  1. hi all, I lost this thread for a while, I was banded on the 27, still on fluids, so hungry, I keep making soup for my family so that I can steal the broth. today I get to have drinkable yogurt, Kefir never tasted so good. I get starving, and I drink a little and feel full. strange. I also keep forgetting to take my vitamins???? anyway, we are all banded, pretty wild, I love hearing you all's stories. Lisa
  2. Howdy Missjoany, how's it going? I was thinking about some easier way for us to communicate and encourage about our work out goals etc. One Idea I had was to just start a thread called september bandster work out encouragement- I don't have any other ideas but am open. My complaint with the pm's is that it is a pain to talk to you and missjoany at the same time and it's sort of clunky- of course the site is clunky - anyway open for ideas

also how are you doing, have any good treadmill tales?

  4. Good Afternoon, it's looking like winter is coming here- not really but cold and rainy. I am back to work, of course many yummy treats in the kitchen that I am ignoring. no one here knows, no one but my husband knows- oh yeah and all of you!!! feeling pretty good, but I could just lay down and take a nap. and today I was able to have some drinkable yogurt- oh was that yummy. Kefir here I come. I'm actually looking forward to a protien shake later this week. that Isopure is some kind of foul- it's like syrup. I made my family some killer soups this week so I could take the broth. 7 days post op! wow. Thanks all for being here.
  5. Oh also, I'm way behind in reading. S.O. Zen- wow I'm sorry about your incision issues, can't you try like a butterfly type thing to hold it together and some some Vitamin E. I can't imagine dealing with that right now. I hope it gets better. Can someone tell me how to subscribe to a thread, I just accidentally hit the unsubscribe button on my email from this thread. Duh. I have a lot more reading to do, but also I can't believe some of the stories so far, i tell you the pnemonia story and the other hospital story, those are the stories that the whole being a continent away from my surgeon freaks me out about. Keeping my fingers crossed and wondering why it is so difficult to get insurance to pay, especially when my insurance bill is high. thanks everyone for all the information
  6. Hey Brenda/ highlojack, you can have the band and be pregnant, with it all the open, you aren't talking about having it removed are you? that would be a shame. Oh and also, wow! congratulations, I was single and pregnant at 36 and was very excited. I'm excited for you.
  7. Oh yeah I"m home, the kids are starting to calm down, they were kind of emotional when I first got back. Yeah Dr Ortiz is very nice, he is actually a 3 surgeon team, they were all very nice and all quite handsome. They were also very fast, picked up at the hotel at 7 am surgery done by noon. That's with all of the pre tests the ekg etc. crazy really. Yeah broth and water and tea right now, monday I can add drinkable yogurt, can't wait. Although whenever I feel hungry I drink and it goes away magically. I"m also doing isopure which I don't care for because it is so sweet, but it has 15 g of protein and it's a clear liquid. My pain has been minimul really which is nice, although my 2 year old really wants me to be carrying her around. I've been cooking soups so I can get the broth. I was down 18 lbs on my surgery date since August, so I was pretty excited about that. I go back to work on Monday and I still feel kinda spacey, but maybe that's the lack of food since I'm only taking Tylenol now. Oh well, thanks for checking in on my. How are you doing? Lisa
  8. Hi all, thanks Brian for getting the switch. It's so interesting to hear all the different things that the doctors have us do. My Dr. is Clear Liquids for a week, then I can add some Protein shake and drinkable yogurt for a week, then I can add pureed Soups for a 3rd week - before I start eating solid food. I am 5 days post op, and still drinking takes forever, I do feel hunger and have since day 1 but drinking takes it away still. I have kids and have been cooking, which isn't challenging not to eat, I swear, it's the clearing their plates with all the left over little pieces of cheese or other foods that I would have scarfed down before. I always knew my portions were too big, but I realize now that this type of eating must have really added a lot to my calories- why on earth would I just finish my kids food. It''s bad enough my plate was always spotless empty but do I have to make theirs that way too. Anyway that's my rant. So far my healing has been easy except the 2 year old wants me to carry her all over the place and it's hard to say no. I go back to work on Monday. I really liked Cici's story on the last thread about not needing a fill, I wonder if other's have found that or how often that happens.
  9. how does that work, does someone have to start a thread or is it already there.
  10. ii am home! my kids are emotional wrecks, the 2 year old keeps trying to make me pick her up, I'm trying not to, we've all been in tears today. geez. and with all this emotion I just want some nice comfort food- Duh, keep reading my end to over eating book and trying to get with this whole mental thing, and better understanding my the programing so I can break it, but it's hard when my options are tea and gatorade and broth. Moondra, my band is that way, my Dr.s want 21 days of liquid before solid food period, they talk alot about if you eat now it will make losing you might get a way with it, but it will make losing the weight 6 months from now harder. I believe this is called banding hell. or actually once you are all healed and eating solids, in a couple weeks, you are a week out, you should be able to do some drinkable yogurt and maybe even protien shake. I know it's hard, but it's worth it. Cathy good luck with eating, Really 7 weeks liquid, and you are all filled, that is so different then my doc, very interesting. man you are hard core to do 7 weeks liquid, like a rock star. and 33 lbs lost that's great. I'm 18 down pre surgery, I might have already said that, i"m in a haze. my pain is so minimal, except when the 2 year old is hausing around on me. Lisa
  11. here i am doing laps around the denver aairport, feeling and looking like a homeless person, wishing i could ditch my luggage, but certain security would tackle me. just paid 4$ for ckicken noodle soup and drained the broth and left the rest behind. funny day.
  12. ok i'm here at the airport, and i had a thought to share with anyone thinking of coming alone. it is fine, they take great care of you. i'm glad i had a net book so i could easily get on the internet. but the big thing is pack lite. i have a back pack (like a school bag) and a small suit case. on the way here i felt i had packed very lite. but now i,m wishing i could ditch one of the bags. i'm not really all that sore just tired, and really i probably shouldn't be picking stuff up. i'm fantasizing that if i had just brought clothes i didn't care about and just left them behind, with my toiletries etc. lol. one bags thats what i wish i had- i probably should have paid the 20 to check my suitcase, duh.
  13. Hey there freshstart, I've been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing. You must be off the liquids now. Congrats to you too, don't be nervous about the fill. you've done the hard part.
  14. I didn't discuss which band, he says he uses different ones I think one kind for the extrememly overweight. I don't know. I just left it up to him, he is available to talk to and I even emailed him a question that he replied to. there is also a section in the OCC forum about what bands he uses, I thiink it's in the lap band section, usually one to the first choices. there is a patio for your husband, and a tv in the waiting room but it shows programs like oprah going to the clinic etc. it is quite fast really, there were only two of us, I went first, - we left the hotel at 7 am, and I was awake by noon. if you decide to go back to the Marriott, and the doctor agrees you that happens at 4 and thats when your husband can get a ride back. I'd say the meds you get are better there, I guess if you went back that night theyd give you extra. the hotel is also preped with broth and popsicles and juice if you say you are an occ patient. today has been boring, a lot of walking, and reading and tv, I'm ready to go home. I think many go shopping downtown and if someone was here with me I probably would but I'm just internetting and walking.
  15. ey lillyegg, how are you doing now, is you pain lessening. i was just checking in. and Cathy CS with all those fills, are you in your sweet spot yet- you've been banded the longest an had 2 fills, what's it like - are you on you 'normal' sirt now- one last thing, i swear i don't get money for pushing this book, but the instinct is great recipes for everone- quick meals on the run, home cook meals, vegetarian or meat. the recipes are all clear on how much fat, carb and protien- plus she has tons of 1200 cal/ day meal plans and lots of substituting where she clearly lays out like a 300 cal meal and a 400 val meal etc. pre op we made some of the 300 cal meals instead a lean cuisine, they were great. it's my new joy of cooking
  16. ok i'm day after, feel quite good, of course i'm on pain meds. they have been great here, it's funny these women i meet from canada got banded and are now getting some dental work. anyway feeling good and missing me family, glad to read all the stuff i have to llook forward to.
  17. thanks zen, i'm now in band land, but i don;t feell any thing, maybe it's all th pain meds, so far so good, and pre band i lost 18 lbs which is unbelievable.

