  1. I'm so sorry for you and your family at this time. I wish your family peace and comfort at this time. Patty
  2. I'll check Southwest Airlines prices. So far I'm not doing so bad. On my flight to Ft. Lauderdale, I slid into the seat with room to spare on the sides. That means the hips narrowed on me. Most of my weight is, has been and remains in my stomach. BUT... I FEEL LIKE A FREAK!!!! I look in the mirror and staring back is this woman with svelty cheekbones, a boney clavical, flat breast plate, sagging LUNGS down to my waist, dropping stomach that from the navel out looks like ruched drapery. I can now see my "SHOO SHOO" peeking out at me instead of being hidden under the thunder tummy. Upper thighs are also funky looking, lower butt tiny, upper butt hips look like I have someone's Cuban sandwich stuffed back there in the pocket. Add some lace trim to the skin sag on my upper arms and you'd have a nice valance. Yeah, I look like a freak. Maybe I could join the circus, get a cut from the door and pay for my plastics????:w00t:
  3. I'm catching up with old reads here. 143 sounds about right! I have not heard from Sammy of late. I'll keep you posted of his updates. Check the page before this one. I posted a looooooong update and news and then...zip....the next page shows up. I'll repost my request for info.
  4. To SNOWGATOR, BRAVO to you for finding ONEDERLAND. A magnificent goal is achieved.
  5. Hello my friends! No I didn't drop off the planet. I'm still kicking  and counting the days until my trip to Denver. Is anyone else out there having an out of body experience? as in you don't recognize the body you are becoming through this journey? Spring Break was the week before Easter and I took advantage of the time to disconnect. Talking no internet, no cell phone communications and certainly no out of the house in traffic with honking horns and malls with crowds of frustrated shoppers. Rather, the gift of quiet came in the form of relaxing movies, magazines and an environment controlled by me with simple things like lighting, change in pillows, bedding and simple pleasures. Sorry to not post here for awhile. You all might reflect upon your lives and select a time when you can say...WOW, This is the year of change for me. That's been my case. Greater than 1981 when I moved 11 times, when I was on a farm in January married to my middle school sweetheart, to December when I was living in Florida spending New Year's Eve playing cards with friends near Clearwater Beach. Can anyone relate? Lapbandsters, this question is for all of you. Are any of you becoming persons who no longer put up with just any old thing? I saw the day when I would run anything I did past several people for their approval. Right now, as I plan this trip to Denver, I suddenly found I was on the Greyhound Bus site checking bus schedules from Denver to Rapid City. I want to go to the Black Hills. Since I first discovered Black Hills Gold with the rose gold and green gold accents, I fell in love. I have dreamed of seeing the source of the story behind the grapes and leaves since I was atleast 14 years old. I turn 50 in December, it's time. So to my friends out there in the west. I'm arriving in Denver in June. I would appreciate any suggestions on the best way to get there from Denver. Should I fly? Should I take a bus? Should I rent a car? All in all, my mind can only envision myself out there, far from the palm trees, sand and surf, staring at those enormous mountains you all are so fortunate to have. My appt. with the good doctor is the 11th or the 9th, Tuesday or Thursday, I don't have my planner nearby. And from there one of the reasons Colordo was chosen to have my surgery was because going for a fill is like a vacation to me. *This was one of the best decisions ever made on my part* I don't fear the airplane flight I don't fear the medical exam I don't fear the fills Going out there is an escape into the cool mountains. I love it there. So anyone with cool ideas, I look forward to your posts in response. To those on the challenge, best journeys to you. My scale broke! I haven't weighed since the last challenge but seeing my clothes drop is amazing. An idea for all, thanks to Cherly for her "Pay it Forward" concept. I received size 1X and 18's from her. There is something inspirational about having clothes from someone who is on the same Lap Band journey down that you are on and putting on smaller sizes and knowing the clothes are from them. A way for us to "Pay it Forward." Glad tidings to all. I look forward to reading suggestions for the Black Hills journey in June. Hugs to all. Patty the Lapdancer
  6. Girl you look awesome! I mean totally awesome! I am beyond proud of you!. Way to go. I know you feel, like you are having an out of body experience. Atleast that's what is happening to me.

