Hey Tres chic Welcome back! I feel for you. I got my first fill last week and I hate needles. Thank goodness she only stuck me once. I couldn't imagine 5 times. :omg: Anyway I am in the same boat as you. I don't really have any restriction so I am not loosing but I am not gaining either. I think I will have to call for another fill. Let me know how this second fill goes for you. If you feel more restriction and stuff. I know it is different for everyone but I am a curious person.

Hey MacDaddy that is great news (well all but the stolen Jersey). The discomfort will gradually go away. Good luck with your healing process. Congrats on no longer being morbidly obese. :clap2:

I have to agree with my fellow bandies. I chose the band because I like the idea of being able to reverse my decision in years to come if I need to or feel like it. I liked the stats of safety, overall health, weight maintenance, and weight control more so than other operations. And although some would call it a con I like the idea of a more gradual weight loss so as to quell the questions and also to keep my skin and body looking and feeling good.

Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)
Dame J replied to Yoda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh man that is rough. That is so frustrating. Looking on the brighter side of things at least they are fixing things. I have had friends with issues go through the builder and Tarion and still have to get lawyers involved to get things accomplished. Hope they fix everything to your satisfaction and to the way it should have been. -

Yoda are you buying a new home? How exciting. I am too. What is up with your builder -
Canadian Bandsters - what would have made it better?
Dame J replied to argon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I agree it would have been great if Dr. C had moved his office before the surgery (originally he was supposed to be moved into the new office before the date of my surgery) It is so nice now and I think my mom would have felt more comfortable leaving me at the new place than their old one. I would have liked to have recieved a better diet plan or meeting with a dietician. Even an example of an ideal meal plan for a week would have been helpful. I find I am sort of following my old weight watchers, but then again I have run into problems with finding food that agrees with the band. Anyway I am lucky enough to live in Toronto near to Dr. C so no issues with the post op care. Andrew I agree with the phone business. Oh and on that note my mom did call one night after a really bad PB night and left a msg about me being in extreme pain and no one called the next day. It turns out I wasn't dying like my mom panicked and thought, but I thought for sure I would get a call to confirm if things were okay in the morning. Anyway over all I am quite satisfied with my choice of clinic's and these are minor things in the larger picture -
I would like to make another appointment but I feel like I should wait. Well I think I will give it till next wed because then it will be a week and if nothing still by then I will go back and see about another fill. I want to hear about this "restriction" that everyone keeps talking about.
-
So I have made my appointment for my first fill. :clap2: Thank goodness!!! I am so hungry these days. I feel like I can eat anything (that does not mean that I do of course). Anyway so a fill on the 28th. I hate needles so I am dying to go and just get it done so I don't have to think about it. :paranoid Hummm I wonder how many times I will have to make nice with the needle before I find my sweet spot. Also very strange but I read a lot of posts about people who can feel their ports. I can't and I think I have brusied myself trying. I wonder if that is going to make the fill harder. Wonder if Dr. C will have to poke around like an acupuncturist. :welldoneclap: Hope not!
-
Well I am going to wait this fill out but I have the feeling that I will be going back soon enough for another. Feeling back to how I was before the fill. Not pushing things though cause I do not want to have another bad sticky episode like a couple weeks ago.

The gym does sound pretty good. Can't wait to see what it looks like inside. I have only ever driven past it cause it is 5 min drive away from my house. So 21 days or visits to create a habit eh? well I hope it works. I am sure it will. I am already super excited just to go and check it out. I have been visualizing grabbing my gym bag after work throwing it in the car and going to the gym. I have even highlighted some of the classes that they offer that I would want to try out. All classes come with the membership so that is really handy. Hope this place is as hype as I hope it is.

Ohhhhh... Lululemon. I can't fit into their clothes yet. :cry Hopefully someday soon I will. That would be good. I will have to look into the trainer business as well. I think you can sign up with them on a session to session basis which is nice. I might have them help me out with working out a plan to follow. That way I will know what I am doing and how to do it when I start out.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. Although I do walk quite a bit I just really need to do more. Or at least that is how I feel. So I think I am going to look into the gym. I have made an appointment to take a tour of the gym near me and hopefully if all works out I will be a new member of this gym this weekend. It is not a curves or womens only because I do not really have a problem with that but it seems really great with pools, tracks and all of that good stuff. Anyway the price is really good too from what I have been able to see. Hopefully I will be able to make this into my routine and stick with it. I told myself that this time is quite different than 4 years ago when I stopped going to the gym. 4 years ago I would not have been strong enough to make the decision to go through with surgery and I think that is the difference. I am in a new zone now. I mean if I can make the commitment to the band then I can do the same with the gym.

