  1. Prila~

Congratulations on your surgery. The first day after surgery I could get in only 4 ounces of Fluid the whole day. I'm on a liquid diet for two weeks. 64 ounces of fluids and 70 gram of Protein.

Whats your diet like? Did you let your doctor know that your having trouble eating? I can't wait for the soft foods portion of this process, yet at the same time I'm afraid. Are you still experiencing pain? I do every 8 hours, if I don't take my pain medication, I feel like I can't get through it. Hopefully this will pass as well.

Take care of yourself and keep in touch.

  2. I was official sleeved on August 31st. at 4:30 in the afternoon. The doctor ended up doing a biopsy of my liver. I ended up staying in the hospital for two days. Due to me having trouble swallowing the 64 ounces of liquid and70 ounces of Protein. Well I finally got it down, but I'mm sick of the Protein drinks they are to sweet for me. Any suggestions. I need to do this for two weeks.

I already lost 18 pounds total 9 pounds before surgery and 9 pounds after. Can someone show me how to put a tracker on.

    Thanks,

    C

  3. Hi Anissa,

This morning I found out that my surgery will be done on August 31st. I'm so excited, yet like you nervous as well. I'd really like it if we could keep in touch throughout our journey.

Are you starting any pre-op diets? My nurse informed me that I needed to do a liquid diet the day before surgery. This puzzled me, because most of the postings made mention to a week to two weeks of liquid diets so I'm a little worried. She mentioned that I could opt to do it but it wasnt necessary. She said I was a light weight at 217lbs.

I'm really worried about the post-op and getting in the right amount of Vitamins and Protein. How about you any concerns? I keep thinking of my life without all this excess weight... I want it so bad.

Well God Bless and best wishes to you..~ Chana

  4. Now i'm really nervous... My doctors office just called my surgery is scheduled for Tuesday August 31st....

I need some advice. The nurse shared that I didn't need to be on a liquid diet until the day before surgery. My weight is at 217 she said that I'm a light weight so if I wanted to do a week before I could but It was totally up to me. Anyone has any advice should I start a week earlier or wait till the day before? Any advice on what to eat on my liquid diet?

    :)

    Thanks for the help

  5. Thanks Jane for the reply. No I'm not able to take any HRT and the past 6 years were hell. Menopause made me depressed as well and I do want to feel healthier. I've decided to have the surgery. Now its to schedule it... I'll be counting on this site and friends to get me through it all. Thank you so much for your postings not just to my question but others as well. It really does help.

  6. I need some help. I was approved by my insurance to have the sleeve done. I?ve completed all the pre-op tests. I just need to make my payment for the non-covered fees (which I have the money for) and I can have my surgery scheduled. I?ve been waiting for this day since January. However, for some reason I?m having second thoughts and I?m scared to commit to the surgery now.

In 2004 I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer, I?m doing well and the only problem is the Radiation caused me to go into menopause at the age of 38. Since then I?ve gained 80lbs and my oncologist has been on me to loose the wait. He say?s that obesity is not good; I could come down with cancer again. Needless to say I?ve been trying to loose the wait for the past 6 years and I just can?t do it. My last option is the sleeve.

Is the fear that I have normal, have any of you felt this way? How did you get past it? I?m worried that later on in life my decision to have the surgery will come back to haunt me. Either, by a health issue that will be made worse by the surgery or some other issue. Yet at the same time I know that not having the surgery can be just as harmful to my current health.

My husband initially wasn?t for the surgery; he's since come around some what. My son feels I shouldn't do the surgery and he loves me the way I am, he feels the choice to do this surgery is a drastic choice.

Any advice you can share with me would be greatly appreciated. I hope I'm not the only one out there that felt this way before making the commitment.

  7. Globetrotter:

I too will begin the process of doing the sleeve. I just got approved by my insurance company. Now I need to send Lapsf my non-covered fee of $4500.00. I'm not sure what the next steps will be. I live in Hawaii and will be traveling to San Franciso for the surgery. I know that I need to complete a Upper GI test, Ekg, Lab work, and a psy test.

It would be great to know what the paper work consists of and how the accomodations are for overnighters. I know Dr. Cirangle shared that they will put my husband and I up for a week in a hotel. Which one, Where its located, etc. I don't know. If you happen to have any information to share that would be helpful... Thanks for sharing.
