  1. Wow...slimed, I can picture it in my mind and it isn't pretty! Hope you are feeling better now.

Hey, anyone know of a good place for plus sized bathing suits? I called around and no one I could think of has them out except target...and for some reason, they were cut way too short to cover my belly! I wear a 22/24 in clothes just fine, but I even tried the 26 suit and still no coverage! I was soooo upset! We are going to Kaliharri resort in two weeks, and Disney in a month...so I am getting desperate!

  2. If I could, I would soooo go somewhere else!!! I have had a terrible time with communication with Mt Carmel''s staff. I am sorry to say that about my sister hospital ( I work at Mt carmel east) but it has been that way for the entire year I have been doing this! I LOVE Dr Choban, and have no choice with my insurance, so I am just going to keep hanging in there!

Scrap time---anytime, anywhere! Let me know! I work Thur and Friday nights, but I can get away Sat or Sunday. Grove city is fine with me. I am willing to drive!

  3. Hey Girls...Maybe we can have a little scrapbooking retreat? We can get together somewhere and scrap together for a few hours. We can chat about the band and scrap at the same time! I would be willing to set up some tables in our basement (if you don't mind all the mess) and we can hide down there for an afternoon. Heck, we can even bring some munchies and drinks and have a little party?!?!?

Sue--I am soooo glad you are still fighting this! Hang in there girl, it will be worth it!

Special K--I am amazed at how organized you are...actually I am jealous! Looks like you, TM and I will be band buddies! Things will be looking up for us before summer!

Debbi--Did your insurance not need 6 months of weigh ins? That would have been nice. Actually this is my second 6 months...I started over with new insurance. I would have been banded by now if that were the case!

TM--Good luck today! I am thinking of you and your DH!

  4. Good luck today Special K!

Angie, a scrapbook vacation...how awesome would that be!!!

I got a copy of the letter my PCP wrote and sent to Charlene. It was great, but it didn't mention anything about the last 6 monthly weights. I know the insurance company is going to need to see that, so I emailed him back today...hopefully I can get that all sent to Charlene by Friday and we can apply for coverage the first of next week!!! I can't wait!!! I hope I can get all the ducks in a row so I can have the surgery as soon as we get back from Disney March 6th!!!

  5. I totally agree! I think my DH would be at a loss of words if he knew how much I weigh! (Not that he cares!) We both need to get healthy and lose weight, but my weight effects me mentally...and that is the biggest difference. He still finds the energy to get down and play rough with the kids, too...where I shy away from it, and away from outings where I might run into someone I know.

  6. I was in shock! I sent a not so nice email to the web master asking how this could have happend...I did't hear back from them, but the did take the pic off of their name and put it back on mine...Needless to say, I don't use that name anymore.

The weird thing was that I clicked Memberlist and it was on the front page!!! My old name was **Lap Happy**. I guess because of the *, I was listed first...their name was just laphappy. Thank goodness I came across that before my DH saw it. He is always warning me about the internet, and putting personal info on here!

  7. Good Monday Morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Just to keep updated--I am still waiting to hear if my PCP sent the letter to Charlene to be faxed with the papers for insurance approval. I would hope everything would be sent before the end of the week, but that is prob not going to happen...It seems like the "paperwork people" don't really understand how excited/important it is for us to get things rolling! They must have not ever been in our shoes!

  8. TM-I will keep you in my prayers today. I hope you get the news you want!

Well, no call back yesterday from Charlene...I hate this part of the journey! I did email my PCP yesterday with my last weight and told him to fax another letter to Charlene to send to my new insurance company. I can only imagine how long that is going to take!

    Have a great day ladies!

  9. That sounds like fun! I sure wish I could have been there! So was there any talk about when and where to meet next? I think once a month or two would be fun!

Speaking of shopping...I just went to Kohls to pay off my christmas bill and they had their spring line in...OHhhh, I can't wait til next year to be able to shop anywhere I want!!!

  10. TM--wow, what a great deal! I love finding stuff that I need on sale like that! The best therapy in the world!!!

I was really looking forward to coming tonight, but both my kids start swim lessons at 6pm. I don't want to miss their first class. I will make sure to make the next meeting!

