  1. I know where you're coming from, I had my surgery at just under BMI 35. I actually told my story to a bariatric surgeon who I briefly worked with and when I mentioned being at 34.5 or whatever I was, he exclaimed "But you didn't even qualify!"

Uh, so 5 lbs above and all of sudden I qualify? I would've gained that 5 lbs in a week if I had to, but WHY do I have to?

  2. I've wanted to try cross fit for several years now but always felt too 'big' to give it a try. How far post op is it ok to do something as intense as cross fit? I'm 3 weeks post op and don't have much energy yet. I'm walking but I think that's about as much as I'm good for right now. When did you start doing more intense workouts?

    I wouldn't do Crossfit until you're 3 months out.

  3. I do Crossfit 3x a week and it is bru-tal' date=' but awesome! The 2nd day after a workout is the most painful, and that's the day I'm doing it again, so I'm continuously sore but in a good way ;) It is SO satisfying to strain and sweat and gasp and feel my muscles burn now, because it is earned authentically, and not felt merely because I stood up from a chair or tried to walk up a flight of stairs =(. At last night's Crossfit I flipped tractor tired end over end, squatted endlessly with a barbell across my shoulders, did cartwheels, did handstands, and even attempted a one-handed handstand. At my heaviest it was a workout just getting strapped into an airplane seat =)[/quote']

    Ha, I've converted someone!

  4. If you are choosing fast food because of a financial situation you are wasting money. My husband and I were homeless at one point and during recovery from this' date=' needless to say, we were pretty broke. Since I couldn't yet find a job and had some time, I really looked at the math and realized that fast food is ALWAYS more expensive than buying food at the grocery store (even if you are talking about the dollar meals.) [/quote']

So true! Especially if you have a freezer and can get meat and frozen fruits/vegetables in bulk.

  5. So I've got a fella coming over here in a little while to do some man chores around the house for me, and I've been thinking of how to amuse him while he's painting my bathroom....so I threw on a nice black lace corset, some black thigh-highs, and high-heeled leather boots in front of the mirror and for the first time in my life thought "Man, I kinda look bangin' in lingerie!"

Thanks, Dr. Aceves and Crossfit!

  6. We had a morbidly obese 11-yo when I was on my pediatrics rotation. She actually had a heart attack at the hospital, and she had a million other obesity-related health problems. We discussed having bariatric surgery do a consult on her, but I don't know if they did (wasn't my decision). It was weird to hear everyone talk about how it's such a drastic measure, etc. SHE'S 11 YEARS OLD, 300 LBS, AND JUST HAD A HEART ATTACK, PEOPLE. If that doesn't require drastic measures, then I don't know what does!

  7. I had a somewhat similar experience: Pre-op I went to a small Vitamin shop near my house to buy liquid multis and liquid calcium citrate. I told the salesperson on the floor that I was having bariatric surgery so I needed a very high quality liquid multi. She immediately proceeded to tell me "well first, you should make sure that the procedure is reversible". I told her it isn't, and then she started telling me I should really make sure I want to do it, because having the surgery will make me look older than my age in 10 years. (HUH?!) I told her that it's possible people with malabsorption procedures may have that issue, but I'm very comfortable/confident with my decision.

I came away from the store absolutely livid. I don't have an insecurity about the surgery, but what if I did?! She isn't my doctor, my friend or even a close acquaintance!

Cretins who work at health food stores drive me insane. Most of these people have nothing but a high school diploma, but think they know EVERYTHING.

  8. I'll admit it on here. I was not feeling the same exact way but I was over the relationship and about to leave like you are....and then I got pregnant. So I moved the wedding date up and here we are 2 years later. smh. SO my advice is to leave and get some time alone to re-evaluate your relationship and your personal goals... and don't get pregnant! lol.

Ha, thanks, but we are SO done....as you can see if you read my most recent post, lmao!

  9. Thanks guys, things have actually been going really well for me. The ex is bitter, but we met up on Tuesday to swap cars and he was being a bitter d**k about it. We had planned to do that at some point this week, but I was very busy at work/school, so when he texted me on Tuesday to see whether I could meet up, I suggested Sunday instead....his response was that he was "looking forward to never seeing (me) or hearing (my) voice ever again, and would rather not have to wait til Sunday..." I was like, whatever, screw you, "if you don't care that the car's not cleaned, then sure, I can meet tonight."

Unfortunately, the other day I realized that he has the keys to my shotgun (of all things, lmao), but he said he will leave them with his receptionist, so I don't have to interact with him to get those. But yeah, it sounds like he has no desire to be involved in my life in any way right now, which is perfect.

Anyway, in other news, I've been seeing this one fellow this week, and I just got back from our 4th date. We made plans for some other get-togethers since I have this coming week off, so I suppose it's getting semi-serious, at the least, I'm getting a good FWB deal out of this. I don't really feel like it's any sort of rebound for me, in fact, I'm really relishing the ways he's different from my ex. My ex was a nerdy, out of shape insecure accountant, whereas this guy is an army officer and I'm really feeling all the masculine traits he has that my ex lacked. Today, we went for a walk in the park, and it was a very nice day, so tons of people were running stairs - we have a very long, steep stairs going up the river bank, maybe 300 steps or so? He just threw me over his shoulders and ran up those stairs without stopping once with everybody looking on with their jaws hanging open, I thought it was the hottest thing ever, haha. At the top he told me it was the stupidest thing he's ever done, but still....lol
