    Day Surgery

Surgery was at 11, and I was on my way home at 230.

    August Rush in bandland!

I'm trying to be happy with the fact that I lost the 2 pounds that I had gained, but I'm still stuck on the same number. At least that number starts with a 2. Congratulations to all of those that have been recently banded. Now, I've got to have a chat tonight with my hubby about going to the gym. I'm a stay at home mom that works from home on the side, and I feel bad about asking him to watch our kids when he gets home from working. I have to be able to get to the gym though. I'm very tempted to order the p90x videos. Just worried that I wouldn't be able to do them.

    August Rush in bandland!

My paperwork said 3 weeks or when I felt up to it.
  4. I know that if I haven't chewed well enough, that I get that pressure. It hurts, and I guess it is your reminder to chew, chew, and then chew some more.

    August Rush in bandland!

I'm almost positive that is my problem. I've been keeping track over the last week, and I'm only averaging around 600 - 700 calories a day. Yesterday, I made it to nearly 900, and I actually got in my 80 grams of protein. I also upped how much I was drinking. Hope this helps because it is very frustrating to know that you aren't eating, but you still aren't losing any weight.

    Pre-Op Diet: TMI ALERT!

Yes, until I started eating solid foods again.

    August Rush in bandland!

I'm allowed to eat fish, chicken, cooked veggies that are not from a can, and soft fruit. It is much easier to cook, and I'm hoping that the scales start moving. I'm getting frustrated in it either not moving at all or moving in the wrong direction. I know it isn't from me eating to much because I'm still having a hard time eating any thing at all.
  8. First appointment was June 17, and surgery was August 2.
  9. Sure did. I ate chicken a whole day early. I just made sure it was extra juicy. The canned meats that they said I could start eating on the 9th were not comfortable to eat. It didn't matter how small of a bite I took. They would hurt going down. Yes, I agree, there needs to be some sort of uniform pre-op/post-op plan.

    August Rush in bandland!

Good grief I've gained 2 pounds, and the only thing I can figure is that my body is holding on to what calories I'm eating right now. I've been keeping track, and I've been eating only between 600 - 800 calories. I was able to bump it up yesterday to 900, and I'm hoping that helps.

Never thought about freezing pickle juice. Sounds like a good idea. FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal is an excellent website that you keep track of calories eaten and burned. As well as helping you reach your goal weight.

    August Rush in bandland!

My craving has been for pickles. I actually went and bought some just so I could drink the juice. Was hoping that would help with the craving. It did, but I still wanted a pickle. When I was able to move to mushies, I ate the inside of one. It is nice and mushy.

    August Rush in bandland!

I am glad that I had to go through the 2 week pre-op liquid diet of 2 or 3 Protein shakes a day and Soup for supper. I have noticed that I am not craving fatty foods, sugary foods, or carbs. I might not have liked it at the beginning, but it sure is nice now. I've been on mushies since Monday, and starting on the 16th, I get to start having fish and chicken. I had a baked potato, well a 1/4 of one, for supper and a tropical fruit cup. That was all I could manage to eat.
  14. Are you getting enough protein? Hair falling out in chunks is a symptom of not enough protein.

    August Rush in bandland!

Weighed myself this morning, and I have met my first weight loss goal. I have the main big one, but I have 4 smaller ones. I was so excited when I hopped on the scales this morning, and the big number started with a 2.

Having a hard time with water

I was having this issue to, and when I went in for post-op on Monday, they said it wasn't normal. They took out 1 cc of saline out of my band and a ton of air, and I felt 100 times better. I could feel water going down. I wasn't able to "eat". I would be full within 2 or 3 bites of anything that went in my mouth. It was a very weird feeling.
  17. I weighed today, and I'm sitting on 300. I figure that by the end of the week, I will be below that number. I will NEVER see that number again when I step on a scale, and I can't wait to say bye-bye to it.

    24 hours postop

I know that I had a hard time getting a good deep breath until about day 5 post op. As far as sleeping, I slept better on my right side on the couch. My port is on my left side.

    August rush 2010!!!

Amazing difference between today and Sunday. Finally have energy, and I know it was from actually being able to get the protein and calories that were needed. If anybody else is having a hard time "eating" or drinking after surgery, call your doctor. It isn't normal. They can take out what little bit of saline is in your band.
  20. I was told as long as it fits through a straw when blended, you can have it.

    Low fat soup ideas?

Weight Watchers Broccoli cheese soup is wonderful. Tastes just like what you would get at TGIFridays. 3 cans chicken broth 1 pound of broccoli (I used the frozen type) 8 oz light Velveeta Cheese Boil the chicken broth and broccoli until broccoli is tender. Then put in 8 oz of the light Velveeta cheese until it is melted. Season to taste. I pureed mine after it was done, and it was delicious. By far the best soup I've eaten.

    Are You Telling People?

I will tell any body that asks. I really don't care what other people think. If somebody does make a negative comment, then they can kiss my booty. Which is getting smaller by the way!

    August Rush in bandland!

I posted in the other thread. Oh well. Had what little bit of saline that was in my band taken out today. I wasn't hungry, and I couldn't eat. I could feel every thing that was going through. I finished an applesauce this afternoon which was the first time I've been able to "eat" that amount since being banded. Now, my port site is tender, which she told me it would be. Really love the way that they do post-op. There were 4 of us banded on the same day, so they took us back one at a time, weighed us, checked our incisions, and then showed us to a room. Where we all got to sit and chat for about 30 minutes as they took 3 of us back to be unfilled. Then the nurse set with us and went over our mushy food stage which started today. They will do our first fill the same way.

    August rush 2010!!!

I had between .5 and 1 cc of saline in there plus a LOT of air. My first actual fill isn't until August 23.
