  1. I'm so very sorry you had this horrible experience--I did not see your original thread either. I am not sleeved yet and cannot afford to self pay in U.S. Planning on Dr. Aceves, who is not in Tijuana. It is unforgivable what they did to you, thank God you lived and I hope you continue to recover from this. Very scarey to anyone considering elective surgery. Take care of yourself.

  2. Hi Bon Bon: Appreciate your reply. Isn't it a shame that $$$ keeps us from what we want right now. I am excited for you and me both that we have made this decision. I hope things work out that you can have this in the Fall. Unfortunately, looks like I am stuck until Jan., but at least I have hope now . Good Luck in your journey and let me know when you will have surgery. Take Care!

  3. Hi: Still pretty new here but all the info. here helped me make my decision for sleeve instead of band or bypass. Insurance won't pay for sleeve but after reading all the wonderful posts on Dr. Aceves and his credentials, I decided he is the one for me. I was approved yesterday. Only downer, we have to finance so I will have to wait until Jan. when my flex spending account is available again to at least not have to borrow that portion of the $$$. Maybe we'll win the lotto and I can get it earlier!!! Monica at Dr. Aceves' office is so nice to deal with. I feel at peace w/this decision. I saw a nutritionist today to try to help lower my cholesterol (I can't take the statin drugs and don't want to), and hopefully lose a little weight before Jan. Thanks guys for all you good advice! I feel like there is hope for me after all!

  4. Hi there! I grew up in Greensboro, NC and my daughter lives in Raleigh, works in Cary! I would like to have surgery in the late Fall (my daughter is having C-section on 8/3/10 so I need to be around for awhile after that, but my husband wants me to wait until Jan. 2011 when our new flexible spending account kicks in from his work so that we don't have to borrow as much. I really don't want to wait--will have to see how things work out. Good luck on your financing.< /p>

  5. Hi, only my second time on here. I think I will end up w/Dr. Aceves for vertical sleeve surgery if I can work things out financially. My question is have you found it easy to find a doctor in your home town who is willing to follow-up if you have any problems. Flying back to Dr. Aceves would not be financially possible for me, nor taking the extra time off of work to travel. Would appreciate any input. Thanks, love this forum!

  6. I have been for my 1st consult to surgeon, but my insurance doesn't cover vertical sleeve, it has approved me for gastric bypass. I'm looking to finance for vertical sleeve w/Dr. Aceves, I just am not comfortable w/bypass. My regular Dr. is pushing me towards lap band. I want the sleeve! From researching the forums, Dr. Aceves sounds like the best DR. I have seen. Has anyone ever heard or had a bad experience with him. I would be traveling from VA. I would love to be able to stay in U.S. but it doesn't seem financially possible. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks!
