  1. The toughest part of the surgery is the fluids only for 2-3 weeks, as well as changing gears when it comes to how we eat. You literally cannot eat more than a quarter cup at each meal - weird !! I tried to push that limit a couple of times with awful pain and twice vomitting. Again, this was my fault for pushing.

The first 4-5 weeks are the absolute worse as you are trying to re-train your eating habits and your brain wants to trick you to eat more. Stick to their plan and think of thw weight loss. It is now 1 month and a half since surgery and feel awesome !! I would go back to Jerusalem clinic in a heartbeat and highly recommend Dr. Ponce. He is also a teacher who has taught Dr. Almance.

If you can get this done sooner - I would do it !! The wait kills because it is the unknown - by then - who knows how much you can already have lost - pounds and pounds.

Feel free to e-mail anytime about this.

  2. I made my decision to do this in less than a month and then booked an apt. and did the surgery two weeks later. I had surgery on July 8th 2010 and have now lost 26 pounds already.

I went on my own which was scary but it was the best thing I ever did - time to heal with no one to worry about. Hospital is in a plazza in Tijuana but it is super clean - small though but they keep you there minimally and take you to the Recovery House. They took such good care of me it was beyond my expectations.

Dr. Ponce does not speak English but Dr. Battincourt (retired now at age of 30 something - doing well with this venture) will translate. Nurses there were awesome - wrap your legs up tight before surgery, IV went in like a charm.
