  1. I just had mine done last Friday 11/24 in TJ by Dr. Ramon Kelly and he was great. I am not sure about Dr. Ortiz but you will probably get responses from people that have. It was a very min pain procedure. I was back to work on Monday and went home early to lay down but just felt pooped. Not too much pain but my shoulders hurt from the gas. It is easy and quick recovery. I am a week after and feel really good. Not 100% yet but I would say 85% and haven't had to miss a day of work this week. It is hard to only have liquids when I was a big carb junky. I do feel full fast after just sipping some soup broth. I have dropped 10 pounds already and am excited to get down to my goal weight. It will be awhile but I can't wait!!!

    Liquid diet pre-op

I was told that the liquid diet is to shrink your liver because they have to get it out of the way to ido the procedure. If you have a high BMI you are more likely to have a swollen liver if it is a lower BMI then you don't need to go into the dieting faze for as long to make the same effect. This is what my Dr. had told me. Hope that helps.

    November Bandsters!

Since you all are new with the band I have a question? I was banded last Fri 11/24 and every time I try to get soup or anything down I get a very sharp pain in my left shoulder. Is it because when I put something in my stomach it is releasing the gas that went into my body during surgery?? I am not sure what it is? Do you have any info or has anyone else experienced this? Thanks, Vikki

    getting banded jan. 3rd

Hi Kellie, I just got my band last Friday from Dr. Ramos Kelly in Mexico. I was very happy with the treatment in Mexico. I am already back to work and still recovering but feeling good. I just got onto this site today and just love all the information and support. I am hoping to loose 75 pounds. Good luck with your band and it is really an easy procedure with minimal discomfort after. I am on only liquids right now for the first couple of weeks and have my first fill appt for Jan 6th. Any questions please ask. Good luck with your band.

    Another newbie...

Hi there, I just finally got my band last Friday and I discovered this site from my Dr. I just love all of the information on it. I too was denied from insurance so went and had it done from a great Dr. in Mexico. I am in the recovery faze and am looking forward to being one of the testimonies of loosing 75 pounds. I have a family history of morbid obesity which them comes along with all the medical problems that will give you. Diabeties, sleep apnea ext. So I wanted to fight this weight problem now and felt that the band was the best decision for me. Any advice for someone in recovery would be great. Thanks
