  1. I am just a few days short of one month post op and I thank God every day that I finally made up my mind. I felt like that only way to lose the weight was to be up happy and diet every day of the rest of my life. Well I was half right. I do have to diet for the rest of my life but being unhappy while doing it is no longer a part of that deal! I have made the choice to no longer eat bread and a guess what I?m STILL HAPPY!! I am starting to get so much more energy and smiling more. When people I don?t want to know how the WLS ask about my weight loss I just say I?m not eating bread anymore. I?m sure it is helping take the weight off but being full from 3 oz of Soup doesn?t hurt either lol. When I first started looking into WLS I was 210 but I couldn?t pay to have the surgery in the states and I was scared to go to Mexico so I tried to lose on my own. Over the next year I did every diet and every weight loss pill out there. Phentermine was the only one that helped me but the moment I stopped taking it I started gaining again. I was always hungry and still over eating. I felt hopeless and weak! I looked at my family and felt defeat since everyone in my family is overweight and most are obese. After a year of hating myself thin (I'm sure some know what I mean) I got down about 30 lbs which I was starting to gain back slowly. So once again I found myself looking into WLS and I e-mailed BeLiteWeight. At that point my life started to change. I had some money saved up and my Mom was in a place where she could loan me the rest. On 7-12-10 my life became forever changed. I went to Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez Mexico and got what is called Laparoscopic total gastric vertical plication (TGVP) aka Super Sleeve. In one month I am only a few pounds shy of I lost in one year. I wasn't super obese when I had the TGVP but I was obese but a week and half post op I became just over weight. I am losing an average of .5 lbs a day and I am starting to have so much energy. I only need 11 more lbs to be a NORMAL BMI! ?NORMAL? Isn?t that exciting?? Me Normal! Before my TGVP every day was a fight to lose weight and even if I lost the weight the moment I would let me guard down the weight would come right back. Right before I made up my mind on have the TGVP I started thinking about the two times in my life that I did lose the weight and it hit me the only reasons I thought the weight was due to being sick or surgery. I never really lost the weight myself so I finally said yes to Mexico. Let me tell you IT WAS THE BEST THING I EVER DID FOR MYSELF!! The other day I got really upset with myself since I felt like I had been eating all day. What the heck was wrong with me I just paid to get a smaller stomach and here I am stuffing my face! I have an app. on my Iphone that lets me put in what I have eaten and it tells me how many calories I have taken it. I thought I was going to up with joy once I was done entering in the food. I had even eaten 400 calories and I thought I had over eaten! Only a hand full of people know about my WLS but now that I don?t eat bread (you can eat bread if you like but it seems like a waste since I can only eat 3 oz) I get that the credit for my weight loss to those that think I am being unhealthy. So since I am keeping this to myself I THANK ALL OF YOU for being there for me to talk to! I don?t know what I would do without this site. It is nice to be with people that understand me and what I am dealing with! YOU ARE AWESOME!

    One Month in Heaven!

I use the ap "lose it" since it is so easy to look things up. Also it let's you put in things you cook at home. Also it let's you track your weight and set goals. There are other aps but that is my fav free ap.
  3. I got worried after I ate them thinking it wasn't such a good idea but I didn't have any pain so I thought it was fine. I was at work at the hospital (went home early since I was on too much pain) they told me to take milk of magnesia and my pain meds. They said if it isn't better by morning I need to go to the dr. The pain is in my stomach and in my lower back. It has gotten better since today. My pain on a scale of 1 to 10 was a 9 or even 10 but now it is a 6 or 7
  4. Mine was 4-6 weeks. My dr told me to just take it slow until I know my body can handle it.
  5. At 3 am I ate carrots that were fresh not soft. Is that too much for my stomach?
  6. Mine was right away! You are pretty lucky..
  7. I had the TGVP aka Super Sleeve done on 7-12-10 and after a month I lost 27 lbs. I sent BeLiteWeight my update info and now they are wanting me to be their poster child for the super sleeve. They are even willing to pay me for rights to the pictures I send them. I am really wanting advice on if I should do it or not. As wonderful as it sounds to be one of the faces of the super sleeve, I'm just wanting to make sure others think it is okay to put my face out there like that. My sister is the poster child for her dr in Texas for her lap band (she lost over 100 lbs and has kept it off for four years now) but she she very open about her wls. Not a lot of people know I had wls. So I guess that is part of my worry. Would you do it if asked? Have you done it?
  8. It's it awesome?? As soon as I used them I could feel it working. They replaced my pain meds after a fees days since most the pain is gas anyways..
  9. Im glad.. I'll have to look into it :crying:
  10. Gas-x strips were my best friend! A heating pad helps while your not walking but walking really is the best thing for you. I know I didn't feel like it every time I did it made me feel better. Once you can start drinking something warm helps your stomach and when you first wake up your stomach is tight as something warm helps that tight feeling. Last but not least don't try to be a super hero Take Your Pain Meds before the pain gets too bad!!

