  1. I was sleeved Aug 15th, really didn't start excercising up until about a month ago. Started out slow..about a half mile a day. Now I am walking before work, on my breaks at work and on the weekends. I am doing about 2 1/2 miles of walking a day now and 4 miles each day on the weekends. Lately I have been getting hungry all the time and it seems like i'm just not getting enough. I eat 3 small, and I do mean small meals a day(protein mainly) and I don't snack in between. I only drink 100% fruit juices or crystal lite. Should I maybe be eating more. I was 356 day of surgery and down to 316 now. I may be actually burning twice as many calories as I'm taking in which not sure if thats good or bad. Anyone else like me? And I did forget to mention even though I stay hungry my energy is through the roof!

  2. Gotta do what you gotta do if you are gonna make this thing happen. Only you can decide whether the cigarettes are more important to you than this surgery or not.

Yes they can test for nicotine in your system.......They dont want to risk losing there license if a patient is non compliant and not really mentally ready to do what it takes for this surgery :( Are you taking any aids to help you stop smoking? They have pills, Patches, hypnosis etc..........Good luck on your journey.

  3. I am so stoked right now its not even funny. Went to the doc for my 6 week post op update and I am down 60 pounds since our first office visit in May of this year(preop diet combined with post op). My scale at home is broken since the hands on it have never moved counter clock wise lol. I think I'll go Celebrate tonight with some string cheese and crystal lite----on the rocks!!!!!

  4. I was embarrased about my weight also just like you but then I thought about it and said damnit yes 372 pounds is where I was before I started to take charge of my life and do something about it. I used to wanna hide that number in the back of my mind but now I will tell anyone that asks me because Im not ashamed anymore. I did something about it and you did too. I wanna run around and tell the world now that there is hope for me and everyone out there now suffering from the same issue that I have. Its not gonna be easy by any means physically or mentally but now we have this thing to help us in our struggle. I admire every single person on this site that was brave enough to say enough is enough and had this drastic means of changing their lives including you. We will all get through this thing one way or the other because we have each other as a helping hand. In about a year from now you'll be laughing at how silly it sounded thinking you wont lose the weight. You'll do it, keep the same faith as before you had the surgery! :D

  5. I wanted to start this to see where the August 2011 sleevers are right now and how you're doing. I was sleeved on the 15th of August and to date no pain and Im eating farely well(not much though yayyyyy!)I have lost about 25 pounds since surgery date, about 45 overall. I still get the stomach gurgles every so often when I do eat now but not like at the beginning. I can drink pretty good now and not having to really sip like before. I drink mainly crystal lite and sugar free sports drinks now. I am eating pretty much all Proteins tuna, chicken, baked fish, etc. I dont get as hungry as I used to but its still there a little. One main difference now is I sleep all night and hadnt been able to do that in years. For the most part Im doing pretty good I think, what about you??

  6. nothing to worry about, its not as bad as it may seem at first. I had all the same worries. Myself being a fat man that craves sweets, its wierd because I dont get the same cravings for sugar like I used to. Dont get me wrong, I still do a little but I save that for saturdays. I still watch my calories but I have one dessert scheduled for every saturday so I will have something to look forward to, something I can work hard for all week and reward myself. Yes its only a weight watchers desert, but still. I do have an appetite still but its useless when you can only eat a few bites and get full so quick. Kind of wierd for me and Im still learning but ive had to change my whole mindset. I used to worry about not getting enough food when I ate out. Now I have to worry about buying too much because of how little I eat. Picture the whole thing like this, when you get on semi solid foods, you will probably only be able to eat as much as a 2 year old at one time. Its a trade off, yeah you cant eat finish a full meal anymore, but the compliments I get outweigh that issue any day of the week. You'll do fine. Stay on this site and you will recieve nothing but support. This site is a Godsend for us losers lol!!!!!

  7. sleeved on 8/15/11 and through pre surg and post op lost a total of 45 pounds so far. I guess I underestimated just how much weight that was. Anyhoo, I was sitting at my desk at work and saw a co worker cross his leg. I havent attempted this in probably the last 8 years. I just did it to be cute and crap it worked. I can put my leg fully on top of the other in a sitting position. WHOA MAMA!!! Its the little things us soon to be former fat people appreciate that these skinny people take for granted. It may seem small but thats encouragement enough for me to see that I am on the right path and this was a good decision!!!

