  1. Believe me it seems like a lot but you get the hang of it really quickly. The band will ALWAYS let you know when you did something you shouldn't. And there will be times that you do everything right and it still wants to be wishy washy. That is why I call my band Sybil lol.

    Stuck Or What?

Yeah pineapple is a good one, also a bit of meat tenderizer in warm water helps too. My guess with the black bean soup is that you probably had a bean skin slightly cover the opening causing the discomfort but allowing you to still get liquids through.

    Lapband Tomorrow 1/24

Good luck take it easy in recovery tomorrow and take it slow. Baby steps!!!
  4. The #1 thing to also focus on during the pre op is keep AS MUCH FAT out as you can. Keep it as lean as you can (skinless white meat chicken) no pork, cook with sprays to limit the amount of oil etc. The less amount of fat you are taking in will really help shrink that liver. I am jealous that your preop allows you to have a meal, my two week preop was liquids only (the shakes). That was a rough 2 weeks lol. But most definitely worth it. Good luck!!

    Milk Problems Anyone?

One thing are you GULPING the milk or still drinking it as sips? I find that anything I try to drink fast will sometimes cause issues even water and I will actually PB it back up.

    Milk Problems Anyone?

I sometimes RARELY have a slight issue with milk but it is mainly just that it is a bit thick and my band wants to fight it or I drink it too quick. If it is coming back up in chunks then i guess it is getting to the lower portion of your stomach past the band as there is no acid production in the upper portion. Or it could just be the milk mixing with the mucus. That is a bit strange that it is skim milk that is giving you trouble as well as it is the "thinest" which would make it almost like drinking water. That is something I would bring up to your doctor on your next checkup either fill doc or normal MD.
  7. I missed the show but I am honestly glad that he had someone on there that had lost and then gained it all back. While I hate it for that person, it needs to be shown to more people that this is not a "magical tool", a "quick fix", an "easy out", etc. Yeah I lost 200 lbs, did I take the easy way? O hell no lol and it is still something I will fight with for the rest of my life, but I do get so tired of people acting like I took the easy way and so I am glad he showed "the other side."
  8. Yup when I made my goals with my doc I said I would love to be 250. He said I didn't need to be unrealistic and to shoot for 275. Now I am closing in on 175... Needless to say he has me speaking at most of his seminars now lol. Never be a sheep, you know your body. Use this as the tool it is, not as the crutch you expect.
  9. WOOHOO it finally happened today I hit Onederland!!! (199.1 lbs). Down from 425 just 2 years ago. What a great early birthday present and a wild ride!!!

  10. ‎...203 ...4 lbs away from 199. That is just crazy. At 203 I have lost 186 since I started this journey back in July 2010. If you look at my highest which just a few years ago was 425 then I have lost 222 lbs. That means that right now from my heaviest, I have lost more weight than I currently weigh. How crazy is that?

    Alcohol and common sense

Well I will be honest, I don't really 100% know. My doc says no forever, although flat would be ok that is just nasty lol. Other docs say no for 6 months, some say no for a year, and some don't say anything about it. Personally I am not gonna take my changes, yeah I will miss beer but not at the chance of messing up my band or hurting myself.

    Alcohol and common sense

Sadly yes anything with carbonation is a no no.
  13. Also talk to your doc about having the port looked at. If you are self pay I would think that they should have to do the repair for free because there is honestly nothing you could physically do to yourself WRONG that would cause that to happen. It's not like you picked at the stitches or used your abs too much. If you are not self pay then I would think it would fall under a copy with your insurance but every insurance is different. I would honestly look into having it repair sooner than later because it could weaken the remaining stitches to the point they fail and the port becomes loose or with only one set of stitches the port can flip and then you cannot have any more fills until they cut you back open and flip it over.
  14. Dang I wish I could find a real bootcamp class. The only one offered here is a lot of pylometrics only with steps and risers, and then some outdoors stuff running, i want the good stuff like what you got!!

    Woo Hoo ! ! !

Congratz!!! I was banded in July 2010 and well all the winter clothes i bought last year because everything I had was too big.... well guess what I gotta do it all over again. WOOHOO. Don't even mind spending money on clothes anymore because the smaller clothes fit so much better than the double and triple enlargements of the original patterns. Before surgery I was in a snug size 60 pant. Last winter I had to buy a pair of 46's because i had some that I had outgrown before the surgery that now fit (48-52). Last month I bought size 36's and they are actually a little big I should have went 34's. That is just CRAZY!
  16. Life is even better in the 210's!!

  17. O that sucks than yeah anything ab related, jumping related is gonna pull on the remaining stitches. That is why I love Dr Ponce that man uses probably 15 or 20 stitches all the way around I dont think I have ever heard of him having one come loose yet.
  18. Depending on how well your surgeon stitched in the port anything ab related is gonna hurt like a son of a b. Nature of the beast of having a foreign object stitched into the actual muscle. I would not say avoid them but just go easy, especially just starting out and I definitely wouldn't start them until at least 30-60 days post op to allow it to heal.
  19. UGH yes the belly flop lol sometimes i wish I could wear a belt while having sex just because of that one area
  20. Yeah Dr Ponce does his fills very very slowly but it works BELIEVE me. I am down around 166 lbs since July 2010. Ever want to chat let me know and I will pass my cell # along to ya. I love hearing about others stories!

  21. I was early July lost 166 but over the past month or two have not moved. I will drop a pound or two then it will be back the next week. Lots of saggy skin so may just be as low as I will get without surgery. Which doesnt make sense with a BMI of like 32 lol. Who knows Great job you Two!!
  22. I would have to say I sadly look like a Shar Pei puppy lol. But hey only 2 more years and then insurance will pay for it to be removed so yeah I dont like it. Does it get in the way not really maybe a little. Not sure if it is a turn off as being married I dont have too many women checking it out lol. Maybe some single guys can help ya a bit more with some of the questions. lol

    Greek Yogurt

I like the Fage or whatever brand it is. I like the honey one that comes in its own side container not mixed together. That way I can add my own sweetness based on how I am feeling. The premixed versions are nasty!

Life style Change when it comes to eating

Right there with ya its sad when I can take a normal menu item at any restaurant and turn it into 4 decent sized meals and eat for a week off of one item. And it is a correct portion its ridiculous what they put on your plate now a days.
  25. My wife was on 80 day / 80 night lantus prior to the band. Less than 3 months after surgery she no longer has to take any lantus at all nor any oral medication. So yes it can happen be very very very careful of your sugar checks as you can drop too low too fast.
