    A few more issues

:(I hate to say it, but I am finding it so hard to figure out this new layout that I am almost to the point of letting this site go. I will miss all the information I gain from it, but I had just figured out the other layout since I am new.
  2. I had my surgery October 25, 2010. My port is still very sore. When I stand it hurts. When I wear jeans, it hurts. How long till it heals?:blushing:

I thought the same thing. Everything you are feeling is the way I felt. Hang in there girl! It does get better.

    The little things!

I can cross my legs again without using my hands to help! I love that! I also was able to put on a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in 3 years. I had to buy a smaller bra yesterday. I put on a shirt yesterday and it just hung on me.

Newly Banded : Scared and in pain

My doctor also sent me home with liquid lortab. My recovery was slow and painful and I did not have a hernia repair. HOWEVER.......it does get better! Keep talking to people on here and ask any questions.....you will get answers!

How long before you know if.....

I don't have any restriction yet either, but this morning I was eating too fast and not chewing enough and I got stuck! I knew it right away. I kinda feels like it does when you take a pill and it doesn't go all the way down. Luckily from reading other people's posts, I knew to raise my arms above my head and magically, it seemed to go down.

    2week liquid diet

You will make it through this. It is not fun, but I lost 17 lbs during that 2 weeks.

    surgery wed and chickening out!!

Don't be scared. You are not deprived. You eat till you feel full. Don't let food control your life any longer. Come on and join the rest of us! I was banded Oct 25 and have already lost over 20 lbs!
  10. Banded on the 25th. Port is prominent. Having port pain. No weight loss in last week and a half. No restriction. Not gaining. Not worried yet. Just waiting for that first fill. Wish I could see 6 months into the future.
  11. The first week for me was the worst. I was only able to drink about 2 oz of an Ensure at a time. I had a barium swallow at two weeks out to see why I still felt so full. I had a huge gas bubble that was causing me a lot of pain and misery that was "trapped". Dr told me to lay on my left side, propped up. Weird, but after about an hour, when I stood up, I had the greatest burp ever and I felt much better.

Does anyone ever NOT get a fill?

I was just banded on October 25 and I wish I could get a fill now. I am hungry all the time and can eat too much already.
  13. I had a lot of trouble with gas and they checked and i had a gas bubble trapped. Simple solution: Lay on your left side. It work for me. Give it a try.

  16. Hi Diane! I am orginally from Greer. I now live in Valley, AL, but I come home 2 or 3 times a year. Just noticed a couple of your posts today. Hope your weight loss is going well. When were you banded? I was banded on 10/25/2010.

    Scared! Need a pep talk!

Yes! You are feeling very normal feelings. I mourned over popcorn and cokes. I was addicted to both and now I can never have them again. Think about it........ you are mourning over food!! You need to think of how good it is gonna feel when you start having to look for smaller clothes because all of a sudden, your clothes are all too big!

    Time off work?

I wish I had asked this same question. I had my surgery 10/25 and thought that I would go back to school on the following Thursday......not happening. I had VERY bad gas pains and port pains. Today is the first day that I actually feel good enough to stand at the sink and wash dishes. I would advise to give yourself at least 2 full weeks off. Don't try to push it. It just isn't worth it!
  21. Hi everybody! Well, I was banded on 10/25. This has been a very different experience for me than what I am reading here. When I woke up from surgery....I was crying to them that my chest hurt. It felt like someone was standing on my chest. From the beginning, I had a very full feeling that would never go away. Ever! It constantly feels like I have just eaten too much at Thanksgiving. I have to watch the clock to know when I need to eat. Liquids go down fine and stay down but like I said, I feel full even before I begin. I HAVE HAD AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF GAS! I HAVE BEEN WALKING AND WALKING AND EVEN SO, I CAN HEAR IT CONTINUE TO RUMBLE AROUND, BUT I CAN'T GET RID OF IT. I have tried Maalox and Gas X strips and I still have a lot of gas. My stomach is still very swollen and the port area is VERY tender. I have been in contact with the Dr's office and they did do an xray when I was still in the hospital and the band is in the right spot. They just keep telling me that although the progress is slow, at least I am feeling a tiny bit better and not worse, and I am not experiencing fever or chills. My post op appointment is Friday and I expect them to do another xray then since this full feeling won't go away. I would really appreciate your prayers BTW, I have had back surgeries, c-section, hernia repair, and a hysterectomy AND THIS IS WORSE THAN ANY OF THOSE!.. I was always back to myself after 2-3 days. I'll end with good news: I've lost 21 lbs since I started pre-op diet!

    Just had surgery yesturday

I got my surgery on October 25th and it has been a rough road. The gas has been really bad. The only way I can explain it is my stomach is in a constant state of upset. Can't tell if it is hunger, full, or just swelling. I can only take about 2 ounces. Today is the first day that I can sit up for any length of time without having to lay back down. Walk, walk, walk. Don't stop taking in liquids. It will get better!

    anyone worried it won't work?

I have my surgery today at 2:00 pm. I have thought of this because I have seen a woman at work have it done and fail. She figured out ways to get around the band and will not go get fills. She doesn't try at all. She drinks carbonated drinks so that has probably stretched her stomach. She eats chips and junk food all the time. She drinks with her meals as well. I know these things are HUGE no nos. I am ready for the changes that I have to make for the lap band to work. Lap-Band is a tool and I am going to use it!:huh2:

    lets get it started!

This is really good! Here goes! 1. Going to a baby shower and fixing the little plate of stuff and not feel like I'm starving and I can't wait to leave! 2. Not being the fattest woman in my husband's family! 3. Getting some Victoria's Secret underwear! 4. Being proud and not ashamed when I meet my husband's co-workers. 5. Since I'm in college as an older adult, not hearing the "kids" make rude comments about the "old fat chick"!
