    I Got Stuck Today...ouch!

I am 6 weeeks post op...tonight I had a few small pieces of tilapia(grilled)..a spoonful of mashed potatoes...and I have been in pain since....why? I have not had a fill yet...I am finding that i cannot eat many foods..but doc said to eat the fish as it is more moist....the pain is in my mid back and I cannot drink anything as it hurts more..is this normal for someone that has not had a fill?

    April Bandsters!

I fid that the band is a tool and I have tomake good decisions on what to eat, so I do not have the pain I sometimes get when i eat something that is not good for me...I am eating good, but some things are just givinf me , literally headaches and back pain.. I have not had a fill yet and it is 6 weeks post op for me.. I have been depressed at times as I am not losing as fast as I wanted...but I will take what my body will give me... I have not been able to eat a meal, like I did before...I never finish a meal, even a heathy choice or such....
  3. I am three weeks out today..I am still feeling some restriction due to swelling of surgery. I am scheduled to have a fill next week.. I am debating whether or not to get it filled...even filled at all. I wanted to know if anyone had a band and never got it filled Thanks
  4. OMG ...filrt mingon...favorite of mine have not even tried that since surgery! doc did say chicken can be "dry"..he said try fish, as it is for the most part moisturer food....I have placed the chicken in Soups and gotten the Protein that way...seems to work as not getting stuck.. Got plenty of "sliderfood"
  5. I threw away the lean pocket after two bites...it made me hurt in the are of my mid back..and it was not tasting good...my taste has changed and I am not sure anyoone else has experienced this... I am now trying to get a yogurt down... I am 6 weeks post op and yes I am suppose to be able to eat regular food. Thanks

    Scale Is Finally Moving...

What is the name of the protein shake with 35 grams of Protein?

    Scale Is Finally Moving...

Great to hear...my scale is also slow in moving. so do u think it is directly related to protein intake? I lost 130 pounds back in 1996 and kept it off till 2008...i did not measure daily protein back then..lost the weight on my own with a calorie based diet alone..did not eliminate any food groups..but did not watch protein intake as i am being asked to do now. Just trying to figure out this time, what will move the scale...I guess being 15+ years older might be a factor..LOL

    Solid Foods

I am eating solids, but it takes time and I have to be careful, even at 6 weeks out...everyone is different, I was reading where some people have to have a fill in a month or less and I am weeks out and still having restriction...you will know when u need a fill...
  9. i am now 6 weeks post op....I tried to eat for lunch just now a lean pocket...filled with cheese and bacon(about 240 calories)...I got thru maybe a third and had severe back pain...the ain has lessedned but is still there. I have NOT had a fill....I am finding I am limited in my food still. I have lost 11 pounds since surgery...the scale is stubborn or lets say my body is. At this point, a fill it seems to me is not the answer...to jump start more weight lose.. I did ask the doc and he said he had "primed" the band with saline. any ideas of jump starting the eight lose.. Getting in 700 to 800 calories a day now....not feeling to much like excersing. anyone else feel this way?

    Solid Foods

EAT slowly, chew and chew...dont drink when eating...any sign of restriction, like back pain, chest pressure, stop and wait it out....I am 6 weeks post op and I still have foods that I cannot eat...anything dry or even semi moist at times will get me a bit of back pain. I have not had a fill and was told not ready fror one yet,,,,
  11. I am sooooo close to under 200...I am 201.4....getting there..slowly....I am seeing the scale go down.....but been at 200.8 to 202 for week now... waiting to see the scale go 199.9

    April Bandsters!

I was banded 4-18. Went to doc on 5-14 and he said no fill at that time..since then I am still having some restriction. The question for me is ...I went out of town to have surgery. I do have a list of doctors that will do a fill in my state...has anyone used fillusa? Not sure if that is the correct name ... Anyone have Medicare and getting a fill not from surgeon but from another doc in another state..how des this work money wise? I am 6 weeks out tomorro andhave lost 11 pounds...anyone else losing this slowly? I have been doing between 700-1000 calories a day, mostly under 1000.. Thanks

    April Bandsters!

I went to doctor today for month check up He stated that the band was still "tight" and no fill today I cannot eat alot of foods yet...I tried chicken, back pain...I did some chili and had pain fror 5 hours and he said that this is normal.... Just want to eat some real food....I am getting scared to eat....as the back pain is so painful at times... Today I had yogurt with soe granola in it(the granola was all mashed up and in the yogurt and a cup of clam chowder(minus eating the clams).... He said that chicken is the worst offender of giving us pain...that fish was a much better choice as fish is more moist.....I have placed the chicken in soup...that has helped a bit

    April Bandsters!

I went to the doc today....I told him about my eating and how even a bit of food is making me full..I was banded on 4-18.. He said NO fill as I was being satisified. That he did place saline in the band...at time of surgery... I have been having back and chest pain when eating very little. So that was also a reason he said no to the fill... I am amzed at the range of those being able to eat a regular meal and those that are not able to eat a full meal and are limited to shakes and very small amounts.. MY doc said all people are different...

    Eating Out

Is there a card that states we need to be offered the ability to eat off the kids menu?
  18. I was banded a month ago and I ate a spoonfuls of chili and i have been suffering all day....I go see the doc tomorrow and that is my number one question..MY back pain is mid back and i have rumblings also in the lowee abdomen I cannot belch or let go of gas...I feel like I have entrapped something and the whole area is just all jammed up(so to speak),,, I have had Water but nothing else since the chili earlier.... What confuses me is that I had chili 2 days before that and not an issue...i have been keeping a food journal and when I get this back pain*sometimes chest pain also...I have had this pain mainly in the mornings, but yesterday it was dinner.. I am thinking this is normal....but I plan to ask doc
  19. Hi, I am interested in the calorie count when eating so called normal foods. I am keeping a food journal and I wanted to see what others are doing as far as calories. I have been doing less then 1000 calories a day and I am 3 weeks out Thanks
  20. OH WOW......JUST SPECTULAR for what u have done....gives me great hope
  21. MY doctor stated that he did not place any saline in the band during surgery...I did read the operative report and it is noted that he "primed" the band...what does this mean? Thanks
  22. So IF I am 3 weeks ouut..have not been filled and I am struggling to get the caloiries about or at 1000..I am getting in on average 600-700 calories. I have also found eating even soft food(eggs) in the morning hurts me...my back and chest have pressure and this lasted for a couple hours. So I am thinking no fill for me till I can get the feeling of hunger and also the lack of pain on eating simple soft foods... I am going to start a protien shake in the mornings to see if that will not create the pain
  23. Just hit home for me so much..I lost alot of weight when I was 40 years old and kept it off for 12 years and now I am three weeks post op and am not able to drop the weight even with the surgery(so far) then I did when I was 40 and I am glad you wrote this as I am so in need of a prospective of what I can do now versus what I did then...I am older and need to realize my body is going to react to the surgery and my metabolism is not where it was when I was 40. I thank u
  24. I am going in Monday for a post op visit. Not for a fill..I am just wondering if I can go without one for a long period of time...that is, I am three weeks post op...he said that he did not fill the band at all...I still feel restriction...I ate tonight some pasta(angel hair) had less then a cup...and I am now having chest and back spasms....
  25. Thanks to all..I am not hungry much...maybe later in the evening after I have eaten at lets say 6pm and i am awake at 11p..I get a hunger feeling...
