I took mine crushed for 2 days....spent a lot of time in the bathroom and blamed it on the surgery. It was probably overdose~oh well, live and learn!

    Advice from you Bandsters!

Hi! The day after my surgery I shopped for about 6 hours without a break. I didn't feel like it at first, but didn't want to miss out. (SanDiego Factory Outlet Mall). I've had a wonderful recovery so far, and I think it might be from walking walking walking. Having said that, I am now a Vitamin pusher because I got quite a bad cold after surgery. I think my immune system was down from not getting enough nutrients and doing too much. Coughing and sneezing was not fun. If you decide to go, enjoy the falls and take your vitamins!:bananapartyhat:
  18. Hi Wheezy. I am happy to hear about your mom. My parents are both pushing 80 and very healthy but I still worry every day. They are such a blessing and steady part of my life. Just wanted to ask you how your holidays are going?
  19. Hi Yoda. I can relate to your story. I went through that last time I lost weight. I just wanted to share something Dr. Ortiz said to me before he did my surgery. He was telling me how much my life was going to change and he mentioned; "You will know you have lost a lot of weight and look really good when you see your family and friends and they don't mention it." I laughed becasue I know it is true...but still it is so pathetic! My new strategy is a game, let's see how long we can go without them bringing it up. It must mean you are doing everything right! PS....And I am glad you FELT as good as you looked. Maybe you could give us the hotline number for the miracle bra as well! Way to go hot stuff!

    December Bandsters

Hi Everyone! I am still away on holidays, but I thought that I would pop in and see how everyone is doing. Sounds like everything is good in bandland. I am still on full fluids for another 10 days or so. I have been getting creative with Soup as well. Keeping an eye on the calories has been the only thing that has kept me from blending up some banana cream pie soup! I am so happy to be able to read through this site and no that what we are all going through is normal and expected. I am at the itchy incision stage...polysporin has been helping. Hope you all have a wonderful new year...it is promised to be an exciting one for each of us! Take care and thank you for sharing your experiences, it is very encouraging.xox.

    My Life as a Bandster

Well Christmas is over and life can start to return to some routine. I am still in Alberta. I waited until boxing day to tell my family. I made no big deal about it...."Oh by the way...." etc etc... and focused on the health benefits, and they were all very happy for me. They have been really supportive. I was fortunate enough to have a bad cold on christmas day, so I didn't have to explain why I wasn't eating! Life is funny sometimes! I have been sticking to creamed Soups, chicken Soup and fruit juice. I am down 22 pounds since the begining of Dec. Not bad! What is really great is that I am happy. Usually when I am 'dieting' I have anxiety, I want to kill people, small animals, vehicles etc... which keep anoying me by existing. Now I feel no hunger symptoms at all and I certianly don't feel deprived. Went shopping today (addition-elle) and bought a pair of pants and a jacket. It was fun to look in the mirror and be happy. It was nice to have choices. Usually I just buy whatever fits and doesn't look too horrible. Just imaging what we will all be like next boxing day..... hmmmm. Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the holidays! Happy New Year!
  25. Congrats, you will be so glad you did this for yourself. I went shopping today and it was so fun. I can imagine how much fun it will be 100 pounds from now! I am very excited for all of us.
