  1. I wish I was that lucky. I went for pre op testing and my place too wanted money up front part of it at least. I have a $3500 max out of pocket. I was hoping it wouldn't be the whole thing. Minus the $350 I've spent at my physical therapist so far it was the rest of it [emoji20]. Well I had already planned using part of my tax refund for it. But this sucks. I'm still going to have to pay it off because I still have to pay for some of the pre op stuff I had done prior to January [emoji20]

  3. Good. I did not think there was, but someone once mentioned metal clips in the port. Not sure if some of them have this or not. Thanks guys!
  4. My surgeon had never told me like I could not have an MRI or anything. I just want to check though, there should not be any metal in the port of anything right? I've been having knee pain for the past 4 months and finally went to the doc and am having an MRI on Tuesday. I just want to double check that there's no metal in me to interfere with the MRI. I've been close to the MRI machine at work and have never felt a pull on my abdomen. I have had my glasses being pulled away from my face due to the MRI. But I've never been under it to be sure nothing will pull in my abdomen. So let me know if anyone else has had an MRI. Thanks. BTW, I won't call my doc since I have not been back there in over a year and will feel very awkward. Thanks!
  5. I started back on the elliptical at just over 2 weeks post op. I had a quick recovery though. As long as you feel ok, I say go for it.
  6. I would say walking would be fine immediately. I started back on the elliptical a little over 2 weeks post op. Got the ok from my doc when I went for my post op at 9 days, but didn't go right away. I was told not lifting til like 4-5 weeks post op. I wasn't a gym rat before surgery, but I am not (or maybe not so much gym as a kickboxing addict..LOL)
  7. I "liked" the gym motivational quotes and cut and jacked on Facebook. They have some awesome motivational workout quotes.
  8. Great Job!! It's great when you realize you've changed. I've found that it is better to work out your emotions by working out. I had the worst day 1.5 months ago when I had to say goodbye to my dog of nearly 15 years. She meant the world to me. But instead of going and eating junk, I went to my kickboxing class and did 2 classes. It made me temporarily forget my pain. Also my trainer who was teaching the first class knew she needed to give me a great class to forget my pain..LOL This is what I do now. And I love it!
  9. I'm an LVT so my job is physical. If I had taken 4 weeks I would have gone crazy. I went back on day 7, but felt ready on day 5
  10. Well the OP did not say "I told the trainer I was in pain and he just yelled at me to push harder" or something to that effect. She said the trainer just said faster and don't stop, so how would the trainer have known there was a problem? And that was just during a fitness assessment not during any personal training. Me personally, I was fat for so long and, did not do a lot of stuff. I spent my teenage years being an outcast (not because I was morbidly obese at the time, but because I, well I'm not sure why), and then in my 20's I wasted my life being fat. Had surgery at 28. So I've made it my goal to let NOTHING stop me, a bit pain is welcomed.
  11. Why would you find a different trainer. One same said the trainer was nice afterwards. Two the trainer was doing what she was supposed to be doing, which is pushing you. I know when I train with someone I am much more encouraged not to give up. I NEED someone to push me to my full potential. I can be to easy on myself sometimes.
  12. Any kid of activity. I did the Warrior Dash a few weeks ago. Had a blast doing it and though it was a little bit of a workout. (Running, crawling, climbing, etc.) It did not feel like one, it was just fun. I'm going to do the Survival Race next (very similar to Warrior Dash). One of the woman who I went with posted about the Adirondack Adventure, which looks like fun. It even entails zip lining. I'm trying to venture out and try new things lately. It's exercise while having fun and being around friends.
  13. My honest opinion is just to keep doing them. All exercises bother you at first, but eventually you get used to them.
  14. Really??? 10 lb in 5 weeks and you want faster?! A fill is not gonna make you lose weight. The band may help you but in the end it is still your choices that make the weight come off.
  15. Personally I think that may be a good choice to go with the sleeve. I have a class 3 malocclusion. Which mean my teeth don't meet in the back which makes it difficult to chew things well. Unfortunately I did not think of this pre banding. I knew my teeth didn't meet, but I never knew what it was called til recently. I've realized that I never should have gotten the band, I only have 0.75 ml in my band, but still if I'm eating chicken I tend to feel it go down and it sort of gets stuck. So this is one reason I am not looking for restriction and I'm just trying to lose weight without the band
  16. @ Brenty. I have started taking glucosamine/chondroiton. I think it helps. For weeks before starting it, my knee kept popping/cracking (it wasn't painful during that)when bending walking up stairs or during squats and like a few hours after my first dose the popping stopped. Coincidence, maybe but I'm still taking it. As for finding my groove, yeah, I do give a little credit to the band, so that's why I'm not 100% against it, but I still would remove it in a heartbeat. As for pushing myself I LOVE feeling sore the next day. Yes, I may say, OMG I'm so sore, but in reality I love it. It means I've had an excellent workout and my muscles are working to rebuild themselves. I do a bootcamp class on Sundays and that usually makes me really sore, so I usually use Monday as my off day. Thoguh this week, I am not taking a day off. Because I can't kick box on Saturday because I'm going to do the Warrior Dash in Jersey, so I didn't want to lose a class. Yeah I may be certifiably insane. LOL
