  1. Everyone's body reacts differently to that TOM after surgery. After my gallbladder and appendectomy surgeries, I didn't get my TOM till a month after the surgery itself so I skipped a month. I'm due for mine on the sixth but having had my surgery on June 24th, mine might be delayed a week or two, possibly a month due to the fact that your body has suffered a tramua.

I started my period the day after surgery, but wasn't due for another two weeks...is that normal? I'm on bc but didnt take it the morning of surgery due to npo after midnight. I didn't take it the next day because I was so doped up to remember but started that evening. I have skipped a few days before and have never started my period because of it. Just curious.

  2. I'm six days out myself and I still can't sleep on my tummy. I also have trouble sleeping on my right side because it pulls my big stich a bit too much and it hurts. I've beeen sleeping in a recliner for the past six days but I have pillows and a heating pad underneath to ease pain that I might feel from that center stitch. I'm a tummy sleeper too and it's annoying that I'm on my back.

  3. I was at a 8-9 pain level immediately after surgery. They gave me some pain meds but the worst part was the nausea which they gave me something for that too. Phrenigan which 5 minutes later, forced me to throw up but after that I was fine still in a bit of pain but the pain is gradually going down. I am not relying that much on my pain meds and this is day 5 post op. I had only one dose of pain meds today and my pain level has gone from 2-3 but it's going down.

  4. Here's what I've been playing for my Motivational New Life Playlist to make it's debut on Friday after surgery:

    Beautiful Day- U2

    Elevation- U2

    Eye of the Tiger- Survivor

    Never Surrender- Corey Hart

Well that's the start of it so far...so I'm going through and making changes as I go along.

Alygirl got me thinking - she is putting together a playlist for her new life so maybe I should to ! Anyone care to share what gets them moving (and probably more important - keeps them moving !)

  5. Im on the Optifast as well. Its really not that bad, all im drinking is the vanilla shakes. I just really want something to eat bad! Today at work these 2 women i work with were eating a taco salad from Fuddruckers, i just about died. I had to leave the break room, i was so hungry.

Ouch, my Doctor just gave me the chocolate ones today and I'm hooked on those. I hope I can tolerate them after surgery when I get to stage 2.

  6. I had my preop appointments today and everything is good to go. I was so anxious and nervous about this process and now I feel like nothing is going to stop me and I'm ready to start a new chapter in my life. I was anxious due to the amount of the surgery but when I saw my out of pocket expenses through insurance, I actually smiled. So here I go, no turning back. June 24th here I come!!!

By the way, my B-day is July 4th, what a way to Celebrate a birthday. :)

  7. I'm being banded on the 24th and I'm scared to go under once again. I didn't have this fear when I had my laproscoptic gallbladder removal and appendectomy but I'm so looking forward to having energy when I teach in the fall. I just want to get healthy and right now my surgeon has me on Optifast 5 times a day till surgery day. It's been tough but so far I haven't cheated at all and I"m looking forward to the results when this is all over.

  8. I think the hardest thing for me is to say goodbye to the Diet Coke. I love the Diet Coke but I drink way too much and the band should help me get over it real quick. I'm not even full pre-op yet and my body thinks it's the death march so I'm getting phantom cravings of all my favorite foods and I have only been to a seminar so far.

  9. Hello all,

My name is Jane and I'm hoping to be banded by Christmas. I'm currently waiting on a new insurance plan to come in but I attended my first seminar and have scheduled an appointment with the Doctor. I already have had a psych evaluation but will get another one as the time draws closer. I'm excited to get this process done and I know I've made a good choice in going lapband vs traditional Gastric Bypass!!!
