  1. Hey Everyone I wanted to keep everyone up to date with my information regarding my journey. I have just gotten the approval from my insurance company to go ahead for consultation...after Consultation there will be a couple of more papers to be sent out to my insurance company then comes my set up date for surgery. I can't wait until everything final comes through. Seminar date: 6/9/2010 Psych visit: 7/14/2010 Consultation Appt: 9/14/2010 Start Weight:403 lbs Goal weight: 185 lbs current weight: 390 lbs
  2. It's good to vent....I need to vent and so should others. I am not afraid to tell people, but i do say one thing I hate the negative response I do get. I really hate when people say this is taking the easy way out, for me this is not an easy decision. So easy way out is a lie, it's a helping tool to me as I see it.
  3. :mad:I don't really want to seem like I am venting but I am about to. I hate it when people ask me "why are you choosing the lap band and not the normal procedure?" Why does it matter, shouldn't you just be happy i am trying to make a postive change in my life regarding my weight. Why do I or should I have to explain why me wanting the lap band which is an easier surgery plus I won't lose weight so fast that i can't keep up with working out and getting my body into shape. I hate that people have the nerve to say all the bad things about the lap band when I am in the process of changing my life for the better. Yea It will probably take longer to lose 200 lbs...so what at least I get to learn a daily routine and let my life slowly change for the positive. I don't care if I only lose 80 pounds the first year...that would be 80 pounds that's gone forever. I hate that people who should be supportive of my decision is not....Does anyone else feel like I feel about people being happy for your decision. It's a decision that can make your life better.
  4. So tomorrow is the day for my psych visit. I am so excited, I can't wait until it I am in the next step of my journey but one step at a time. I am praying and letting god handle this decision in my life. Well wish me luck and I will def update what is going on in my journey. Thanks for all the support!!!
  5. Update...I have my psych visit in four days...yay me
  6. Thanks Everyone...I am struggling to work on my weight as much as possible. I have always had a weight problem and for me I just want to be healthy. I would love to go shopping and a plus size store and fit the clothes....Tired of shopping at plus plus size stores....anyone else feel that way? so at 199 or 200 lbs i will still be a big gurl...but just a healthy one. I love being big just not unhealthy and nasty looking.:smile2:
  7. Thanks... I too Have Medicaid and it is covered. I am sure it will be a process but I am so down for it. This will change my outlook on a lot of things and maybe even get me a better job. I hope to have it done before I attend Grad school next year. I have health plus partners in Michigan, I did have care source but they don't pay for the psych visit that is require and i could not really afford it. I pray and know that it will be approved and my life will be better. Everything will be ok pray about it and call your family doctor.
  8. Hello, My name is LaShonda and I am a 24 year old single mother who weighs 388 lbs. I have been researching the lap band for about 9 months now...and recently have gone through some steps in getting it over the last month. I started my journey with the idea that this might be an easy road for me, but I have come to realize that it is not. However I have prayed about it and have come to the conclusion that this is what I want to do. I started in at 403 lbs the heaviest I have ever been, since then I have tried numerous diet pills and diets. But with my High blood pressure there is not a lot of things I can take. Good news is I have lost 15 lbs and plan to lose more, also I have attend a seminar and my psych evaluation is in July. After I see Dr. Williams I can then have my insurance approved and make a consult visit with Hurley bariatic clinic. Seminar date: 6/9/2010 Psych visit: 7/14/2010 Start Weight:403 lbs Goal weight: 185 lbs current weight: 388 lbs
