  1. Joan checking in at 196.0. a loss of 1.4# I was lower in the past week but had a deflate Thursday. I think I was a bit starved and dehydrated when I weighed less on Wednesday and Thursday. Hi Lena, The spreadsheet can only be updated by Vicky. Were you able to view the spreadsheet by clicking on her May Challenge link? Joan I can use all the support I can get, LOL. I think it is key to success. Do you want to chat on this page or by private message? Joan
  2. Hello, Tomorrow, Sunday, is our weigh in day. One week down. Three more weeks to go. How did your week go? What can you improve on for the next week? Happy Mother's Day to all! Joan
  3. Vicky, Thank you for continuing to do our stats! I REALLY appreciate it! Joan
  4. Glad to hear you were able to get a fill! 2 weeks of a liquid diet does seem excessive. After a fill I have a couple days of liquids. That is wonderful! You should be so proud of yourself!! Have you been getting stuck? I think it is time for a fill as long as you're not getting stuck. For me at least, bread does not work when I am restricted! I think you're doing great. Think how happy you'd have been pre band to be losing this fast! I used to dream of losing 4 pounds a month and you've lost faster than that. Comparing ourselves to others is not productive. Be proud of your accomplishmnets! I am going in for another deflate in the AM. I had the 2 deflates then a small fill, .75cc on Friday, and have had evening stomach pains, some vomiting and reflux each night since Sunday. I have about 4.75cc or 5cc in my band. Joan
  5. I had about 6cc in my band, was too tight, had one deflate March 28 and another one on April 25. Each deflate was 1cc. I had a .75cc fill on on April 29. I have been eating and drinking fine through out the day until late afternoon since the latest fill. Things were fine for a couple of nights and then BAM, stomach pains start around 4-5PM, unable to eat anything without vomiting and only limited liquids. Then reflux while sleeping, even when upright. I wonder if I waited too long to get my secong deflate and if my stomach is just plain irritated? At the fill on April 29 my doctor was able to view the band and my esophagus and said they looked fine. I am going back in in the AM for another deflate. Has anyone else experienced this? Joan
  6. No, it's not too soon to start! Jump right in. Joan
  7. I have never heard of a doctor saying you shouldn't be able to eat until 4 hours after getting up?! Different doctors fill at different rates. Yours is probably more conservative than his/her partner. Some people get filled too aggressively and end of having to have an urgent deflate. It sounds to me like you are due for a small fill at your next appointment. Joan

  9. I am almost 5 months post op and have had no problems with hair loss. I always eat 60gm of protein or more per day and have not lost weight super fast like some, 30# since surgery.
  10. I think you are doing great. I agree with the others, be certain you are getting at least 60 grams of protein daily. I didn't start losing much until I reached the right fill amount which took 3 fills. Hang in there, Joan
  11. Yeah! Thanks my "sister"! Joan

  13. Joan checking in at 199.8. I met my goal of <200# but am up from last week. I had a deflate on Monday and my weight went up since I was basically eating very little and not drinking as much as I'd like before the deflate. I had my regular monthly appt. today and my surgeon gave me a .75cc fill. Congratulations to everyone who met all or some of their goals for the month. Day by day we will get there! Who is up for a May challenge? Our first weigh in will be on May 1st and our last weigh in will be on May 29th, all Sundays. I hope you'll join me! Joan
  14. It sounds like you are at a great band place. I feel so much better than I did 4 months ago, too. Isn't it wonderful?! I really agree with what you said about actually making it this time and not giving up. Size 12 jeans! Good for you!! I have an appt. tomorrow. I feel SO much better since my deflate on Monday. I kinda hope I get a little fill tomorrow because I am hungry once again and it's a little scary. Joan
  15. Happy Birthday! I agree, smaller jeans is the best birthday present!!! Enjoy your day! Joan
  16. I feel SO much better! Thanks! That is wonderful! you should feel so proud of yourself! Congratulations on those size 14's! Joan
  17. Hello, I went in for another deflate today. I now have 4.5cc in my band. I was SO sick yesterday with vomiting and horrible stomach pain. I had been vomiting almost daily still since my deflate the end of March. Strange. I am now back to where I was 1 month post op. I have my monthly appt. scheduled for Friday. Maybe doc will put a little fill back in? Joan
  18. Hello, Keep up the good work for our last week of the challenge! I hope your weekend is going well and that you have a Happy Easter. Joan
  19. You don't need to revise your goal. I agree, be happy with doing better than goal! Joan checking in at 197.4, down 4# from last week! My biggest week ever. I am below my April goal.
  20. Now that I have the right amount of restriction, I am losing 2-3# a week. I am choosing high quality foods with only a very small amount of treats.
  21. I agree with the others plus I'd say to not eat anything until you're hungry, liquids only. I got stuck yesterday, vomited my lunch in the evening and had water only for the rest of the night. Are liquids going down OK? Joan
  22. I think it sounds like you're doing great with a steady weight loss and feeling good. This rate of weight loss is healthy for your body and will help your skin adjust, too. If I were you I'd leave well enough alone! Joan
  23. I think your restriction sounds great as long as you are still losing 1-2# a week. I am envious about your band and how you feel. I basically don't eat any breads anymore and I can vomit daily if I am not cautious. I think it's weird that I get stuck and vomit easily considering pre ban the last time I vomited was 1988, LOL! Even when I am stuck/vomiting I am still thankful for my band. It is still worth it to me. I am ecstatic to be down 35 pounds since my preop diet. Joan
  24. I get a bit of soreness sometimes following abdominal crunches. Does your doctor do fill under fluoroscopy? If so have him/her view what might be bugging you. Joan