  8. dont worry about it. Im a month out right now but they wouldnt let me drink Water that day, not that I even wanted to because your iv will do the job right away. I was drinking an ounce about every hour and could barely get that down. You gotta force yourself to drink but its a must. It gets better over the coming days and you'll be fine. Your stomach will gurgle a lot in the beginning though

  9. i tried something new today and it went down really good. I went to Walmart, for a buck they have a michelenas lean gourmet beef patty with mashed potatoes(190 calorie for the whole meal) the meat was really really soft. Its funny 2 months ago I would have laughed at this and called it a snack for a 2 year old, but it took me an hour to finish it and Im stuffed......link to it http://www.michelinas.com/ProductByIngredient_LG_10630_Salisbury_Steak_Mashed_Potatoes_Beef.aspx

  10. I was sleeved Aug 15th by Dr David Kim in the Dallas Ft Worth area and I'd like to know what kind of meals or food are ya'll eating now. My staple consists mostly of mashed potatoes, more mashed potatoes and even more mashed potatoes. Ive tried a few other things-oatmeal, malt o meal, cream Soups but hadnt tried much else. What is everyone else trying that is along the same timeframe as I am. Gees I look up and im what 24 days out now....time flies

  11. What is your dr's guidelines for right now? Your fluids are so important - make sure you get those in 64 oz minimum - you need that or will be dehydrated, whether you are thirsty or not. I haven't been doing much shakes myself, I don't have a set amount at this stage what I need to have so I have been trying to do what I can do. I find I have to set an alarm to remember to eat, Vitamins. I just drink all day. I am one week further out than you.

the doc says I can do puree right now and supposedly 64 oz of liquids, 64 grams Protein but im no where even close. I am forcing crystal light down right now since I found one I like(fruit punch)

  12. I was sleeved on Aug 15th and have not really had many complications from the surgery besides the norm. Since I have been out of the hospital I have a hard time drinking and eating anything. I know im not doing Protein Shakes like im supposed to and I go 2-3 days without eating ANYTHING. I drink maybe 20 ounces a day or so but im never thirsty. The smell of food does nothing for me now and I hadnt been hungry in two weeks(its amazing how I used to eat when I wasnt hungry pre sleeve too and didnt have to force myself) Anyone else out there like me? I tried sticking to a plan but its so hard to do since I got more time for living since Im not always eating. As of now, I ate about 3 oz of creamy mashed potatoes at noon on friday. I dont even feel run down like everyone says they are. Weird....

  13. wow, I was sleeved on Aug 15th and i have experienced all of the above. My wife was wondering why I was coming out of the bathroom with underwear in my hands and fresh ones on. I said dont even ask, and she says "I didnt sign up for that part of it" lol. It takes a hell of a man to admit he sharted on himself and even a bigger one to use tide lol

  14. Im getting sleeved Aug 15th ith Dr David Kim in Colleyville. The staff there is great and I wasnt put thru any hoops at all. I am on BCBS of California and I just had to take 1 dieting class, meet with a shrink for about 15 minutes, and have 2 qualifying issues( i've got diabetes and high blood pressure. Then they deemed me medically neccessary. I also have a bmi of like 60. It was really easy to do. I paid 500(doctors fee) then 500 deductible for the insurance and then I have like 2800 left to pay in installments with the hospital. I am on like a 3 week liquid diet but thats about it.

I am trying to decide on having the sleeve surgery in the Plano or Dallas area. I have BCBS federal insurance. I would love any suggestions regarding the best doctor in this area and what are the requirements before the surgery. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

  15. Hello all, I go in for my preop in the morning to give blood and meet with the dietician. I am 5'9 and about 384 pounds and so ready to get rid of some of this weight. The liquid diet prior to surgery scares the crap out of me but I think I can do it. If everything goes well, they gave me a tentative surgery date of september 15th. Medical wise, I have diabetes and high blood pressure and hope to lose both once I lose weight. I just need to lose to give me some motivation to even wanna work out. Wish me well!