    Hugs,

    Patty the Lapdancer

  8. Thank you Julie Ann. I love love love the Westin Hotels. Their Heavenly Bed is just like home for me and I have a not so easy time sleeping when I am away from home. I'll keep in mind this location. Very glad they give a discount. ..................................................................... FYI- For those who have pain issues, be mindful that your meds can affect your weight loss. My Dr. Pain said that while RXs can take away the pain, it also can create a problem in constipation:blink: which can impede weight loss. I have just begun using a combination of prunes, chew 30 times and sip with hot tea or OTC softeners OR black licorice or black licorice tea. ...................................................................... Thoughts for today: Do you remember when Pinocchio decides to go to Pleasure Island even after Jiminy Cricket begs him not to go because Pleasure Island is a bad place for little boys? Pinocchio doesn’t listen to Jiminy Cricket, does he? He makes a poor choice. Because Pinocchio makes that poor choice, he grows donkey ears and a tail. You’ve probably never made a poor choice and then grown donkey ears and a tail, but have you ever made a poor choice and things turned out badly? "Our choices help decide what will happen next in our life." In the end, Pinocchio makes some smart choices and becomes a brave, truthful, and unselfish little boy. So listen up! This is what we can learn from Pinocchio and his friend Jiminy Cricket: It’s important to listen to the good advice of those who care, so you can make choices that will help you find your own happy ending. Make it a great day... or not. The choice is yours. >>credit goes to Project Widsom Anybody notice how greedy we human beings can be? It's interesting that greed and hunger are synonymous. In other words, they have a similar meaning. So the question is: What are we human beings so hungry for? Lao-tzu (pronounced la OUT zu), ancient Chinese teacher, said "There is no greater disaster than greed." The Japanese say it this way: "He who knows not when he has enough, is poor." So here are some words of wisdom for those with a dangerous appetite: The fastest way to heal greed is with gratitude. When we count our blessings . . . when we focus on what we have instead of what we don't have . . . gratitude replaces greed ...................................................................... Lastly, please keep in your thoughts a friend of ours "Sammy" who is starting the journey to banding here in Florida. I spoke to him yesterday and unfortunately he went to a TAMPA BAY AREA facility that does banding and was told he needed to pay an additional $1000 PLUS this doctor's own special 'drink' to consume two weeks prior to surgery. *I wish he were going to our good doctor in Colorado* He is extremely obese as I was in the beginning which poses many other complications. Please keep him in your thoughts. *is anyone else sensing the urge to "Pay it Forward"?
  9. Hello Friends: Be sure and check the sale fliers for your finer stores. I love Estee Lauder and Ralph Lauren. Estee Lauder has a free gift with purchase and though it is only a tote bag, Ralph Lauren is always good to sooth the savage work beast. No Loss for me this week. Not surprising, I've had a rough last three days. Did anyone notice the weather around the United States. That would be one reason. Pain has been yesterday and today.
  10. Friends if you want to add me on FACEBOOK please do.
  11. Hey Friends: To Cheryl, here is an I'm SO SORRY because I did not contact you when I suspected I would be delaying my trip to Denver. I myself hate hearing things through the grapevine so my bad in not letting you know sooner and before you read it elsewhere. ... Weigh Down, put me down for minus two lbs. ( -2.0 ) Don't know what' up with these whole numbers. ... NON-WEIGHTLOSS VICTORIES: I'm able to do LIGHT walking and extra movement with greater duration ( 30+ minutes sustained standing in a pool) more than any time since 1998). Feeling stronger in my core. Am able to lift using stomach muscles and upper thighs. Went to the store without using the scooter or leaning on a buggy. Shopped for 45 minutes without sitting down. I'm getting ready to buy a new bike for myself. One with a nice comfy seat that does NOT end up inside my anus. ................................................................................................. My daughter is having a flair up from her arthritis and it is a struggle with the baby. The great thing is while her husband is on his deployment in the middle east, she isn't home alone in Texas. She has many hands to give assistance. That was the push behind my change of plans. I always tell my kids "Family First"..time to live the talk. Is everyone out there okay? I am so worried about you all and seeing the weather. Lightening and thunder with snow?? That's so crazy! Please stay in if at all possible. Be extra safe. The Weather Channel was broadcasting all kinds of nasty news and warnings from the Great Plains to Colorado and eastward into the south. I will be in Denver June 11th before and after that date. My schedule is very flexible. Let's plan a get together! I'll leave it to the locals. Cheryl, again so sorry to miss you on this round. BUT for me I still have a long way to go. I feel like we can be in that beautiful city at the same time down the road. The best decision I ever made was choosing this doctor! Aside from choosing the band, I have had no complications with my band. NONE. I can't say that about other surgeries or medications or aftercare from other things I have had done. Going to Colorado, for me, is like a a Rocky Mountain dream. I would like to ask those of you who live out there to name some good places to go to in June. I really am going to do a vacation then. Not weight loss related victories: I can walk longer and farther than I have in years. I am now into a 1X. That 1X is a pretty big deal for me. Have any of you worked with someone who had maybe a little too much baggage in the saddle? only it was some gym time and 20 lbs. wouldn't take care of? yet they MOAN "I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo FAT!" Ever had that? I have. I would think how I wish I only had such problems. .............. So as we all get closer to goal, let us keep our hearts softened for those coming off home plate and running for first. My quote to self is: "Remember the journey." ..................................................... To LOTZASUNSHINE :w00t: Congratulations on seeing the 250's!!! The thrill of a change in number value that is less than what we were use to seeing is a thrill that cannot be bought. I look forward to seeing 250. Take care everyone. I look forward to the day that I can meet some of you and hug you. We are, in our own way, a family. Patty in Florida.