  18. ok so i'm here, i made it, today, vey nice facility and docs, i feel good, right now, tv is filled with food commercials. i'm going to walk some. lisa
  19. ok so i forgot to say good luck everyone, i'm a bandster, and recovering pretty still a bit lightheaded. weight was down 18 from preop diet. i hope i'm not repeating, i'm sstoned on painmeds. think ill go walk some
  20. paigy, i had a head cold and am not used to the hotel style climate control- i was dry i though oh i must be able to drink some water- they didn't like that, but we went ahead. i,d say 12 hours before no nothing is the best sorrty pookey im glad you are home, i hope it gets better
  21. so the way the staying thing works, is they like you to stay here so they can keep a close eye on you. but if by 4 you request it, and the doc feels eveything, is good you can go to the maiott.the main reason to that innstead of staying here is if you guest is here, they will have to go back, here at the OCC the hone is free for calls to us and canada, and there is free wifi plus computers set up if you don't have laptop, and the tv here has moe english seaking programs, there are some in the maiott and you can rent a movie there. this tv has som sort of device that I wr if you could briondeng a movie with you my procedure went well, very fast, i feel a little tight but wlking helps. everyone is very professional. going alone is fine, and I think at times there are more people, Ive met another gal from cali well time to walk more later
  22. thanks tht migh relieve the gs

  23. alright now, I'm in the Marirott, have to be in the lobby at 7 am, finding the driver was easy, he is very nice, and crossing the border into Mexico was very easy, no id necessary. just a little look in the van. more tomorrow
  24. Hi there, you go girl, 6 minutes today 5 K tomorrow Yeah my knees are bad too, hoping losing weight and building muscle will help.
