  1. Hi all,

I went in for my second fill yesterday. My first one was fine, I didnt feel that much restriction at all. This one, I feel so much restriction. While I was in the office, he had me drink Water after the fill and it went down fine. Well, yesterday I could barely even get water down. By the end of the day I was able to get a tiny bit of Soup down and some water. Even when I am drinking something, it tries to come back up and there is a little bit of slime with the soup. I also feel incredibly full after a few bites of soup. We are now on day #3 after the fill and it hasnt gotten much better. I can get a little more water down without it coming back up. Im supposed to start mushies today but there is no way I will even try because even with water, I get a little reflux and feel so full. Is this normal due to swelling? What is everyones experience with their fills? does the band loosen a bit from the swelling a bit after the fill? Should I call my dr to get it unfilled a little more or should I wait it out. Im not in extreme pain right now, its just I feel a little weak from no food and not a lot of water. Oh, also once I take a few sips of soup I get so full to the point that I start to hiccup. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Danielle,

I was just banded 3 days ago! I have gotten that feeling as well but I think its the gas build up that we are feeling in our shoulders, backs, etc. From what I understand, the surgeon injected us with co2 gas and we now have build up that is trying to escape, so yes, we are definitely gassy and yes it hurts like hell!! Try not to panic too much, I think its pretty normal. Gas x has helped me a little bit, I havent tried tums. Did you dr prescribe you heartburn meds, like nexium or prevacid? Mine did, I started them today and the gas has gotten much better. From what I understand, these are also prescribed to prevent ulcers b/c our digestive juices are just eating away due to us having no food in our tummies! I dont know about you but I cant wait to eat regular food:thumbup: Hang in there!!!

  3. Hi all! So, I was banded 2 days ago-6/9/10. I am feeling ok, and thought I might share my experience for those who are about to be banded. So, the staff was great-I got my IV and my anestethia , all went well and before I knew it I was waking up in the recovery room. I was pretty sick to my stomach and apparently I did have some bleeding in surgery so they did keep me overnight. The 1st day is somewhat of a blur and I was in a lot of pain but I did get up on my own to use the bathroom a few times. The 2nd day, after a restful night, I was feeling a little bit better and a lot less sleepy. I left the hospital around 1pm and I am at my parents house recovering. The pain meds they gave me have been making me really nauseous so I am currently just taking liquid tylenol for the pain. I have been getting pretty intense gas pains in my shoulders and neck and have been finally on the 3rd day, able to relieve some of that( sorry to be gross, lol). I have been drinking Water and Protein Shakes but am only allowed 4 oz of liquid per hour and to tell the truth thats about all I can tolerate anyway. Other than that, I am feeling ok and I am just taking it one day at a time. I am really just looking forward to getting some real food in me!!:frown: I go back to see my surgeon one week from today and will get my bandages removed then. The only incision that is really hurting me is the big one, where my port is. All, in all, the worst is over ( at least I hope) and I just cant wait for the band to take effect and for me to lose some weight. I weighed myself today and it seems as if I gained some weight and was thinking it might be from the iv's from the hospital as well as the extreme bloating from the CO2 gas from surgery--anyone know anything about this? Anyway-if anyone has any questions please email me and good luck to everyone who is about to be banded! I wont lie, its really rough in the beginning but it does get so much easier day by day!!

  4. My surgery date is June 9th. I am so excited. I am not really nervous although I might start to get nervous as it gets closer to going to the hospital. I am having such a hard time with the pre op liquid diet-I am so hungry and cranky. But-this is all worth it b/c I will be getting my life back and to who I used to before my weight took over my life. I also keep talking about my surgery a lot-my boyfriend is starting to get annoyed. Good luck all June Bandsters! ( And all other months too, of course:) ). It would be neat if there was a group for June Bandsters, so we could all go through this at the same time--anyone know of any Yahoo Groups or is anyone interested in starting one up?

  5. Hi!!! I just joined this site today and what a great resource this is!! I am 31 years old and live in NYC. I am being banded on June 9th- a week from today!! I started the pre-op liquid diet on Monday and I am having such a hard time with it--Im so hungry lol. Anyway, I thought I would see if there was anyone out there who is being banded around the same time that would want to be email buddies. It would be great to have a friend who is going through the same thing and we could be a good support system for each other. Also--is anyone in the NYC area and being banded in the future or have been banded recently?

Hope to hear from you all soon:)
