  1. Hey there everyone!!!! It has been forever since I have posted anything. I hope you all had a very blessed Christmas!!! Things are going good here, I am thinking I am needing a fill but then today i feel a bit tighter so who knows my next appointment isn't until Jan 19th so we will see if I call to try to get in earlier. I definately overindulged over the holiday and I am looking forward to getting back into the gym and getting back on track. :)

KC: I am curious as to what the coconut water's benefits are?

I have experienced more hiccupping the last couple of days, has anyone else experienced more of that since the band? I hope you all have a very safe New Year!!!

  2. I'm worse with eating out with friends because I get so involved that I don't chew very well. My throw-up have been when trying to talk and eat at the same time.

I have an appointment this Wednesday at 2pm. If you want, I can take the clothes with me and you all can go through them then. It's mostly sweaters from Dress Barn and Lane Bryant.

    Awesome!!! I will be there!!

  3. What has everyone been up to?

My first flight since banding was easy. I just stuck to the liquid before and after, and really didn't feel like eating much later at dinner. We have a few more trips coming up this month and I feel comfortable that things will work out.

My NSV-->I am able to fit into size 16 pants. My mom and co-workers have been telling me to stop wearing those baggy pants, but I held on. So today, I'm going to do the purging of the closet of those 20's & 22's. Lots of work to do cause I love to shop!!!!

I'm really happy that this group is around because when I start to feel like I'm not using my tool right, I can learn different ways to use it here.

    Thanks!!!

I am so glad to hear from everyone again, I too had to have a little bit of a fill taken out this last time...NOT FUN! I am not sure if it was an overfill or if I messed up by chewing too soon either way LESSON LEARNED!!

KC==If you are planning on donating your clothes I would be interested in them, When I started I was a size 24 and now I think I am a 22 or a 20 but I don't want to go buy a bunch of clothes because my journey is long from over. I wish they still had the clothing closet at Malley's. Anyway I can't afford to pay much but if you are interested in donating let me know!!! If not no worries, just enjoy shopping for the smaller size :)

My husband and I went on a marriage retreat this last weekend and I have found out I do much better eating out than at home as far as taking my time....seems like at home I am thinking about the 500 other things I need to be doing and sometimes forget about eating slow  It is a learning process so I am getting better about it but just wanted to share in case anyone else had that problem too.

I hope all is well with everyone!!

  4. Happy B'day KS_sxy. I agree, take a short nap and enjoy your party/evening.

Tiger - I'll be there too on the 19th for a fill.

dm5201 - since you are hungry between meals, I'm sure it's time for another fill. Are you drinking during meals?? Eat Protein first, then vegetables. Omit sugars and check what your total calories for the day are.

Are you keeping a food journal? That might help too.

    Good luck to you.

Lady: My appointment is at 10:45 is it close to yours?

  5. I go for my 4th fill tomorrow. I really need that extra help. Very few meals are staying in my stomach and that growling noise is getting on my nerves.

I bought another skirt this weekend...of course in a smaller size. I'm a huge shopper, so all the stuff I keep buying are smaller sizes than what I wear now.

My birthday is the 16th and we're going to Howl at the Moon to Celebrate. Hopefully I won't get tired and not go.

    How are you all doing?

Happy Birthday!! Is Howl at the Moon in the Power and Light district, if so I went there to celebrate a friends bday in March and had a wonderful time!! Take a nap that day if you need to you will have a blast!!

I go in for my next fill on Oct 19 I can't wait the last time I was there he did not give me anything (which was fine) but now I feel like I am eating too much sometimes or I will be full and then in just a few hours I am hungry again. Then other days no problems, I have not been on the scale in a couple of weeks I am afraid there will be no change :puke:. I am going on a all girls weekend scrapbook retreat this weekend and I can't wait, some time away from all the business I am so excited!

I bet you are loving buying the new size of clothes I have not done that yet i know that my clothes are getting too big but I am waiting til the weather is colder then I will buy more winter stuff.

    Have a great day everyone!

  6. Happy October!!!

Are any of you going to the Walk from Obesity walk tomorrow??? I'll be there, ready to go!!!!

