  1. amazed at my weight loss this week. =)

    port swelling

The area....it' not red or inflamed or infected looking. Just bulging out a little. It looks a little bit like there's an egg sticking out from under my skin, but smaller of course...by a little bit. I could try to move the appointment up. I'll have to self-pay for the visit though, so I'm not sure if I'll have money in time. =( I will definitely call my surgeons office and see if I can send a picture or something.
  3. I am 20 and just got my band last month. I have lost 16 lbs that I know of. (decided to only weigh-in once a week...got a little obsessive.) I weigh myself tomorrow and I hope that I've lost more. =) Sure I have. I've been following the diet like a mad-woman. =) I, too, have felt my self-confidence rise. I almost feel like I look thinner already although I really don't see any change.

  5. for some reason I feel like I'm dying today. I've already had three really tiny meals that normally fill me up for quite a while, but today my stomach's been burning with hunger all day.

What is going on with this website?

The only thing I've noticed is that I couldn't leave a comment on anyone's status' or profiles...I don't know if it's that way again today, but I DO know the site was down for maintenance yesterday. =/
  7. There is actually a thread in the general lap band discussion forum that's at the very top where you can post your surgery day stories. It might benefit you to read those. It really helped me prepare for my procedure. No I wasn't allowed to wear underwear. I was only allowed to wear a gown and a surgical cap. I urge you to read other bandsters stories, Debbie. =)

    Could this really happen????

The ideal time to weigh yourself is in the morning right after you urinate. If you weighed yourself any time after this then there are a lot of things that could play into what your weight was at the time. (the foods and liquids you've consumed) I wouldn't take it so hard and wait a while before you weigh yourself again and try weighing yourself in the morning.
  9. Trying to start over with the band and attending some kind of support group I think would really benefit you!
  10. I was banded tuesday as well. My doctor told me to wait until 2 weeks post op to begin exervising again. Every surgeon is different though and likes to follow different rules so I cant tell ya what to do haha. I say calling the Doctor in the morning is probably your best bet. =) I plan to begin exercising again just as soon as my 2 weeks is up and I am not so sore anymore. I still have some discomfort and swelling in my port area.

wow look at how little your legs are! great job!
  12. WOW i just saw that you're 5'3 and weighing in the 130's?!? I'm the same height and my goal weight is 135! You are doing so great!!!!

  13. Hey I have a quick question! I don't know if you'll know this one but it looks as if everyone has a number for a reputation. Mine is 10 and it looks like yours is 13. I don't understand the reputation and numbers thing...do you? Can you fill me in?

    Day 1 of Mushies

Ya know, I don't know. I STILL have not had a BM and i'm 8 days out. I was told I couldn't take any kind of laxative, just benefiber with some water to help things along. So it seems I'm having the opposite symptoms. If you have LOTS of diarrhea I would suggest calling your dr or surgeon.

    Sleeping with the band

I'm 8 days out and I still cant sleep on my tummy. =( I am a tummy sleeper and I'm not used to sleeping on my back at all. I can only sleep on my back or on my right side. sleeping on my left irritates my port and is still uncomfortable. I hope it's normal that my port site is still swollen. =S

    Too tight?

I'm glad that you were able to go back into your doctors office. I'm so happy that I found this site because of posts like this. I just got my band 8 days ago and although I haven't experienced things like this yet, I'm glad that I know now what I might do in this situation. So thank YOU. =)

    Simple Math

Thank you for this post!!!! It was really helpful to me. =)
  18. Unfortunetly I'm' not sure whether to be happy for you or be angry at you. HA I don't know whether your post was for support or to stir things up and give off negative vibes. It"s horribly irritating to get onto my favortie web site because of ALL of the helpful people and information that I've gotten here, and find someone who says something like this. If all in all you were looking for support in your decision I don't think that you needed to post your quoted comment above. Although, I AM happy for you for taking a step towards weight loss. I just wish that you wouldn't have posted a comment that might confuse or attempt to re-direct someone's decision to have the band. Simply stating that you were going with the sleeve and that you are excited for your life transformation would have sufficed.
  19. I've decided to weigh myself every sunday...becoming a scale addict!!!

  20. Did anyone use a topical antibiotic like bacitracin or neosporin on their incision sites after they started healing? Would you, or does it sound like a horrible idea? Thank you in advance.
  21. dcowens

    bacitracin?

alright thank you to the both of you. I was just curious. =)
  22. 1 week post-op today! woot! I already love my band. <3

    I'm a loser...and not in a good way

If what you're doing isn't working you need to try something different. My best friend eats horribly and doesn't exercise either. She actually had her band removed once and put back in months later because she wasn't doing it right the first time. She's still practicing her unhealthy ways, but in the midst of all this she lost 80 lbs. I don't get it either, but you need to focus on you and not your friend. You admitted that you weren't eating right and maybe that's all you need to change. =) Smoking will only hurt you and your weight loss. I'm sincerely sorry about things with your boyfriend but know that there are other men out there. You WILL find someone who's willing to commit even if it's not today, tomorrow, or next month. Don't lose hope, You just need to kick into gear. =) by the way, I didn't mean anything that I said harshly or rudely. I feel for you as I've been in VERY similar situations. Just trying to help. I wish you the best of luck.

The day of surgery 6 Days after surgery =)
  25. I asked my surgeon this question recently and he said that loose skin should not be a problem for me. (I'm 20) He said that my age plays a big factor in it, and exercise. I am exercising every day and I hope that that will keep the loose skin at bay haha.
