    Just a little FYI...

Tip from the RN at my doctor's office. Ask for a diet lemonade with diet cherry and lime.

    August Rush in bandland!

actually worked out today for the first time since April 19. I was just so happy to be able to. I can tell that I haven't worked out in a while. I'm going to have to work back up to where I was at, and I'm hoping to be able to start walking and running again by the end of the month.

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow. I had mine removed on April 20.

    August Rush in bandland!

I broke down and finally bought an exercise bike. I found it on Craigslist, and I can't wait to hop on that thing tomorrow and give it a whirl. 4 months of not being able to work out has caused a huge stall in my weight loss. Hoping I'm able to work out on this. Otherwise I don't know what I'm going to do.

    August Rush in bandland!

Had my 6 week post-op check up from my other surgery, and she gave me the green light to start working out again. I have to take it slow and easy and stop if I feel any pain at all. This has been the longest 3 months of my life. Starting tomorrow, I'm going to start working out again. I'm hoping it helps me mentally because right now I feel like a fat blob. Nothing like having to be pretty much a couch potato for 6 weeks thanks to complications. My fill finally has calmed down. Everything was getting stuck, but I didn't want to get an unfill unless it was necessary. Thankfully, I believe I'm okay now, and the swelling finally went away. I just took it easy with liquids and mushies for a bit.

    August Rush in bandland!

I would kill to be 158 pounds. I might be skin and bones though. Nothing like being tall and having a large frame. 160 is my actual goal weight. I'm not even sure what that would look like on me. The smallest I've been in 13 years was 198, and I was in a size 10. I felt and looked good. Then ended up pregnant with our first. I will get there. Bound and determined to. Amanda - Congrats on hitting 158. I know that every time that second number changes it is like you get a new lease on life. Debating on rather or not to get a slight unfill. Pretty much anything I eat is getting stuck. Maybe I need to learn how to eat again. Might give myself another week to see if I make my bites even smaller if that might work. I really don't want to have to get an unfill.
  7. Take a deep breath, and just know that it is worth it in the end. The only thing I wish I would have done different is having it done sooner. It was the best decision that I could have made. I love my band.

    August Rush in bandland!

I started this journey with a 5x being a bit snug. I actually tried on an XL just for fun, and the thing fit. I about fell over. I have to teach myself how to eat again. I keep getting stuck after this last fill. I did lose 5 pounds between Wednesday and today. Had a protein drink for breakfast, and I will have another one for lunch today in hopes that I'm able to eat supper tonight. We are going to my favorite restaurant after picking up my SIL from the airport. She is coming to give me a hand, since I have had nothing but issues since the "surgery". This is getting old.

The difference from that last fill is HUGE. I can't believe it. I have to force myself to eat. Please, please, please let this last that way for a bit.

    Surgeries after getting your band

I had 2 surgeries since April, and I know that because I was in pain that I couldn't work out like I had been before. The scale wasn't moving like I wanted it too. Mine was mental, and it had nothing to do with the band. I would get frustrated because I hurt and couldn't work out, so I wouldn't eat right. It was a vicious cycle that I thankfully broke. I still haven't gotten the all clear to work out since the last surgery was 4 weeks ago today, but I know that I'm going to get there.
  11. No problems here either. I LOVE my band. Glad that your surgeon is telling you that you have to work at it. I think some people assume this is a cure all, and it isn't. You do have to work at it, but it is worth it.

    August Rush in bandland!

Hoping that I get the all clear in 2.5 more weeks for exercise. I ended up with complications after my surgery in June, and it threw me way off. That is what happens when you don't follow everything the doctor tells you too. I go on the 6th for a fill. I'm so excited. I can't wait to get back to losing weight and working out.

    August Rush in bandland!

Plateaus suck. I had one for nearly 2 solid months that I didn't think I was ever going to break. Went for my 2 week post-op today, and the OB/GYN wasn't happy with the 14 pounds lost in 3 weeks. I think I have a net loss for the last 3 weeks of 12 pounds. What is really good is that I'm 5 pounds away from what I weighed when I graduated high school 19 years ago.

I scheduled a fill for July 6. This will only be my 3rd fill, and my first one since October. I'm hoping I can tell a difference. I can't wait to get one.

    August Rush in bandland!

I've lost 13 pounds since June 9. ETA: The weight loss has slowed down over the last few days. I'm back to normal with that. I just enjoy not being hungry around 3 to 4 like I used to be.

    August Rush in bandland!

I have been on HRT since June 10. I'm still not hungry. I've lost what appetite I had.

    August Rush in bandland!

A little crazy phenom that I've noticed since I started on hormone replacement therapy. My appetite has disappeared. I used to get hungry around 3 or 4, but now, I don't. I still want to get another fill, but I find it strangely odd that this has happened. It also makes me wonder just how much hormones play a part in my appetite.
  18. You are not supposed to be bending or lifting anything over 5 pounds. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy on the 9th because I had too many adhesions for her to safely do a vaginal hysterectomy. She did tell me that the adhesions are caused from the 3 laproscopic surgeries I have had in the last year. ETA: I was told that the bending and lifting is because that even though you might be feeling good, your insides have lots of stitches. You are still healing in there. If I even think about bending over or lifting anything, it takes me all of 2 seconds to realize that was a move I don't want to do. I will ache for a hours afterwards.

    August Rush in bandland!

I'm so ready to be able to get up off the couch and not feel like a blob even though I've been losing weight. It amazes me how much of a difference I feel when I actually exercise. In a bit of I would have never done this 2 years ago news, I signed up for college for the fall semester. I feel so much better about myself, that I want to better myself. I'm finally going to go back to college to finish up my nursing degree. This should be fun with 4 kids.

I did that for the first couple of months, but it got better. Have you tried maybe taking beano or using the strips?

    August Rush in bandland!

Weighed this morning, and I was so excited. I normally gain weight after a surgery, but I actually lost this go around. Having a hard time eating, and I certainly can't exercise. I just planned our Labor Day weekend trip for my family. My dad is turning 65 and my baby is turning 3 that weekend, so we are going to the coast for a long weekend. I want to lose 14 pounds before then.

    August Rush in bandland!

Jan - Have them check your hormone levels. I'm scheduled for my hysterectomy on Thursday. Ready to get this out of the way, so hopefully that I can feel normal again. Whatever normal happens to be. The pain has really affected my exercise routine to the point where I haven't worked out since April 19. I'm looking forward to getting back in the swing of things and starting back for those fills. I'm losing, but it is agonizingly slow. I'm only averaging about 3-4 pounds a month right now.

    vaginal hysterectomy

Gall bladder out on April 20, and I didn't have to get an unfill. The doctor said as long as I was able to swallow a pill without cutting it up, he was fine with not unfilling my band. There has to be enough room to get a tube into your stomach if they need to. I only have around 4 ccs in a 14 cc band anyway. I'm having a hysterectomy next Thursday, and I'm waiting to hear from my OB/GYN if she is going to require me to get an unfill. I'm hoping the answer is no, since I didn't have any problems on April 20.