Female Invasion of the Mens Room

First, Plain I appreciate your input. It helps to hear it from a guy. I have always felt like that was the frosting on the cake to our marriage, the PERK to being a couple. I've long since felt like he's checked out. Re: I can hear him on the phone talking to customers (we have a business), his employees, with more enthusiasm than a dinner out with me. He doesn't seem to laugh anymore, he doesn't tell his funny stories and I sense that he is most happiest when I leave him alone. Our daughter moved out and over the course of a few months he eventually took over her room until I noticed his clothes were now in her old closet, shoes, he made an office desk, went out and bought a new computer with his buddy. I was glad to see him find a best friend, this is a friendship he nurtured over years and now they are truly best friends. Although I am happy that he has found a friend he can do things with, kick off his shoes, enjoy the same NASCAR events, it bothers me he seems closer to his best friend than he is with me, his wife. When I asked him, not in a confrontational tone but in an open manner, "don't you miss being together physically?" his response to me was.... "I don't think about it." He went on to say he doesn't watch anything on television that is overly sexual in content, doesn't listen to anything on the radio, doesn't read anything so he doesn't think about it. Yeah, I think he's right too and then some. Yeah Steve I suggested some medicine and in fact, I recently got a cream from my doctor that is suppose to heighten sensation and urge. I could feel the hormone build up and one night went to his side of the bed. He didn't touch me, hold me, say anything in response to what I was doing to his body....he was, robotic. Since divorce isn't an option due to religious beliefs. Counseling doesn't seem a direction to go in because I think he would be there in body but not in mind. He might even resent it because I think he is happy where he is at.

Female Invasion of the Mens Room

I don't want to start a whole thread on this but guys...I've lost 118 lbs. My husband has totally lost all sex drive. Granted, he had a brush with prostate cancer, very mild, came through treatment and the next day went BIKE RIDING, needless to say, I doubt it has impacted his drive. He's 53, I've asked him straight up if he is getting it elsewhere, he laughed. He chalked it up to fatigue. I'm trying to be realistic here. Could any dude on here feel fatigued for 8 months? It's now been over a year since I've been with him. "Counseling" is out of the question. He isn't the touchy feely type who taps into his emotional well of talking to strangers about his thoughts. Meanwhile, his new hobby is raquetball and he doesn't miss his regular game. The reason I add this is where he won't come up with places for us to go as a couple, he will go to events with a friend or two and they go for the good seats. I'm not the type who prints out responses as snaps, "SEE, THESE guys aren't blah blah blah.." I guess I want a guys perspective on this. Is it the amount of weight I've lost and he's just waiting for me to hit home? ( what's another year?) Age thing? Loss of interest? All responses are appreciated, I am can handle all sides of the coin so if you feel like saying it, go for it. Thanks.
  14. Hello good friends. Mark me down as DOWN 2.7 pounds.
  15. The parmesan chicken I described before to you is expensive. Really expensive when you see you are only eating a minor amount of the whole meal. I box up like I said and take it home. If I have meat leftover, I heat it and use bites of the meat as a one bite or two for energy....last use is my pets. Dog Eddie loves leftovers. Kittens love vegetables especially my Mama cat

  16. Part IV

Pause pause pause. I chew slow, I eat slow, I swallow slow and take my time. I am now the last person to finish eating or first to finish because I'm having a 'tight' day or things are not going down rather easy.

Following the principal of small volume, slow eating, tracking triggers that give you dumping, you can begin with frozen things Lean Cuisine, but read labels.

Stay away from sodium because it can bind you up at some point then you might have a rebound of dumping if you happen to eat some combination to release a BM.