    What has been going on?

No, I wish I could kids have soccer games all day tomorrow. I hope you have a great time!!

Things are going okay here weight loss has stayed about the same the last week or so, I hope that it starts moving down the scale again. I am going to try to get my Zumba classes in next week.

How are you doing? How is football season?

  7. Hey there everyone!!! For some reason I have not been receiving the emails to alert me of posts . Oh well, I wanted to ask, I have been having a few issues since my last fill I don't know if I am too tight or if the band is working like it is supposed to. I can keep down most things but I have had more vomiting than ever before (3 or 4 times in the last two weeks) and sometimes I will sit down to a meal and only two or three bites into it and I am done (and I am chewing very well, and absolutely no drinking) then other days it is better, still not eating much at all but maybe 3/4 cup of food a meal (guessing). As far as weight loss goes I have lost 13lbs in less than two weeks, which I love but I want to make sure I am doing it the right way. I see Dr. Malley on Wednesday so of course I will talk to him but I wanted to hear everyone's input here.

    Have a great day!!

  8. Oh my goodness ladies...I think I had my first experience of something getting stuck tonight...I had brisket for dinner and I don't know if I didn't chew well enough or ate too fast or a little bit of both, but WOW that was the most painful experience I have had in a very long time. Finally it ended coming back up (not trying to be graphic) and I felt better, has anyone else experienced this? Am I crazy??

  9. Okay, for a fellow bander, I'll cheer for the Cats today :scared2: but when the bird and the cat play against each other (even though I think KState has a better team), I'll have to cheer the bird on. Hope you understand . Hopefully you keep yourself hydratated today and have a fantastic time.

Okay ladies that is all great and fine but when the Tiger comes to town.....watch out!!!

Haha, I hope you all have a great weekend and stay hydrated and good luck at bbq's and family gatherings on this holiday weekend!!!!

  10. okay tigermom I'm really jealous. You got banded in July with a 10cc and already have 5 cc in it. I got banded in March, and I'm yet to get there. May ask who is doing your fills at Malley?

I have only had one fill at it was Karen who did it. She first checked to see if I had any Fluid left over from surgery and there was 3cc's already there and she added the extra two to put me at 5cc's total.

  11. Football is starting...slowly. We had supervisor meetings last week and tomorrow I go to meet my new staff and do some quick training. Saturday the 4th will be our first game and I'm so excited. Not only is it our first game but it's also Harley day.

I know what you mean about chewing. But I sometimes feel like I'm chewing so well that everything is slipping right thru. So to ignore the hunger I try to find something to do. Weekends are the hardest right now since I have some time between activities. Once football is in full swing, I'll have to force myself to eat.

Drinking is another area I have to change. I've been chugging a mouth full lately and I need to slow that down.

Today...I will go through my closet and get rid of a few things that are really hanging off my butt!

Have a good one and keep up the good work. I'm gonna have to try that chicken.< /p>

WHOO HOOO on the saggy butt clothes!!!!!!

  12. Yeah, I'm glad things went well for you. I think I'm having a little restriction now after my 2nd fill.

    How is your activity going?

Great!! Last week I did Zumba twice and that was the first time I have done it since surgery and it kicked my tail but it felt great!! I also did my weight lifting program that a friend of mine who is a personal trainer made for me so last week I felt great! This week might not be as productive, we had a death in the family so obviously the schedules are all up in the air for right now but I will try to get it in when I can. :)

Have you stared with the football team yet?? How have you been doing being on the road a lot? I just found out yesterday that McDonalds will give you just a grilled chicken breast if you ask for one and it was only 1.50. That with a little bit of BBQ Sauce for flavor was a yummy lunch! Just need to remember to chew chew chew :(

  13. Hey there everyone!! It has been a while since I have been on the boards I hope you are all doing well. I had my first fill this last Wednesday (8/25) and it went great! I am glad the first one is over so I know what to expect. I am surprised already how little amount of food fills me up. I need to remember to chew chew chew :). I hope this feeling stays with me until my next appointment. Take care everyone!

