  1. I like to have the special k 90 calorie bars....they always have a favor I like. I also treat myself by saying if i can avoid the ice cream or brownie that I want so badly I will get a smoothie from tropical smoothie for less than half the calories plus I add supplements to it. For Holidays I eat what ever is cooked...just not a lot and not many sweeties that are bread made...they get stuck
  2. Thanks...I am now starting to realize that the band is truly doing it's job..I was thinking it all came back up due to the fact that it was too tight but I think it's just that I have always been able to eat and drink at the same time and even not have to chew 100 times...now this is forcing me to slow down, chew and not drink during my meals...I feel full long and I am really like that I feel this way even if I am a lil on the sick side..
  3. i AM ALSO HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM..I HAD A FILL ON WEDNESDAY IT'S NOW SUNDAY AND I CAN BARELY KEEP ANYTHING DOWN...MY THROAT IS SORE FROM THROWING UP. I THINK IT MIGHT BE JUST SWELLING BECAUSE BEFORE I GOT MY FILL I HAD ALMOST LIL RESTRICTION...HOPING THAT I DON'T NEED TO GET A UNFILL...IT'S GOING TO MAKE ME MAD CAUSE I WAS FOR SURE MY SWEET SPOT WOULD BE 6.5 NOT 5.5...MAYBE I AM WRONG...ON THE BAD SIDE STILL NOT LOSING WEIGHT.
  4. you can for sure do it....I think my face fat was the first to go....and a lot of my stomach....I can now see my mother regions which I could not before. We can def...do it...I see that we have both lost the same amount...can't wait to get into the 200 zone...haven't been under 300 lbs since I was 14 so that's going to be nice. I am praying to be able to get into a 20 by the 1st of june....
  5. I am here too...I had surgery nov 9th, 2010. I was doing really good when I first got my lap-band because I was so motivate and ready to let the weight drop. After the new year however...I just started back with all most of my old habits...so just recently i decided to started this no sugar at all diet with my aunt and see how it works...I am very happy with what I have done so far...I started at 403 in June...at the beginning of pre op diet for surgery I was 394 and at surgery date I was 377 and today I weigh 343 so I have lost 60 lbs which is wonderful but I can't wait to get to 195...plus my doc took me completely off my high blood pressure meds... some ways I have helped myself is I have decided * No snacking *journal everyday * Exercise atleast 30 mins a day even if it's just walking * and treat myself to something new... I got to go shopping and my friend had to tell me that's too big for you girl....and this was at a store where before I had surgery I had not brought anything from in years...and it's a plus size store...so it shows me just how far I have gotten and just how far I still have to go...I am praying that I get to my 100lb weight lost goal by the beginning of june...
  6. I have decided to keep a blog which I know is a going to be hard because I keep myself so busy daily. I am a single mother, worker and a student. I am trying to make this weight loss process for me better and easier. I am twenty-five years old and I had my lap-band surgery on Nov 9th, 2010. Since my surgery I have lost over 45 LBS, which is wonderful but only the starting of my process. I started my weight at 403 lbs in may of 2010, I currently weigh 354 LBS, which is super wonderful and brings me down to a 49LBS. I pray that I continue to lose the weight and be successful, I am hoping to get under 200lbs during my journey. A little more about me is that I have always been a big young woman, never small so when I decided to get the surgery I picked the band because I did not want to be small. I am not cultured to be small only big, so I wanted to know that I was strictly getting this surgery for health reasons. I just want to be healthy, no joint disease and no high blood pressure. I am glad I have made the decision because my blood pressure is never high and I don't have to take my pills for it anymore. Yes however my joints are still bad and my body still hurts but that does not mean that I will give up. I am going to lose this excess weight and be the woman I want to be. I have gotten a membership to workout and plan to workout at the gym at least 4 days a week or more, but no less then 4. I want to look nice if I am going to lose weight so i will also be trying to tighten up my skin. i want to look good and my dresses in the summer. So this blog will keep me motivated to do so, if i gain supporters along with it. I have and will also post this on facebook. I want my people to help me and support the journey of Ms. Shonda as she changes daily and a weekly with a great weight lost and being able to face the struggles that made me over weight. So please read and comment as often as possible so i can continue to write.
  7. The pressure is normal....i had it...it's from them putting air in ur chest cavity. buy pillows that form your body so u can get comfortable. 1 week diet plenty of Water and Protein shakes.
  8. I want to say that this is not true, every doctor does the band differently. I had surgery on the 9th of nov. and I am doing mushies and some solids, but I do get full and pretty fast might i say. I have 10cc band and I have 3 cc Fluid in there right now on DEC 9th I will get another 1 cc. I get full fast and sometime depending on what I eat I am full for 4-6 hours. I also am losing weight at a nice speed and it works just find. People we just need to have faith in the choice that we have made to change our life. It will work just let it.
