  1. My sister has the Sleeve and all the things she talked about being the down fall to WLS I do not deal with. She cant eat and drink at the same time, I can. She cant always tell when she is full and gets sick, I can tell. She has to do after care to fill her band, I dont. Over all those that get the lap-band still deal with weight issues and have problems with gaining back the weight. From what I have heard from others and what I see in myself is I dont even think I could gain back the weight if I wanted to. The sleeve is the best thing I ever did for myself.
  2. I sorry that you are dealing with this but honeslty Im glad Im not alone.. Thank you for the advise and I cant wait to hear what she has to say. I updated my tracker does it show it now?
  3. Is there a chat room on this new site? If so how do I find it?

  8. I am thinking about having a Super Sleeve done in at Star Medica Hospital, 15 mins across the border from El Paso, Texas in Juarez, Mexico by Dr. Jose Rodriguez. The cost is $6200 for everything. Has anyone gotten the super sleeve done or know of anyone that has. OR Has anyone worked with this company or Doctor or even hospital? Can I trust them with my money and more importantly my life? Here is the Info they gave me on the super sleeve: What is super sleeve? Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is not as simple as any other gastrectomy. Gastric tube size influences both the degree of weight loss and weight stability. A large sleeve predisposes to gastric dilatation (stretching) and weight regain. Inexperienced surgeons tend to create large tubes ( or to leave back large remnants of the gastric fundus. A standardized technique with a gastric capacity less than 100 ml (A) is mandatory in order to get the patient to achieve a durable weight loss. The sleeve should be super which means a small gastric sleeve diameter and a higher degree of restriction. With the gastric capacity being restricted to 60-80gr and Ghrelin (the appetite hormone) totally suppressed, the resultant weight loss is predictable and comparable to those achieved with gastric by-pass (60-70% EWL), without any serious complication or side effects (e.g. Vitamin mal-absorption). We believe the Super Sleeve to be a very effective and safe bariatric solution even for super-obese patients.

    July Surgeries

Has anyone found themselves having issues with depression? For the last two weeks I have been feeling down and angry. I was losing weight like crazy but I'm the same weight I was three weeks ago now. I don't eat breads or pasta and I pretty much stay clear of sweets. What is wrong with me!! I feel so mad at myself. I am trying to look at the whole picture since I lost so much so fast at first but honestly you would think the low carb diet would help me lose weight let alone having wls too!
  10. When you have the vsg or super sleeve you can eat and drink at the same time which in return makes food go down easier. If I sit down and have a meal then my limits come into play very well but just like with any wls if you snack and give the food time to go down then you can eat more. I don't eat carbs so it helps to get more of the foods I want to eat. If you have any issues with an over eating disorder it doesn't just go away when you can't eat as much in a sitting. Make sure you deal with your issues with food and don't just hope they will go away.

    Super Sleeve (Gastric Plication)

I am very happy with my choice to have the super sleeve but from what I understand if you have around 100 or more lbs to lose you should go with the vsg. I'm no dr so i would just talk to your dr about the pros and cons. My largest size is 20, my pro-op size was 14-16, and as of today I'm 8-10. I haven't lost much weight this month but I lost a few inches so that is good.
  12. My Sleeve Plication surgery is scheduled for July 12, 2010 at The Hospital Star Medica with Dr. Jose Rodriguez. Is anyone else going at the same time? Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone else ever been there or been to the same Dr?
  13. Hi everyone my name is MaryAnn and I am 23 years old. I am getting what is called a Super Sleeve July 12, 2010 in Tijuana Mexico by Dr. Rodriguez. There are not many on the site that has the Super Sleeve so I am hoping to keep everyone updated on how it goes. If anyone has had the Super Sleeve or knows anyone that has gotten it I would love to hear from you. Right now I am in my Pre-op diet so I think it has really hit me that my Super Sleeve is only a week away! Any advice you have on my packing, pre-op, or even post-op I would love to hear from you! Thank you!

    Super Sleeve or gastric plication

When I feel hungry between meals it almost always is really that I'm thirty. Once I drink something I'm fine. If drinking something doesn't do the trick I eat a snack and I'm good. I don't get too down on myself since my four or five small meals a day are still less than half of what I use to eat with my three big meals a day (and I still snacked then).

    Super Sleeve or gastric plication

Amy, Sorry it has taken me so long. I never got an email when you posted. And even worse my computer is down right now since my charger broke. As soon as I get the new charger I will write you. It is hard to give all the detail I would like to give you while writing on my iPhone. Fit, I don't eat carb based things like bread and Pasta. I have an ap on my iPhone that I keep record of food in take but I haven't been very good at always keeping up with it. Since I don't eat bread it makes it easier to eat more protien but I'm still having some issues getting all my needed protien in. One thing I did learn the hard way is do not eat fresh carrots. I guess some how I missed that memo and let me tell you I was in a ton of pain for over 24 hours!! I think it will be that way with any fresh vegs so make sure they are soft.
  18. everyone is different but the more you get up and walk the faster the gas goes away. It will take about 1-2 weeks but the second week is not as painful as the first.

    July Surgeries

So my first month I was losing almost a lb a day and I only lost 1.5 lbs this whole week! I'm a little down but I'm blaming my time of the month and hoping this coming week will be better!

    Nervous about Mexico Surgery!!

I went to Dr Rod and he was wonderful! They gave me a diet plan when I left and when I ran into some issues with eating some I shouldn't have Dr Rod was very helpful with his advice on how to handle the issue. If I had to do it over again I would still go to Mexico.
  21. My sister has the lap band and I have the sleeve. I have a lot more freedom than she does when it comes to food and drinks. I know this sounds like a small reason but what changed my mind from sleeve to band was the fact that I can eat and drink at the same time. If you have lap band you will never be able to eat and drink at the same time. Plus sleeves have an over all better out come than bands. Tiff is the best to talk to though about band vs sleeve

    Body Pillow question

I sleep on my side also. The first night I didn't even try it so I couldn't tell you there BUT the second night I was able to. If I layed down and tried to turn on my side I wasn't able but if I sat on the bed and laid on my side then lifted my legs (had a bit of help somethings) then I was able to lay on my side. What is weird though is I have never slept on my stomach but the last few weeks I have been waking up on my stomach so I guess my body has changed it's mind on how I should sleep lol

    I ate too fast! OUCH!

I have had to make the rule no eating in the car cuz that seems to be when MY eating to fast happens. I hope you are better soon.
  24. I work night shift at the hospital. I ate at 3 am, went to bed at 8 am, and then woke up in pain aroud 10 am. I don't know what is wrong! After getting up and down half a dozen times from 10 to 1 I finally took my pain meds that I have taken since post op week two and took a hot bath. I went to sleep at two and when I woke at 6 I again was in unbearable pain. I had a couple BM's but it feels like I still need to. Does anyone have advice? I am in do much pain right now (it is 830 pm and I don't get off work til 7 am).
  25. It has been almost 48 hours since I ate the carrots and some time today the pain went away. I am very lucky that I was able to work it though my body. I tried to get into a dr here in GA but no one could take me same day. I have no insurance so the ER was not a choice for me. My dr was very wonderful and as helpful as he could be but also told me to get checked out. I am going to see someone tomorrow just a day or two late. Please learn from me WE CAN NOT EAT FRESH VEGS!! I don't think Ill even try them again in 5 months. I honestly think this whole event has made me not like carrots at all, not even soft ones.
