  1. Hello, I am feeling much more comfortable after my deflate but am having to use more self control since my band doesn't have much restriction. Better than vomiting daily! Vicky~ What does your husband have to say about why he told his coworkers? Did he forget your request or is he just excited and wanted to share? I would not worry about your get together. The overweight people will be jealous of your success and the others have probably forgotten. I doubt anyone would be bold enough to bring it up! At my work I told a few people. I know it wasn't kept as confidential as I'd like yet no one has mentioned the surgery to me who I didn't tell about it. You have nothing to be ashamed about and instead should feel proud about how much better you look than last time you saw them! Work it girl!! ; ) Let us know how it goes. Joan

  7. Hello, I started the new challenge for April, "The Spring Fever Challenge." The weigh-ins will be on Fridays starting April 1st and ending April 29th. It would be easier if all months started on Mondays and had 28 days, lol. I hope you join us and that you were able to meet some or all of your goals for March! Joan
  8. So basically, you were not "fat" enogh in her opinoin?! Would she rather you waited until you had 200# to lose like her? She is entitled to her views as are you. Some things are best not discussed with some people and I'd stay away from the weight loss/surgery topic with her! As my mother used to say, "to each his own." You are doing great and don't let her spoil your mood! Joan

  10. Glad to hear you are doing so well! I'll check out your blog. Joan
  11. Not a big loss weight wise but a monumental achievement, ONEDERLAND!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joan
  12. Hello, Chloe~ Yeah for you and your hubby! My hubby is losing weight too and I now weigh less than him. Heather~ Are you taking a multi vit each day? Andrea~ My copay is $30.00. My deflate today was free. : ) My chart said I had 6.5cc, not 7cc. When the Nurse Practioner put the needle in the port she said that 1cc immediately filled the syringe meaning it was under too much pressure/too tight. She took the 1cc out so I am less than before my last fill. My next fill/appt. is scheduled for April 29th. I am feeling MUCH better. Joan
  13. Good Morning, Joan checking in at 204.6, loss of 4# this week, 10# for the month, 3# below my monthly goal. : ) I'll check back later and will get the April Challenge thread up soon!
  14. I am able to see the chart when I click on March Madness Weigh In. Thanks again Vicky! Joan
  15. I think it's a 10cc band. I was feeling almost perfect at 6.5 cc, but 7cc is too much. I think they'll remove about .25cc and then I'll be at 6.75cc. Let me know how it goes after your next fill. When is it scheduled? Joan
  16. Hello, Heather~ I was told that the hair loss is due to not enough protein. How many grams are you getting each day? Newlife~ I am only now really losing weight, about 20# since surgery on Dec 2nd. The goal is 1-2# per week and it sounds like you are ahead of that. I don't want to lose too fast because I don't want to compromise my health/nutritional status and I want my skin to shrink with my fat loss and not hang. I am going in for a little unfill tomorrow. I have been getting stuck/vomiting daily for a week or so. I am at 7cc in my band. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Joan
  17. Absolutely! Thanks my December 2nd "sister"!! Joan
  18. WOW, I think 10# in a month is remarkable! 15 would probably mean you were losing too fast. ; ) YEAH on making your goal for March!! Who is up for an April Challenge? I'll post one to start April 1 to the 30th. Hope you'll join me!!!! Joan
  19. I burp A LOT these days, too. I kinda burp after I eat by choice since I've been banded, like a baby, lol and am not surprised by burps, lol. Joan
  20. So sorry to hear of your struggles! I think you should keep your appointment and ask about what other support they can offer; couseling, nutritionist, support group... When you reach proper restriction it will be much easier to control your emotional eating but you should still get the other support too. You can make this work for you! Don't look to past failures but look forward. We have all failed many times but with the right support, tools and follow up appointments we can all succeed! Hng in there and believe in YOU! Joan
  21. Congratulations on meeting your two goals for this month!! Your stats will be on the spreadsheet. You don't need to and probably can't add your own stats, Vicky does this for us. I am at 207.6 this AM and am anxiously awaiting onederland which I bet you are too! Have a great day, Joan
  22. I agree about reporting the insurance company. I recently had a problem with my homeowners insurance carrier and contacted a state agency in my state called the Public Regulations Committee. Once the insurance company got a letter that they were investigating they "say the light" and paid me! Your state should/must have an insurance oversight state agency. Good Luck!!! Yeah on the smaller clothes! Congratulations on 50# gone for good! Congratulations on your weight loss and smaller clothes! I am also not as interested as I used to be in food. It is interersting! I think you are on the right track to talk with your therapist about your fears. Bad things can happen at any weight. You will be strong and empowered when you reach your goal weight. My band has been feeling tighter than it did when I had a fill on March 4th. This seems to be a pattern with me. I have vomited every day to every other primarily due to my eating too fast, I think. I am definetly on a losing streak and that feels fabulous!!! At my next appointment on April 5th I will ask for a tiny unfill if I continue to get stuck. Keep up the good work! It is so exciting to follow everyone's progress! Joan
  23. Good Morning! Joan~ 208.6 (down 2.4) I lost weight while on vacation for a week! That is definetly a first. ; ) Glad to see the weight is coming off for everyone. Good job!! I'll check in again later. Joan
  24. I had heard from my surgeon, who has a band, that he can only sip liquids when flying. I flew this last week and very cautiously ate and drank without any problems. Have fun on your trip! Joan
  25. I am on vacation in San Francisco this week. I have been walking up and down hills galore, even climbed the STEEP stairs up and down to the Coit tower from the road below. I feel great! Last year at this time I was 25# heavier, at The Grand Canyon, swollen right knee, fatigue, uncomfortable/embarrased about how I looked. I will turn 50 tomorrow and feel better than I have in a number of years. This is the first vacation I won't gain weight on and will probably actually lose weight! I have enjoyed small amounts of the different foods with my husband and son. I carry a Protein drink and bar in my packback for extra nourishment when there aren't great choices available. No sour dough bread for me, lol! I just wanted to share my happiness...
