I need favor please (time sensitive)
Beadingnurse replied to former_vbg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Repost this with a header relating to needing someone from Plano area and you might find someone more quickly! I am too far away in Austin or I would do it. Good luck! -
Anyone out there over 60?
Beadingnurse replied to LCS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Almost at 1 month... only lost 20 lbs!
Beadingnurse replied to Sarah S's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
20 lbs is great! I will be thrilled if I am down 20 lbs a month from tomorrow (surgery date!) congratulations on your success. -
Tracey, I am not a vegetarian but I have seen several posts from folks who are so I know they are out there! My response should put your message back into the "new content" list and hopefully you will get some responses. I am sure VSG can be done with a vegetarian diet!

Keeping in touch with April Sleevers
Beadingnurse replied to Beadingnurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Looou...I just sent you a FB friend request and I totally understand about keeping your surgery private. I am the same way. Only people on FB who know that I am having the surgery tomorrow are my daughters and hubby. Thanks and good luck on Friday! -
Thanks Looou for sending me happy thoughts on my surgery...I will definitely do the same for! It is an exciting week for both of us!

Hi Starry, I just saw that you left a comment for me quite a long time ago and I am just now figuring how to navigate to that page! Sorry...I didn't ignore you I finally just saw it. My doc is Mark Sherrod from SW Bariatrics and my surgery will be the Austin Surgical Hospital off of Bee Caves Rd. Hope your surgery went well & will try to figure out all of the features on this site!

10 months ago today! 92.5 lbs gone
Beadingnurse replied to NtvTxn's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations on your amazing success and thanks for posting! I am having surgery tomorrow and this is JUST what I needed to read to help me to get over the nervous butterflies! -
I am having my VSG surgery next week and have told very few people, husband, daughter, couple of friends and my boss. I see now that a lot of folks here have Facebook pages to keep track of their journey, post pictures and I love that idea. My problem is that 99% of my Facebook friends don't know and won't likely be told that I have had WLS. So...my question is...do any of you have second or separate Facebook accounts that are dedicated just to your weight loss journey? I am thinking about setting up a new email address and a new Facebook page that only my weight loss support system would be invited to (mostly you guys!). I'd feel comfortable posting my before and (hopefully) some after pictures there. I am not terribly sophisticated about Facebook and have never heard of anyone having a second account. I didn't know until last week that you could have private groups on there and have correspondence that only that group could read. I am sure there is a lot I don't know. Anyone done something like this or is it a weird idea?? Thanks!

Congratulations!! You must be excited to have the surgery behind you! Good luck with your weight loss journey!

Seriously - how much do you love eggface?!?!?
Beadingnurse replied to Rev Me Up!'s topic in Food and Nutrition
I made the chocolate Protein mini muffins this afternoon & they are quite good. Hubby loved them even more than me. I'd like to make them ultra high calorie by adding a rich fudge frosting but I guess that would defeat the purpose! I put the recipe into myfitnesspal to calculate nutrition & per muffin: 35 calories; 2 gms carbs; 3 gms protein. The only change I made was to use non-fat milk because that was all I had. Love her blog! -
Just asking...what if she threw them in a VitaMix? I have one and when I puree fresh berries I don't seem to have anything resembling seeds. Doesn't mean they aren't there in a size sufficient to cause problems though! Glad you asked the question Sarah because I think I would have gone ahead and pureed them without thinking but now I will ask my doc when I can add them.

Food, family and funerals
Beadingnurse replied to lash44's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Sorry to hear about the family funerals and especially two in one weekend...what a hard weekend to get through. I feel your pain about the southern food. In my family you didn't eat meat (and a lot of vegetables) unless it was dipped in egg and flour and fried and served with a cream sauce. Not to mention the biscuits, mashed potatoes, butter and everything else that went with it. My husband thinks I am joking (but I am not!) but I didn't know you could grill meat until I was dating and a guy ordered his steak grilled. It was a marvel to me. (Yep....just a little hick girl here)! Fortunately my exposure to those relatives and eating situations is limited now and after next week I will also have the sleeve on my side to help. Thanks for sharing your experience...gave me flashbacks to my family! -
an appology for all..
Beadingnurse replied to MommyTawnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What is a big happy family without a few spats here and there? We all have our bad days and I was happy to see how many people jumped in to comfort you instead of the flaming that would have occurred on a lot of forums! :grouphug: -

Looking forward to hearing how the weight loss goes! I am right behind you with surgery on Tuesday! I suspect I will need all of the Ativan they will give me to stay calm!:bolt: -
58 years too old for VSG?
Beadingnurse replied to graymadebbie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just turned 57 last month and I am having the surgery next Tuesday! You are definitely not too old! Do your research on the surgery...this website is a great place to learn from the folks who have already made the jump. I considered it for over a year before I made the commitment and now I don't know what took me so long! -
Do you spend less money on food now?
Beadingnurse replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sure we will save money on food if you include eating out as hubby & I have a serious eating out addiction. As a couple we eat out 5-6 meals a week and at work I often go out with co-workers for lunch. Hubby & I will still eat out more than we should but like "can't weight", I will be a cheap date! That alone will save big bucks. Plus....I have been spending a lot of time on Eggface's blog & tried a couple of her recipes this week and hope to start making foods to take to work. Since the kiddos left the nest I haven't cooked much but maybe this will change. -
Anyone had surgery with a BMI of 33 or lower?
Beadingnurse replied to razn4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The lack of carbs in my system has fogged my thinking!! I am having surgery on Tuesday, April 12 NOT Tuesday, April 11 as I posted above! All I really know is that it this coming Tuesday!!! Yipeeee! -
Anyone had surgery with a BMI of 33 or lower?
Beadingnurse replied to razn4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My BMI is just under 33 and I am having surgery on Tuesday, April 11. I have diabetes and have also tried hard to lose weight on my own (and keep it off). My insurance won't pay until I become a lot sicker but I am chosing to not wait and like you I will pay for it myself. My PCP has recommended the surgery for over a year now and was delighted when I finally wrapped my head around doing it and agreed to proceed. He said it will save my life and add years to my life....that is a pretty strong statement! If your doctor agrees and you feel ready...go for it! -
Kelly, They absolutely, positively are not supposed to talk to anyone without your written approval! But.... mistakes DO happen so if you are worried I'd give the doctor's office a call and tell them that you DO NOT want your work called under any condition. Tell them you will be the go-between if they have any questions that need to be answered. You will feel better if you make that clear to them. Speak to someone in the business office at your doctor's office (or your patient coordinator if you have one yet) and ask them to put a note in your chart to that effect. Good luck!

Monday is the BIG Day....
Beadingnurse replied to kelli's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck Kelli! I am having my surgery on Tuesday at 10:00 AM so I will join you on that loser's bench! I don't expect to post for a few days after the surgery but let us know how you are once you feel up to it!! Take care and yea for us!!! -
Okay Rootman...ya got me scared! I can tear up over the sappy McDonald's commericals now ....it's going to get WORSE after the surgery??? OMG....
-
Smile and tell your mom you will TAKE the $100.00 bet. Living in your new slender body in clothes you bought with her hundred bucks will be the best possible response! As for the others, I'd look them straight in the eye, smile, say nothing and walk away. Some folks are just plain toxic and you don't need exposure to that.

I love it! We should probably have a new thread here called "mistaken identity" as several folks lately have posted stories along the same line where a family member doesn't recognize you because you have lost so much weight! Congratulations....a great NSV!
