    lap band dangers

I would really like to see where you got your facts on the 1/3 need re-operations...now THAT is absurd.
  2. No worries, Ape! I struggled a bit today too, this was my second day on mushified food. Yesterday I enjoyed some cottage cheese/hard boiled egg salad and today I admit fully, had mashed taters with my gravy I made from the turkey drippings at a friends house. Also, had some green bean salad, and crustless pumpkin pie filling. And, since I've been home, some great wine and tuna puree with light mayo, mustard, and curry...great! Tomorrow back to 24 hr fitness to hit it hard. I like going to the gym, make it short and sweet, hard and hard. Get in, and hit it, don't talk, don't socialize, do it, hit it hard, hard.

    Help, banded 2 days ago

Hi, sorry to hear and I also had similar issues a couple weeks ago. It was tough getting down liquids the first two days, but eventually got much easier as the internal swelling went down and was able to eat pudding, yogurt, etc. When I first started eating I felt a lot of pressure, which was gas and it finally came out eventually. Don't hesitate if you need to belch , it really helps. My stomach also snarled at me like I was torturing it haha, but that went away too. Hang in there and if you really feel pain or your diahrhea becomes uncontrollable I wouldn't hesitate calling your surgeon. Try to sip Water as often as you can, you may also be a bit dehydrated. Happy Thanksgiving!
  4. Hi! Well I can say from a comparison (i was banded Nov 9 and go for fill Dec 9),.that I have lost about the same-12lbs. I feel pretty good about it, especially now being on the mushies stage! I really look forward to a bit more restriction and eating real food Most of my loss so far was pre-op diet related where I ditched 34lbs. Good job so far and Happy Thankgiving!!!!
  5. Hi, Just FYI, mushies doesn't include food unless it is pureed. Be good to yourself, stomach needs time to heal! FBS

    i am finally banded!!!

Congrats on your banding! I think (or at least hope) what your doctor meant was that you can have low carb/low fat Protein shakes and sugar free pudding? Otherwise you will be consuming a tremendous amount of calories on milk shakes, why would you even want that right after being banded?
  7. Umm I can totally relate. I gained 7lbs in hospital from all the fluids pumped in but am back down plus some a week out. I was on Vicodin almost nonstop the first five days as the incisions were all painful. But to put it in perspective, I am back to the gym doing 45min elliptical trainer after about ten days. To be honest I thought it would be less pain overall too, but have faith it really gets better...fast. I can now lay on my side and getting in and out of bed, sneezing, and most important...LAUGHING no longer hurt! take care, Fbs
  8. Awesome work KartMan! You are my idol LOL. For real, I was just banded a week ago at 302lbs and want to get under 200. I used to be quite athletic and have dreams of triathlons as well in my future. I am glad to make your friendship as I also live in San Diego. I hope you wouldn't mind a question from time to time, especially with the workouts. Thanks so much, Fatboy_Slim