Congrats MacDaddy hope all is well

Bandiva I know exactly what you mean. I really need to get with the program too and get out and not just rely on the band to fix everything. Like you I work a lot and so sometimes I will just turn to what is easy. I have to break that way of thinking and manage myself better. Even though you are getting frustrated you really are doing quite well. Good luck and go easy on yourself.

Mandi congrats on being in the 170's and for the inches off. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I would probably pay more attention to the measurements that you have made of yourself rather than theirs. On another note you said that you go to a gym. I am thinking of joining a gym near me but I am worried that I will go and then stop and I will have wasted my money. ANyway... I was wondering how often you go to the gym and what it is that you do there. Do you do weights, cradio or swim? And did you get a personal trainer or something or did you just sort of create your own system? Full of questions I know.

Well I got my fill yesterday. As I thought finding the port was difficult. I had to push up the muscles in my stomach (who knew I had those) and take in deep breaths for the nurse to get it but hey at least I know how to find it now. Anyway it wasn't as bad a I thought but I didn't really feel anything because I think I was concentrating so hard on that crazy big needle. Anyway it went well and 5 min later I was up and out of the office. No biggie. I can feel a difference though. I just had.4 (I think) put in but last night with dinner I was full quicker and I just felt tighter digesting the food. Hopefully I will see some changes on the scale from this but I know that it can take a few fills so I am not going to go crazy expecting big results just yet. I would like my ticker to move though so cross your fingers.
-
Well I go for my first fill in a couple hours. :clap2: Can't wait to get it done so I can find out what it is like and to see if there is any difference but I also just can't wait to really begin the process of loosing more weight. I have stayed the same the past couple weeks and I need a push.

Mr. Yoda welcome. I know that you read along here with your wife so you are not all that new here. :girl_hug: Good to see you on board and I hope all goes well on your banding journey.

Hey Andrew that is good to hear. Glad things went well for you. Can't wait till next week when I get mine. Hope it goes as well as yours did. By the way you are doing amazing. Your hula girl is really moving! :girl_hug:

Sorry Cloe I meant to say lunch priced plates. I think my brain is still thinking about the restaurant I ate at today. Blah... I meant to say ask if they offer the lunch priced buffet. You will of course have to mention that you have undergone surgery and can not eat much. My friend says when they have their buffet dinners people bring in dr's notes even to get discounts. Oh also some buffets offer a sharing price. so in other words your husband pays full price and you pay a certain amount to share off of his plate. Not sure if the place you are going to offers that but you may have to ask.
-
Cloe I feel for you. I would ask your server if the restaurant offers lunch size meals and portions. My friend (a server) says that many places these days will accomodate that request even if the menu doesn't say so. Restaurant eating with the band is so weird. Today was my first time eating out since the band and after the bad "stuck" incident I have been really paranoid of that happening again especially in front of people. Anyway I ate out a lunch today with the people from my office and everyone ordered a special drink and appetizers. I ordered a glass of Water and didn't touch it, and then I ordered the appetizer for a meal and still took half home. No one commented thank goodness but I was worried that someone would say something and draw everyones attention and questions.

Lappy sorry to hear that you are having 2nd thoughts after the fact. Trust me it will get better. A few days out I had a similar little freak out and thought oh god what did I do to myself but honestly that goes away as things settle in your body. I used to be a Coca-Cola fiend I had at least one a day and I thought that not having one would kill me (more like the amount of surgar I was consuming would kill me). Anyway I have not had a coke since Jan and I have to tell you I am not really missing it. Yoda is right though be sure to research what people are saying about certain foods if you have questions and then do what i do and see for yourself. I have already learned that bread is not as bad as I thought and that yes dry turkey is really bad. You will find out what works for you just give it a chance.
