Is This The Right Dress For Me ?

I think you have my exact body type - our lower stomachs are an issue. I just think the shape, fabric, clinginess are not the most flattering. You should look for an a-line or princess cut gown, tea-length. You have a beautiful figure and I think it would be far more flattering. I know it's close - next time try eBay.
  2. I just ended up buying lots of clothing on eBay for cheap. Some friends at work have me their "fat clothes" after they had their babies. some skinny people keep lots of different sizes on reserve, too

    Question

Your surgeon didn't discuss aftercare with you? I think you need to have a discussion with your surgeon's office ASAP.

    Question?

I think that's an overstatement. Maybe no time release pills ever. Not no pills at all. Small ones are ok after the immediate post op healing.

Losing Weight During The Pre-Op Diet

Some people are slow losers due to a terrible metabolism. Some people have an underlying medical problem. Have you gone to see an endocrinologist to investigate things such as insulin resistance, PCOS, hypothyroidism? It's a simple blood test. If you just have a terrible metabolism apart from exercise there is not much more you can do to speed it up. I am a very slow loser even with my insulin resistance and PCOS under treatment. I lost 50 lbs the first year and so far 23 the second 6 months of my second year. I have about 25 lbs more to lose. Guess what? I am down almost 75 lbs! I feel like a million bucks. I do an hr aerobic workout 4x per week. I eat right 80% of the time. Is this your first ever diet? If it isn't, 3 lbs in Just over a week is great. If it is, you at the very least have a sluggish metabolism. Just keep in mind that the band is a way to slowly lose weight and it won't do a lot of the work for you, aside from controlling how much you can eat at one sitting. In considering surgeries, keep in mind you will have to have a lot of patience with the process. It isn't like gastric or the sleeve that weight flies off in 6 months. Keep in mind that it someone has 100+ to lose because they have been downing big macs, they are going to drop a ton going on liquids. It depends why you are obese... Lots of factors to consider. Good luck and just hope you are ready for the self improvement journey of a lifetime! I love my band

    Chafing

I always wear light control girdles - they are like bike shorts in beige. I never have a problem walkin with them.

    Not Losing

Just remember that it takes burning an additional 3500 calories to lose 1 lb. --- that's a lot! Keep in mind you probably have a slow metabolism to begin with. Losing 6-8 lbs per month is actually very good with the band. not sure what you were expecting. I started at 250 (5.6") and lost 50 the first year. That's like 1 lb a week. That's normal. It also depends how much you have to lose and how active you are. The slower you lose, the less hanging skin you will have. I hit 2 major plateaus and exercise hit me through both - once at 217 and once at 190 lbs. I am now at 177. I fully expect every 35 lbs to hit a plateau. Don't freak out if you don't lose for 3 weeks. On the other hand, you might just need a regular fill to get to the right place. Don't avoid it. Fills are your friend.

    Pant Sizes

    Start: 5.5 1/2 250 Size 22 Now: 177 Size 12/14
  10. My surgeon said unless you are at like 9.5 cc in a 10 cc band, there is nothing to be concerned about filling it up. It's there, fill it. I read in a lapband book not to drink for 2 hrs after a meal - its really true for being fuller longer.
  11. I would do it for 50 lbs... The point is that if you follow a few simple rules, you will keep it off. That is precious. Good luck to you!

    Melons

Sometimes. It can be fibrous. You have to chew teeny bites.

    Need Help

You can get acid reflux if your band is too tight or you go to bed too soon after eating.
  14. It's like a chain. Sarah was a 22 and now needs a 20. She gives the 22 away to Jane, and Jill who is now a 12 has 20.

Please Help...to Unfill Again Or Not

You sound just like my husband's situation! I had to check that it wasnt him! My husband has a history of needing 5 fills at .1 instead of one fill at .5. His body just swells like crazy with too much of a fill at one time. It took him literally 2!weeks to rest his stomach each time he filled too fast (not necessarily too much). Last time, He didn't listen to me (had to get that in there) and did a .25 fill because it was a while for a fill and he was on a plateau. He swelled and could not drink. Didn't take care of it right away. Ended up in the hospital for dehydration. Dr did X-ray to make sure band didn't slip. He took out only .15 thinking he should be back to where he was supposed to. Wasn't good enough. Had to remove .5 a few days later to even get anything down. Now he can plow through too much food. He needs a good few fills at .1 now to get back to where he was in the green zone. We learned that you can't just do the math of what goes in, what goes out, and a certain fill mark is the green zone. There is human error with how much try are filling you with. The liquid may stay in the needle and some might not come out. To get to the perfect level you need lots of itty bitty fills to see how it is. Otherwise you will swell and set yourself back a few months when you need a major unfill to heal. As a previous poster said, .05 cc even makes a huge difference. Wishing you luck!!

    Help

As little as .05 cc's has a "demonstrable difference" in the band. I had .3 taken out once due to illness, and when I wasn't sick anymore it felt like I could plow through a ton of food. Like I didn't have a band.y surgeon had me come in once a month the first year.

    Feeling Horrible And Depressed

Did you ever get tested by an endocrinologist for PCOS? Before I was diagnosed with that, I felt like you do. Then I went on metformin and I can lose weight like anyone else now, just really slow. you should try to figure out whether there are underlying reasons for your issues. Good luck
  18. I had a repair and also had an on Q pain management system and it hardly took any time at all. It's not a big deal. And then no more heartburn! Good luck
  19. lawismylife

    Heart Burn!

No, it's not unless you just had surgery and you are swollen. Heartburn either means you are too tight, you slept on a full pouch, or possibly a slipped band. You should call your doc.

Solid Foods But I Want My Protien Shakes

I believe it. My husband gets crazy swelling after every little fill. He needs to fill now in .1 cc increments. Even though he really needs more fill.
  21. There are always risks to surgery but that is not the majority of people. Please read the other posts and see how people feel about the surgery. If you'd rather be almost 300 lbs and let your fear take over your life, well it's your life. And frankly you'd be lucky to have the hanging skin instead of the weight.

    Overwhelmed...

Oh and I got viactiv chewable Vitamins. They are like a chocolate chew snack. Yum! Try gummi vitamins too. Make it like a snack. Try think thin minis. Or the EAS bars. Any Protein bars that aren't chunky with carb crunchiness like rice crispy squares.

    Overwhelmed...

I am a courtroom attorney and it is very hectic for me. I bought ready made EAS shakes. They come in screw-top bottles and juice boxes. You can buy them in drug stores, supermarkets, GNC. They come refrigerated and non refrigerated. They are great. When you need Protein bars, there are many bars with a smooth texture that go down well. Learn where in your life these things are if you need to buy as a convenience. I didn't really use the powder shakes and make them myself because I had no time. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Buy Jello in premade cups. Take them along with you. Learn where to buy/make hot Water and beverages. It takes 90 days to form a habit. Make a plan and follow it. Honestly, if you've ever been on a real diet, this is a cakewalk.
  24. Well, the first few cc's just "prime" the band. I had 3 cc's my first fill alone. How much did you get put into the band? I saw my surgeon once a month the first year and got fills every time. Once you get restriction, you need to maintain it too. Good luck! Once you get restriction, you *will* know!

    Salad?

After about 6 months of being in perfect green zone, I have salads for lunch but I need to eat it with croutons. Somehow the "slider" nature of it helps me process it well. It's not a ton of calories so I really think its fine with a salad with protein in small portions. I used to need a bucket of salad to feel full. Now I can eat like half a salad bar small salad.