    Bye Bye 300's

    Hit 296 today, yahooooooo!
  11. Hey Sha, Have you been walking a lot? This will help get that gas out Ahh mashed potatoes does sound good! And yes, the Protein stuff for me is hard too..and on the stomach- like instant pain/gas but I know I need it so what can a man do? Enjoy your weekend! FBS
  12. Hi Sha, Just checking in to see how you are doing? I am getting along pretty well other than getting up and down from bed. That first stretch in the morning catches me off guard and I can feel my incisions pull a bit, ouch. So excited to be eating solid liquids today, had some Fage yogurt for Breakfast with a drizzle of natural honey. Also lost the 6lbs I gained from all the IVs of Fluid pumped into me. Yesterday went to work for 2 hours just for kicks and it was fine. Today will go back 4hrs. Goal is to walk 30 min on the treadmill today or outside somewhere and get 1000 calories in. Take care, FBS
  13. Congrats Sha! So glad you made it through well and it will get better :rolleyes2: I also had shoulder/neck pain day 1 and tried to walk around quite a bit which didn't seem to help until I woke up today. However, today my soreness is more in my abdomen..feels like someone performed lap band surgery on me oh my! I am taking liquid vicodin which seems to work better than the morphine on drip. Today got down a few ounces of broth and half bottle of Isopure so feeling better. I am also so glad to be home now, but it was not until 7pm...what a long two days!! Take care and talk to u soon! You should go into chat sometime, it is good people in there
  14. Ape hi! I too was banded today are ucsd Thornton I am sore but good, you? I wish u were my roommate as I am here overnight due to Cpap
  15. Hi! Just a quickie from my mobile...surgery went great today and am in overnite and overjoyed! Good luck 10thers!
  16.  Hi Nov. 10th ers! I was hoping to band with you on Wednesday but just received a call saying I am bumped up to Tuesday the 9th at 10:45 am! Needless to say I was quite surprised and now more nervous than ever. I wish everyone good luck and speedy recovery! Not to brag LOL but today I have officially lost 34 presurgury lbs in about 3.5 weeks woo hoo! Fatboy_Slim
  17. Sha, are you ready?! I know I am!!! Wednesday at 3pm for me, how about you? I am so looking forward to peeling off this fat suit I am zipped up in LOL. :smile2:
  18. You are lucky! Even though I have dropped 30 lbs now preop, my surgeon wouldn't even let me have dinner that was part of a job interview...had to have soup! I am so excited for Wednesday, this 3rd week of diet has been a challenge..and not to have wine like on a friday night ahhh killin me!! I have to admit I had a small bowl of clam chowder yesterday, woke up 1 lb lighter haha. I just hope it doesn't screw up my liver. I know mine needs to be small because they are attempting a single incision procedure in stead of the usual 4-5. Bye and good luck! fatboy_slim

Are heavy people looked at differently

Well being both very fit years ago and a week from banding now, I can definately say I have been treated differently. However, I have also been quite lucky and my friends never said a word about my weight...mainly because I have always seemed happy anyway. But I swear , it does wear on you..to me the words when I walk in to a restaurant or store.. "Hey Big Guy" "What's up Boss"....so tired of this and can't wait for it to end! Especially in So. Cal. people are mostly superficial, fake and put too much emphasis on appearance. I am remembering the sleep apnea, the high blood pressure, the fact I can't tie my shoes, aching back..these are my reasons for the band...not appearance--that will be the icing on the cake! Peace.

    What about beer?

Guess how I got FAT : BEER! BEER + ASSOCIATED DUMB food LIKE TACO HELL AND JACK IN THE CRACK LOL. Beer is going bye bye, See ya beer, Fatboy_Slim
  21. Hi again Sha! Glad you are hanging in there! My pre-op diet is getting easier, on day 8 now. I have found heaven in buying those low fat cottage cheese pack from Knudsen, they have a little fruit on one side and you mix it in, delish! Other than that it is Protein drinks (muscle milk light), and lots of fluids, minimal juices. Tough, but I am down about 23lbs so it's worth it. See ya, FBS
  22. Hi, I have lost about ten pounds in the first week of my pre-op liquids only diet and have two more weeks to go..projecting I will lose at least 20lbs before surgery on Nov. 10. (also have been doing 45 minutes on the elliptical every day). I am hoping to keep this weight off post surgery, has anyone had this great pre-op weight loss but then put it back on once they start eating solid foods post-op? Or will it really stay off?! I am of course hoping it is permanent because I am already feeling better :blushing: Thanks! Fatboy_Slim
  23. wow this is great, we should start a Nov. 10th club :blushing: good luck to everybody! And ape your diet sounds exactly as mine is. When I go weigh in Wednesday I am going to beg to eat one meal!
  24. Great luck to you, and yup we are ready for the new you! Sounds like you are committed and ready! I have surgery on Nov. 10th. Yes! Peace.