  14. I'm don't know anything about any of the Protein powders at local stores as I only use unjury. Have not tried anything other than Unjury because once I would get something that leaves a bad taste, I'm done. I use Unjury unflavored Protein powder in quite a few of my flavored drinks. So this might be an option with Gatorade. I also like Crystal Light lemonade with Unjury's strawberry. chocolate or Vanilla with my coffee, but the coffee cannot be over 130 degrees or the powder clumps. This could be an alternative for you all.

LOL I tried the Unjury with my coffee...and I didn't know that temperature made such a difference but boy was I in for a surprise when my coffee was clumpy enough to chew....YUCK  Lesson learned! :)

  15. I may have to return to meetings to meet all of you.

After attending a few, I decided to miss them. Too many complainers who were not working the tool and expecting wl.

I need positive direction to reach success.

It was not exactly what I was expecting but I am going to try to make as many as I can soccer season for the kids is getting ready to start up and that is a very hectic time of year around our house but I desperately need support. I completely agree with you and I need the positive advice and support to get great results!!! I hope to meet you at an upcoming meeting

  16. Hey...it was great to meet you at the meeting.

    How are things going?

Hey there it was great to meet you too!!!!

Can you tell much difference since you have had your first fill? I am excited to get mine. This week is supposed to be beautiful so I am looking forward to getting some more exercise and get back in the swing of back to school for the kids :cursing: Have a great week!!!..

  17. I am tired of this heat!!!! I am ready to get my first fill 8/25. I have not stepped on the scale in a week or so but the weight loss from right after surgery has definately slowed down and maybe even stopped. I can tell that the amount I eat has dramatically reduced but I still get hungry between meals hopefully after fills that will stop.

I have been to the gym one time for a real workout since surgery and it went pretty well it will be easier to go to the gym more frequently once the kids are back in school.

I am proud to say that I have not had a Diet coke since July 12th and I was SO addicted to it and drank way more than I should have so that alone is a victory for me on the road to a healthy lifestyle.

I just wanted to check in these boards have been pretty quiet lately must be the heat!!

  18. Hey everyone just checking in. As of Friday I am on a "normal diet" or what the new normal is w/o breads and pastas. Things are going okay I am worried about gaining weight that I have already lost via the liquid diets. I have found that I am eating obviously a lot less than before and really have had no issues yet with any foods but I can't help but be a little bit worried. I want to make sure I get plenty of Protein but I still feel like I am not getting enough I might go back to some Protein Shakes at least once a day or something. Sorry for the rambling I am looking forward to my first fill and feeling some restriction I would probably not worry as much then.

Looking forward to cooler weather soon, this summer is going by way too fast!!

  19. Hi gals! I'm also in Kansas City. I have a 2.5 year old little one. I'm still on the fence on the whole banding thing. I really want to have it done, but I don't want to wait for insurance to approve and I don't want to self pay.

    tigermom--how are you feeling???

I'm 39 bmi with no co-mo's. If I gain 5 more pounds, I will be 40 which is what my insurance requires. But then I will need to do the 6 month diet/nutrition period. I'm afraid after 6 months my insurance will deny me so I'm considering self pay. Did either of you do self pay? It's hard b/c that is so much money to spend!! I have been eating like a pig and still have not pushed myself to the 40 bmi--I don't think I could stand being this heavy for another 6 months!!

    Any ideas, thoughts, etc??

Hey there!!! I am doing great, I am now 2+ weeks past surgery and I feel good, sometimes I even forget the band is there. Starting tomorrow I am back on a normal diet or what the new "normal" will be anyway .

I had to go through the six month diet exercise thing with insurance and at first I was really mad about it because I was so ready to be banded that I didn't want to wait another six months but it helped me adapt a healthy lifestyle before surgery so that once the surgery happened it was an easy transition. I also for my insurance I had to lose 5% of my body weight before surgery that is what stressed me out the most, and this was again because insurance wants you to have a healthy lifestyle before surgery. All went well and insurance approved, it was a big pain in the neck but well worth not having to pay full price!!

I know I have not been banded that long but it is TOTALLY worth it!!!