Well, I have been playing phone tag with Charlene for 5 days now...She calls me back at home, but doesn't try my cell phone, even after I ask her to call me on it...I know she must be busy, but it drives me sooooo crazy! I remember that last year when I was trying to get ahold of her, it was the same way. Oh Well, what else can I do?

Poor Buckeyes! I feel so bad for them to have made it so far (twice) and to be blown away! It doesn't help to be playing a team in their own back yard! Ok, maybe that is just an excuse...

Have fun tonight ladies...and be sure to share all the details!

  11. ahhhh Kohls cash...gotta love it! I love shopping there for my kids, but I find it really hit and miss for my size. I know I will be there all the time when I can fit into regular sizes...there styles and prices are great!

I sure hope I can make it Tues...it just depends on what time my DH gets home from work!

  12. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Christmas time (with a 3 and 4 year old) was very busy and very exciting! Taking down the tree yesterday was hard for the children to understand...they keep asking if tomorrow is Christmas morning again.

Debbi, congrats on the new fill. I am sure the scales will be smiling at you soon. I also wanted to share that Mt Carmels insurance does cover the band if it is medically necessary...we will see what they say. I am just finishing up my second 6 month diet history and plan to call Charlote today and see about sending it in for approval. I am a little scared at this point...I am having deja vu' with last year. I don't know what I will do if this falls through!

Sue, don't give up! If there is not specific settings on a cpap machine stated, I would think you could fight it! I wish there was a place on here where people would post copies of the letters they have used to win appeals--heck, we are all in this together!

Special K, looks like we are about on the same schedule! I hope to be banded around March 8th or so....We are taking the kids to Disney for Feb 25-March6, what better way to celebrate!

TM, I have thought about you and your family several times this holiday. I know the road ahead is full a bunch of questions...and that can be scary...know that we are here! Let this be the place for you to let your guard down; save your strength for the family!

My husband asked me last night about any resolutions for the year...I just giggled. I told him that I have made the same resolution to lose weight and get healthy since I was 12 years old! This year will be it, ladies...one way or another I will have my surgery!

  13. Hi everyone! I would love to join a local support group! I am currently jumping thru hoops for the second time (see my story on N E 1 forum) to get the band at Mt Carmel with Dr. Choban. My family and I live in Canal Winchester, SE of CBus, but I am willing to drive for a group!

  14. Hello Ladies! I feel like I already know you (I have read all the posts on this thread) so I thought I would fill you in on me!

I am a 30 year old proud mamma of two, married to my college sweet heart, who has gained 100+ lbs since falling in love (1999). I have tried EVERYTHING to do this on my own, and feel like the band is my last chance at saving my life. I have a terrible family history of cardiac problems, and I owe it to my babies to get myself together. My husband has been some what supportive of me getting banded, but he look at me with love-goggles and doesn't see how dangerous it can be.

This is my second attempt at getting my insurance company to pay for the band. Last Nov. (06) during open enrollment I called my husbands insurance company to see if they cover WLS, and 5 different calls to 5 different people said they did. I was so excited. I quickly jumped thru the hoops with my psych, nutrition and letter from my PCP. I met with Dr Choban and loved her! She said I was a great canidate with my BMI and age I should do great...They sent the paperwork in and they denied me. They person said it was an exclusion to the policy. I was heart broken. I called them back to see how this could have happend, and the girl I talked to said it was a mistake...I did have coverage! They said they would resend it again. Two days later I called and talk to someone who said the 6 people I had talk to that said it was covered, were not looking at the right info, and that it WAS and exclusion.

I was devisated! I ate my way to 310lbs. Here I am a year later, trying again with my own insurance. I am doing another 6 month diet history with my PCP, and in Jan. 08 I plan to submitt it again. I hope they don't make me do another psych and nutrition eval, but I am willing if I have to. This is my last shot at it....Heck, I work at Mount Carmel, you would think they would understand why I need it so badly!

Well, Now that I caught you up on me, (are you still awake?), I look forward to joining in on your forum to help support each other on this journey!

    thanks guys!