    Changes in friends

WoW that really sux! I'm sorry. How does that make her any better than those that look down on over weight people?
  12. I had that too.. I was so scared but it was fine.. The being itchy is a VERY good thing since it means you are healing. What happened to me is I put water pruff bandaids on to swim and one of them took the glue off when I took it off since it was a little too small. It was healed fine but I still waited a day to mess with the others. It was fine but I like you was scared since I want my scars to be as small as possible.

    July 2010's NEW losers!

Oh okay I was wondering how I miss read that. On a side note I don't eat carbs (example: bread pasta) and that helps a lot since it fills you up so fast. It helps me get more Protein and vegs. Plus I was told the carb stuff is what causes your stomach to get bigger over time since it expands. I think that is what has helped me loss weight so fast.

    July 2010's NEW losers!

I still have issues getting protein and I'm a month out. The only way I get it is from protein shots I get from the health food store. That is crazy you just got your drain removed! I got mine removed on day two post op. Soup was my bestfriend when I was at two weeks. Also drinking something warm first thing in the morning really helps since your stomach is tight. That might help with the gaging. Also have you been watching how fast you are eating. Make sure to eat slower and hicups are my sign when I'm full.
  17. Oh and I found out my bougie is a 40.
  18. Thank you so much! I never would have lost this weight with out my wls. My sister had her's at 42 and it is when I started thinking about it. I am so glad I did. My highest was 210 but I lost some on my own before wls but it was starting to come back.

    July 2010's NEW losers!

Hey everyone!! Can you believe it has been a month already? How has your first month been?
  20. I know it seems hard right now to think you could stay with the post op diet but I promise it gets so much easier after. I got full from sipping 2 oz the first week and I had to force myself to drink that much. You'll be fine!

  21. Thank you so much! I am really happy with it so far :D

On adjusting here is a post I made about it:

    http://verticalsleevetalk.com/post-operation-vertical-sleeve-gastric-surgery-vsg-questions-answers/8084-when-im-bored-i-eat-oh-wait-i-cant.html

It is a lot easier than what I thought it would be. But honestly before I couldn't dream of not wanting to eat. Good LUCK.. If there is anything I could help you with please let me know.

  22. If you were given the choice to have wls in your 20's would you have done it?
  23. mellifrits

I really could use some advice

I think the main thing pulling me to do it is helping others. I had so many questions pre op and the more info out there the better. I guess I shouldn't care who knows but I am so use to hissing in the back ground so ppl can't talk about me.
  24. It was fine. They just asked me why I was going to Mexico, why Mexico and not the US, who was my doctor (think he just wanted to see if I was lying) how much cash on hand, how I would pay since I had such liitle amount of cash (cashiers check), and how long was out stay. It didn't take long at all. Maybe 15 min to get into Mexico. It looks kinda scary to be honest but it isn't. When we got there and the driver walked us in. He made sure to meet us up with someone else before leaving. When we left it took an hour and half to get back into the states. Once we got to the gate it was pretty fast but it was a long line. They pretty much just asked why we were there and I think our passport did the rest of the talking for us. I was pretty out of it on the way back so I'm I don't remember word for word what they asked. If you have any other questions feel free to ask!
