  1. Kay here's what happened I can't really eat any kind of amount of food but I can drink Water. It feels like my band is to tight but the last time I had an ajustment I had my band unfilled because I was experiencing the same thing that time. But I really want to know if this has happened to anyone else. Months after an ajustment my band gets tighter I'm confused could it be signs that my band is close to slipping? Help please!?

  2. This is what I felt. Reflux at night. Woke up coughing up and often choking on sour pieces of consumed food with lots stomach acid with it. And on some days the band felt loose (no restriction at all) and on other days couldn't even have a sip of warm tea. Hope it helps.

    thanks for the info

i was worried that my band had slipped but now im pretty sure that its just to tight. i can eat small amounts but things get stuck easily and when i drink Water to fast it gets stuck and i have to cough it up. but no reflux or anything like that.

  3. i don't think your stuck when something gets stuck it kinda feels like heartburn and it hurts. what your describing sounds like you ate to fast or too much best just to wait it out don't drink Water for a while after that happens but sometimes it helps to sip a little bit. Thats what i did when that happened to me.

  4. when i was to days pre op i was in pain but not what your describing but then i was pretty much out of it with pain killers so i slept a lot. But that feeling in your stomach might be the fact that the gas is still there it really does help to walk as much as you can. That heart burn feeling hmmmm should talk to your doctor just to be safe. You should be feeling preety normal by day four or five. I'm only a week post-op and i feel pretty normal besides the fact i cant really eat much:biggrin:

  5. Good luck to you with the band. when i started my process i weighed 396 pounds with the pre-op diet my doctor put me on i lost about 23 pounds. Right now im about a week post op i was banded on the 7th of july. I'm now down a total of 39 pounds:biggrin: and i am so happy:smile2::). when i started this whole process i had over 200 pounds to lose and now i'm on my way there.

Good Luck with your process and good luck with everything. I'd love to hear how everything works out for you.:puke:

  6. I was in the same situation, my doctor originally insisted that I should do the bypass. Main reason being that because I weigh so much the excess weight will fall off me much faster with doing very little.

I personally preferred the band, not only because of less complications but because I wanted to change my life style (eating better and exercising) and not just let the weight fall off, then I wouldn't learn anything.

My doctor recommended the bypass for me also but he was very agreeable when i told him i wanted the band. He wanted me to get the bypass because i had so much weight to lose and that would be easier done with the band. But it always struck me as kinda extreme to change the way your body absords food. With me my problems have always been food portions so getting full with less food is very ideal for me. My doctor pointed out that ice cream, milkshakes and stuff like that won't be stopped by the band but that has never been a issue with me. And so far i'm very happy about my decision to get the band. I say its your body and get what you feel comfortable with:biggrin:

  7. having second thoughts happenes to everyone at some point but you have to think to yourself do you really want to put in all that effort to lose weight traditionally only to have the weight come back to you and then having to go through the process all over again with the lap band some people dont really lose weight but if you have proven that you can lose weight with exercise and diet the band is perfect for you because this will be the last time you have to go through the process of losing the weight because the band is designed to keep you from gaining the weight back. Even if you stop losing weight at some point with the band at least you wont gain anything back so your hard work won't be for nothing. Well at least thats what i thought. i'm only 20 years old and i have been through the whole process of loseing over 60lbs in 4 months only to gain back 60 and keep gaing more:cursing:. I had enough of that so i decided to get it done over a year ago but i had to wait until the past two months because my father was unsure. I was banded on July 7 2010 and i am very happy with my decison. But to each there own if your having some serious doubts you might wanna take in some more info, go to a seminar and talk to the doctors usually it helps to ease some of your worries. Good luck with your decision and don't rush if your not sure it might just make you a little too nervous :grouphug:

  8. I was lucky that i didn't have the headaches but your lucky that you get the jellos and the broth and all that other stuff my pre-op diet was 5 bariactric advantage Protein Shake and unlimited Water. THAT WAS IT! it was insane i made it through one day at a time never thinking ahead because when i did i really started wanting some food. I did sneak in a couple of sandwhiches the first couple of days:blushing: but i kept it simple weat bread with a slice of cheese nothing else no mayo or anything it would help take the edge off. I also snuck a weat sandwhich with deli chicken breast no mayo either on that one. But it is important for you to stick to the diet as close as you can but never it a acutal meal. Because that just makes the surgery last longer. My surgery was postponed by two hours because the lady that went before me didn't do her diet correctly and she was on the surgery table for 3 hours before she finally came out. So its totally worth it to keep with the diet. U never wanna be put under for to long cause that just makes it harder for you to wake up and be ready to go home the same day. It also helps ajust u for when you get out of surgery because you can only drink liquids in small amounts post-surger. Well good luck with your diet if you need advice I'm happy to help just send me a message :grouphug:

  9. Very happy to have found this forum to chat with others who are having surgery this month. Best of luck to you all!

My surgery is scheduled for July 7th. I can't I'm nervous really, just anxious to get moving.

Having been on the liquid diet for two weeks, I can't get my head around the fact that post-surgery I won't have the hunger cravings I have now. My mom had gastric about a year and a half ago and she looks amazing! She said that I won't have the cravings...she better be right

We have surgery on the same day  the whole cravings thing really depends on you, gastric bypass is different than the band. be nice to keep in touch with someone going through the same thing at the same time:biggrin:

  10. I know how you feel about the weight right now i weigh in the 380's. I looked at the scale and i scared myself:scared2: with how much i had gained in one year almost a hundred pounds. Thats when i decided it was times to do something because i couldn't handle this anymore ive be struggling with this since i was five years old it about time i did something good for myself. I'm getting my band on this july and i can't wait to start this journey:biggrin:

  11. I'm gonna get my surgery done on july 7th and I'm worried about the same thing because i have never been put under for a sugery before and i'm worried if i have a weird reaction or that i'm gonna wake up on the table. But then i think people have gotten this done lots of times and then i remember my doctors reputation and then i have to remind myself that i'm being silly. And apparently i watch way to much t.v  We just gotta remember that a doctor knows what there doing and if they don't well you can always sue them