Do your best, take it slow, be your own best friend and nurse. If you have persistant problem longer, you are in pain at the point of pain call the doctor. Even if they just say "it's normal' I was always told pain is not normal

  17. Part III

To be honest, I do go to restaurants and order regular foods but this is how it goes: Chicken Parmesan with Penne pasta.

I ask for a take home right off the bat.

The huge plate of food is set before me. I go for protein first. I will slice off and push off all the sauce and go for the meat. Chicken, layered in that much product, is so very soft and easy to go down. Remove the all the breading and take little bites of chicken. Then go for green. Salads come before the meal but because of our bands, greens can fill us up first. I tend to eat my greens at the end of the meal. We're talking tablespoons and bites of two or three. No liquid..

  18. Part II

Start charting what you are eating and in some cases what combintations you are eating that may be reacting to eachother and to your system.

Things I eat on a regular basis are now a rhythm for me. I buy Yoplait, digestive yogurt with strawberries. To that I add steel cut Irish oats or regular oats, about a tablespoon. Let them softened (oats) at breakfast time.

If you drink coffee, know that it can be something that causes looseness. Milk at the wrong time can also cause a reaction. Stay in the middle, half cup, quarter cup serving one day, one meal and maybe make that early in the morning. Take in some of that calcium in other forms and in other foods...Google can help you find foods that contain necessities for the body.

I did keep all my hair, none fell out. Thank God. I made protein number one.

  19. Hi BandtasticMe:

I can onlyoffer this: Every person is different. Your body is different. One thing I learned is that my body did have problems with dumping at a phase of my weight loss.

About three months after my surgery I started what I would call two days OFF and then one day of non-stop. Very hard.

If you are having pain in your bottom, Dr. Kirsehenbaum, my gastric surgergeon for Lap Band, suggested I start with an easy gentle compress after BM. Use of topicals such as Tucks, though painful, will ease that area.

    Part II

  20. Marie, again, luck to you...this time on the job. Cuts already happening in my district.:w00t:
  21. Marie you can do what you want but let me tell you something here, when it comes to money, some families go through the roof and get off the chain about it. We own a business and have encountered 'estate settlements' for years. If there is an evil side to a person it tends to come out when it comes to money and who gets what...but anyway. My inlaws 'sold' a car to my brother in law. The car was a Datsun, probably not worth $1000. My poor bro in law paid, and paid and paid. He never kept track of it but trusted his mom to follow the payments, pop took the cash and she sort of never remembered to always write it down. Finally my sister in law interveened. She went over to the house and insisted on a copy of the IOU. Eventually one was produced and the debt was paid off, OVER Bluebook value. They charged their own son above Bluebook value. So..... Asking you to bring it by so he can 'have a look at it' and having the work done without your okay sounds odd. Odd in that somewhere along the line, dad got the idea he could make the decision. I think I would have some questions for my husband like...did you think it might be the transmission? (maybe) Did you tell your dad if it was anything high end like that could he help you out for now? Usually there is a cause for the effect. Luck dear.
  22. HOTlanta, close enough. I fly to Tampa. Stay an extra day. You'll be sleepy. You will need wheelchair assistance. Call the airline, request a wheelchair coming home. Tell them you are post surgical and will need a wheelchair coming home. They will put that in the computer and when you head home, the wheelchair won't be there...so you tell the airport people ' I NEED WHEELCHAIR ASSISTANCE '. Once you check in, the wheelchair info is on there. You get wheeled up to Homeland Security, shoes off, wear slip ons (mules). They will carry your carry on for you but some Nazi's will not load it in the overhead, I suggest carrying only a shoulder bag. When you get to Atlanta, you are the last one off. They will take you to baggage claim and your family. Some of them will go all the way to your car in airport parking. I tip the ones who are super nice and take care of me. Cheryl see you there.
  23. MINI - Down is better than up in our world. JAIME - I remember when weigh gains were 4 + lbs. MARIE - I hear ya! Stress-o-meter is draining batteries at twice the rate for me. Just hoping that like all things, with time it changes. DEB - Don't sweat it. Could be water weight. Watch the sodium intake. Kayleighsmom - You're moving in the right direction!! ........................................................... Sometimes I think we focus so much on TIME. Everyone should watch the movie 'CLICK'. Really has another message going on there. Cheryl our schedules sound similar. Let's meet at 7 PM at Rockbottom Brewery on the 7th. That's 4/7/09 at 7:00 at Rockbottom Brewery. DEE - Hugs to you.
  24. Miss I love it you got hit on at your HS reunion! Way to go. Julie put me down for -2.0 this week.
