    Anyone workout with Wii?

I plan to once we buy one this year. I have seen the WII fit in action and it is a really good program. Just FYI for the larger people, the balance board only goes up to 325 lbs. If you are larger than this I would hold off on the purchase til you are smaller just because you dont want it to sit and draw dust.

    alcohol

Very true Maxi, and if you are currently loosing weight it can stall weight loss as the simple sugars in alcohol actually will burn before body fat so it is a catch 22. Also watch you intake because of 2 reasons: A) You have less food in your stomach to help slow the alcohol's absorption and You are at a lower weight which causes the alcohol's effect to be increased.
  3. First you have to stop comparing yourself to "every" bandster. Men will almost always drop weight faster and quicker than women, there is no way to fix it. Second if you have lost 30 lbs in the first 3 months and you look at Bandster B and they have lost 50 in the same amount of time, don't immediately go "Ok I have failed, or I am doing something wrong." Enjoy that 30 lbs and congratulate yourself. Second do this little math formula. (lbs lost / starting weight) * 100 = The % of your total body weight you have lost. Now follow me in these 2 examples to see why this is important. In the example above Bandster A has lost 30 lbs, their starting weight was 250. Bandster B has lost 50 lbs, their starting weight was 425. Bandster A = 30/250= 0.12 * 100 = 12% of total body weight lost Bandster B = 50/425 = 0.1176 * 100 = 11.76% of total body weight lost. As you can see, yes they have lost almost 2x as many lbs, but still come in at less overall weight loss.
  4. Try very hard to get your calories to at least 1k especially if you are exercising. When I first started I felt like I was eatting all the time, was walking about a mile every other day and was gaining weight (and I dont mean just muscle). So I sat down for a week and tracked my calories. I was only eatting about 400-600 calories a day and was burning off almost that on my walking days so my body shut down and went into starvation mode which even though I was exercising killed my metabolism. Remember you can HAVE calories now, so dont keep yourself on a diet espeically if you are excerising. If you are not then you still need to watch the calories a bit but try really hard to get it above 1k and you will see it really start to drop.

First Fill Under Fluoro and No Restriction

Sounds like the Dr may have slipped up and pulled the fluid on a prior fill and then pushed the 3.5 back in thinking it was the second syringe instead of the prior fills contents

    alcohol

Yeah your best bets if you are not in maintenance is straight hard liquor. Most mixers are where all your hidden calories are. Whiskeys, vodka, etc have about 80 calories per shot. Things like jager and other schnapps contain much more as there is a lot of sugar in there. As posted above watch yourself the first few episodes as your tolerance will greatly decrease because you will have less food in your stomach as well as a lower body weight.
  11. I have better results using ricotta cheese instead of cottage when trying to create Desserts. Here is an example that i LOVE just change the berries to anything in season. Ricotta with Berries

    Not loosing any weight

Burping is completely normal. All the air they put into your body for the surgery has to come out. Plus with the narrower opening i find I really burp a lot when I drink even 3 months post op. As you get tighter the burps happen pretty much each time your swallow liquid but its a good thing not a bad. I know that during that first 2 weeks you pray every day to burp lol. It is normal to be hungry and sick of that liquid diet. First you were probably on the liver diet prior to it so you have had pretty much liquids for over a month. My best advise stick it out til you can go to softies and then normal Protein. I had my first stuck episode last week and it taught me a VALUABLE lesson about slowing down and savoring the food. Also until you have a fill your band is either empty or has a small amount of primer Fluid in it. Until you have your first fill your stomach is pretty much normal just a bit of swelling going on. Focus on the next two weeks about staying healthy, chewing, and learning to listen to the band, the joys will come, it just takes a bit of time.

    Couch to 5K ?

Definitely something to try, I have been doing it @ 329 lbs and still no knee blow out lol. If you have knee issues then definitely have a DR check it before you start but I just take it slow. I still have not fully completely W1D1 due to my size but I am close to being able to complete it, I think that will be a day to Celebrate more than completing the program.
  14. This is too funny, my wife actually had a dream about a cheeseburger too while she was on her Pre-op Liver dient. She has told everyone. Told her I would make her one on week 3/4.

    Inches V.S. Pounds

Yeah I am down a little over 50 and still the same pant size as when I started, apparently I am gonna turn into one big stomach and nothing else lol. And someone said something earlier about calories. Make sure you monitor those, I was not and although I was not hungry I was only taking in about 600 calories a day, and was burning ~ 400 calories exercising and my body shut down the weight loss machine. Gotta remember don't "diet" with the band, let it do the work.
  16. I did the flax seed didn't want to work. I found going to the store and getting the individually wrapped pitted prunes and taking one each morning with breakfast and I am now quite regular.

    Couch to 5K ?

Let me just say this program is good but I think I was a little over optimistic as to what I could do, I gotta remember less than a year ago I was over 400 lbs and sitting on my butt daily lol. Needless to say I can't do the fully 60 seconds of jogging/running required for W1D1 so I will just keep repeating week 1 til I can then move from there, but just doing what I could I still shaved almost a minute off my fastest mile time!! One question I got for the new walkers/runners, I have a bit of a panni and I noticed last night while jogging that the bouncing of it caused some extreme lower stomach pain during and after exercise, almost felt like I had pulled a muscle (didnt know fat could have muscles lol). Anyway how do any others with a bit of a panni compensate? I have some compression shorts I am gonna try but a idea that came to me while I was sleeping was to take a roll or 2 of Ace bandage and wrap up before the run, has anyone tried this?

    Gained a pound.... sigh - week 4

Yeah after losing almost 50 straight in the first month over the past week I have gained 1. Blew me away when I was tossing up -6/-7 lbs a week to see a positive on the scale. Had my first fill but it was small no restriction so I figured I must be overeatting. So I started tracking calories just to make me feel better. What did I find out, I was only eatting 400-600 calories a day even though I felt like I was eatting every chance I could, and when I would exercise I was burning a minimum of 400 (sometimes 600). So my body had went into "Starvation mode" and quit burning calories efficiently. I made myself start eatting a few more calories and when I bumped it up closer to 1k (especially on exercise days) the pounds began to fall again. Keep your head up, as my wife likes to tell me, its just the beginning.

My INS will not cover it if it is < 30 days between fills.

    scared

Yeah mine started at 8AM, Dr spoke to my wife at 830 telling her he was done and I was in Recovery at like 9AM, left at like 3PM. Apparently my "bladder" was still asleep. Plus my IV was bent and infiltrated so I wasn't getting the fluids they were pumping into me to make me pee. 10 glasses of water finally fixed that lol.

    scared

The one thing I had to relearn, if you are a "belly" sleeper, whereas you like to sleep on your stomach face down in the bed, go ahead and start training yourself to sleep on you back, I wasnt able to sleep on my stomach for nearly 3 weeks post OP, not so much from the SG, but from the stitches holding my port into the muscle, that muscle was SORE lol

    Pre-Op Diet: TMI ALERT!

Something I did and it helped since I had to do my 2 week Pre-op during 4th of July, was eat a few stalks of celery during the day. Nothing on it but a little salt but the extra fiber helped me keep from having the "surprises."

    Blood Vessel?

Yeah it is common in the stomach area, if you ever take insulin or know someone that does their stomach tends to be bruised near where they inject themselves. Its not common but it does happen as you have many tiny blood vessels running under your skin that we cannot see. The first fill or two are usually quite small, they are not meant to be the "one and only" restriction, they want to make sure and do it slowly so that you are still getting liquids and things down so you are not in the ER 24 hours later getting IV fluids because you cannot swallow your own saliva.
