Surgery date 12/30/10 219 lbs post op 9 days 215 lbs
  2. we are still watching the band rubbing. they will move my port if I choose to.

If you were just banded the first part of July, it took about 10 weeks for my port area to heal and not be such a bother.

I am 7 months post op and my port is located to high. Since I've lost so much weight it's rubbing against my rib when I sit in a certain position.

    Happy Healing

  3. I also use the chewable walgreens brand of calcium the chocolate chew, and it is my tootsie roll too. I was using the Centrum Chewable vitamins, but could hardly gag the taste after a couple weeks. I found a liquid vitamin at Sams Club called Liquid Reviva. Its a high potency multi vitamin, and it's fruit flavored. I think it's good, and you don't have those nasty little pieces of unchewed vitamins to deal with. The best part is that it's less than $10 for a months worth of doses. Good luck with your banding.....its the best decision I've ever made for myself!

when does the port pain go?

This is probably your biggest incision and the port is finding it's home among your other organs. It takes awhile to heal, I think mine felt uncomfortable for about 10 weeks or so. It will get better.
  5. we are going to be taking a road trip to Texas in a couple weeks and I am planning on bringing a case of my favorite EAS low carb protein drinks and Premier protein bars, and plan on stopping at a grocery store here and there for Chobani yogurt. But, my BIG question is...I know we'll be stopping at restaurants most of them fast food...what are my best choices? I have the book Eat this Not that, but I'd like to hear from some of you who have been on road trips and how you managed. Thanks for your input.
  6. Thanks everyone for the ideas. I have not eaten a lot of fast food but you have given me a lot of ideas. It ALWAYS takes me SO long to order, then I usually end up with the same thing....chicken nuggets, which I know will get old real quick on the road
  7. Love the ideas they are all great suggestions. I don't eat bread or rice, but the Mexican choices would definitely work for me. I totally forgot about almonds, which are another good option. Thanks Cocoabean for the suggestion of the cooler.
  8. I am getting to the point that I am used to having the band, and I'm getting to know what foods work for me and what foods don't.

I didn't get a fill at my last weight check and decided that 3 weeks later, I'd better get one. It seemed to take more food to make me feel satisfied, and I felt a lot of the old mind games coming back (it tastes so good, I don't want to sto...

  9. Congratulations!! It's a wonderful feeling to be in onderland and it keeps getting better!! Keep up the good work!! Chris
  10. Hi Everyone I have a couple different pains going on, and I wonder if it's happened to anyone else? I am having port pain that may require a revision. I have a desk job and I'm told by my Dr office that with my weight loss (almost 70 lbs) that my bottom rib is probably rubbing against my port when I sit at my desk. I have a short torso. May need to have Outpatient surgery to relocate my port lower. BUT, the really troublesome pain is about an inch and a half above my bellybutton to the left a bit. It's a burning, nauseaus pain, and I thought I felt a lump when I was running my hand across my stomach tonite. I've mentioned it to my doc last week at my visit, and I am keeping an eye on it for now, but it's quite painful tonite, and I'm having a little nausea. Has anyone else had this kind of pain? I am 5 months post op and up until the last few weeks, have not had any trouble.
  11. thank you CheckYes. I'm hoping that no responses means its probably not due to the band. Maybe it's intestinal or something. The pain went away while I slept last night, but was back again by the time I got to work a couple hours later.

    Any One Hear From MICHIGAN?

Hi there....I am from Wayland MI
  15. Went for my monthly check up today, and I am down another 10 pounds. I celebrated by going shopping for a size 14 jeans!! From a 20 to a 14 since June 2010 I'm feeling pretty good, not having too many problems with getting stuck or pb'ing unless I eat too fast. Then I get stuck a bit and have to either wait, or get up and walk around a bit. I just have to remember that just because the first couple bites went down good....wait for the next bite. I'm having a little pain around my port area, and found out that it's because I have a sit down job and the port may be hitting up against my ribs. We are going to watch this for the next 6-8 weeks and possibly move the port if the pain persists. I have to say that my weekly support groups definately help me. It's my weekly inspiration and check in with my other lap band buddies.
  16. Went today for my monthly checkup and I am down 10 pounds!! YEAH!! I weighed in at 188!! whoo hoo!! I celebrated by going to get a size 14 jeans! LOL

Any one Have Blue Care Network?

I have BCN and I had to go throught the 6 month program. I was really upset at first because I wanted the surgery RIGHT NOW! But, I used this time to go to support group EVERY week, and learn as much as I could. I practiced chewing chewing chewing and started replacing my morning bagel with a Protein drink and Protein Bars. I lost 30 pounds before my surgery on Dec 30 and I've lost another 35 since surgery. Take this time as a "gift" to learn about a very MAJOR life change you are committing to. You'll be surprised how fast the 6 months go. Good luck and keep in touch to let me know how you are doing. Chris
  18. Hi Hollywood! I LOVE your new profile picture...you look great!

  19. Don't sell yourself short!! 19 pound in 12 days is FANTASTIC!! You are losing inches!! Way to go Girl!! whoot whoot!!
  20. hi everyone! checking in with the December bandsters. I went for a check up today and I'm down another 8 pounds. Yea!! I started going to a spin class and it's a fantastic workout ...I love it! We were on the fence about giving me a fill but after talking with Rachel we decided that a teeny tiny bit might give me a better handle on portion size. It seems to take me a bit more to feel satisfied. I hope this makes a difference, because I really think I'm getting close to my sweet spot. Can't wait for the warmer weather to come next week, so I can get outside!!

    Banded on Dec 29th, 2010

I was banded on Dec 30 and I've lost 19 pounds since surgery....I am very happy with that. But, I have lost a ton of inches! I've gone from a size 20 to size 16 jeans. whoo hooo!!
  22. In a nutshell..... All the other program "tools" helped me to lose the weight. The lap band is a "tool" that will help me keep it off. It's a tool...the work is all from the shoulders up. I have to use my brain to help me work the tool. The lap band is NOT magic. I have to work WITH it. Good luck on your journey....

    Surgery tomorrow!

Congratulations on your surgery! The best advice I can give you is to get up and walk as soon as possible and keep your ICE pack on your big incision and full of ice for the first couple of days. Congrats on your pre surgery weight loss, too! You are going to do great!
  24. I didn't lose anything for almost 2 weeks and went in to see the nutritionist. She looked at my food diary and said that what I am eating is good. They gave me another small fill. 1/2 cc. I could tell the difference right away.

I am on my 10th day post fill and I am down 6 pounds. I am at 200 now and hope to be in the 190 by next weekend.

I have started a spin class and it kic...

  25. Happy Banding Day!! I'll keep you and the surgeon in my prayers. Check in with us when you can and let us know how you are doing. -Chris