  9. I am actually just rewarding myself for having surgery and the idea of losing weight. I was banded on Nov 9th, so I hope that by my B-day i can fit my first goal dress which I brought 2 years ago when I lost a lot of weight but still needed to lose about 20 more pounds for it to look good on me. I am currently a size 32 and my first goal dress is a 26. Then in February me and the girls are taking a vacation, we still have yet to figure out where but Vegas sounds sweet. Then again in July I will go on Vacation to a family reunion and get to show off the new me, my family has never seen a smaller me so that will be a reward in itself. After that I will be starting grad school so little rewards will have to wait until after I finish. So hopefully by May of 2012 I will be down to my goal weight which is 200 lbs and If I am a sista is going forreal clothes shopping...Total new closet and makeover....No tummy tuck....afraid....or breast lifts...or anything that hurts....This lapband was the only hurt I wanted to experience. Starting weight: 403 Current weight: Unknown Surgery weight: 377 Goal weight: 200 December 23rd goal weight: 340
  10. I understand you to the fullest. I am feeling the same way...so when my mom made chili, I ate some of the juice off of it. It was good but now my stomach feels weird. I am on a liquid diet with 5 prtein shakes a day and 64 ozs of water...Only been able to get down 1 whole shake and 2 bottles of water so far but hopefully that will change...we can do it. We went this far might as well keep on going.

  14. I know that a friend of mines had it done and on the day she went she said they take blood work. On the same day she went a man went to and he got turned away...so i am just hoping that my few small cheats don't cause me to not get my surgery....
  15. That's what's up...did you have to do a pre-op diet before your surgery and how long were you in surgery?
  16. Has anyone been turned away for cheating just a little on their pre-op diet. I have cheated like 5 days out of the 14 that I am on my diet but nothing to intense just like a chicken nugget here or there and a can a soup but nothing intense I am on day 11 of my pre op diet and has lost 15 lbs so far. I only have 4 more days left but I am afraid that because I had just small slip ups my surgeon might turn me away.
  17. I am having it nov 9th too...I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am and will be banded about 7:30 am YAY for US
  18. Don't be afraid Hun...I will also be banded on Nov. 9th at Hurleys In flint Mi. It will be the best change I have ever made. So far I have lost 11 lbs on my liquid diet and since Sept. 30th I am down 13 Lbs, so I can't wait to see how much more I can use my new tool to lose so much more weight and be a healthier me.You too will be a healthier and live a fuller life after your surgery. Goodluck and don't be afraid to save me as a friend.:hi:
  19. Congrats to everyone who has had their surgery yesterday and for the ones who will be having theirs today. So proud of you all We are Strong and can do anything we put our minds to. I will be banded on Nov. 9th at 7:30 am. I have been on my pre-op diet for a week and has lost a total of 10 lbs. Which I must say feels very nice, and makes me super happy. Started My journey at 403 LBs Current Weight 383.00
  20. Thanks everyone for all the support. This is something that we have dreamed of doing and we all have our own personal reasoning's to why we are getting the surgery. I am so happy to know that Nov 1st is tomorrow and I will be having surgery in 9 more days. This is something that I am so ready for. I have to just keep focus on what is most important to me. I am a Social worker at a domestic violence sexual assault shelter and I always tell my clients if you write down the goals to beginning your new life you can achieve them. Being able to see what you want, you have a greater mind set to accomplish them and I feel like that's what I have done in order to get the lap band. I am sometimes afraid because I have so much temptation on getting food. I love food and sometimes even now find it hard to say no when people want to feed me. I however know it's all worth it at the end of the day and I am so blessed to have this chance.
  21. Someone plz help a sista is seriously bad at this liquid diet. i have for real cheated today and ate a small bowl of spaghetti. Other than every once an a while wanting food and actually just tasting it I am doing good and has lost 8 lbs. However i feel like I am failing myself when I do eat something that I am not suppose to. I feel like I am making myself not available to have surgery or be prepared to make my healthier change in life.
  22. Well from the sound of it we weigh about the same or have about the same to lose. I have started exercising 3 days a week and as I lose weight I will increase my activity level so i can tightening my skin back up. It may never be in like a six pack but I don't want a tummy tuck so I am just going to work out as much as possible probably hire a personal trainer with my extra money from not eating out.
  23. Ok so I am on day five of this liquid diet and I swear i want to shoot myself. I have been hungry or at least wanting and craving for some favor in my mouth. I can not have anything beside the 5 protein shakes, up to two cups of raw veggies and 100 calories worth of approved calorie liquids. I have lost 6 lbs already but man this is hard all I want is some damn soup. lol. Well I sorta cheated on day three and four. I ate a half of pop-tart and a can of low fat cream of mushroom soup and then on day four i ate like five french fries and 1 chicken nugget. I felt so bad afterward but I was craving bad. I think I am however figuring this out, I suck on a lots of Popsicle....and hard mints. Anyone else having issues with their liquid diet.
  24. I am in flint, getting it done at Hurley's with dr. farhan. From my understanding and research he is like one of the best in lap bands. it's coll to see someone close to where I stay. I actually am scheduled for surgery on nov 9th at 7:30 am you?
