    Is it just me?

thanks. It helps to know someone understands :-)

    Is it just me?

She is somewhat smaller than me but, (at the risk of sounding conceited) she is jealous of me most of the time. She copies stuff i do and when I get really into some new product or something, she follows suit. Its just how she is. She is always complementing me on my makeup (which she is now into as well) and how white my teeth are ( and she now had veneers put on). I cant really figure out why she would try to sabotage me, maybe because she thinks its something she cant copy?? I know that sounds really conceited but I just dont know. And she gave me a really hard time when I first talked to her about the surgery and kept telling me I shouldnt do it and just excercise and eat right like she did, and her mom did and suzy jo did, blah blah blah. I tried to be nice and say "kudos to you, that is seriously awesome, but I feel like this is whats best for me because I have not been able to have that success" Its weird because she has not even kept off the weight. She lost 60 lbs and admitted at a different time that she had gained back at least 15 of them so far. Im not trying to judge her, thats still a great accomplishment, but obviously she should know the struggle. I think shes just kinda bitter that my husband is paying for me to have it done and she cant ( i know their money is tight right now) I really wish I had never told her. She is more supportive now that she knows that her opinion isnt going to influence me but some part of her is bitter that I am doing it, and part of me is bitter for even thinking its a jealousy thing on her part bc i know it sounds so conceited and I hate thinking that way. I just cant think of any other reason.

    pay for surgery

My husband is financing mine through a loan from his bank, and we are middle class folk. They gave him a better rate than any surgery loan website type of deal. I am also getting it done in Mexico, so that obviously saves a lot of money. not sure if we would have been able to pay to have it done in the states or not, never looked into it much really.

    Scale Victory!

You rock!!! :tongue2: Cant wait to be saying the same!
  5. Was'nt really sure what head hunger was or how it worked but Im starting a pre-op diet and have been on it for only 2.5 days but i understand now what everyone is talking about lol. I eat my small little healthy meal and even though I'm not hungry, I keep thinking to myself that I should just run over to McD's and grab a cheeseburger to "top it off". Ugh! So far I have been doing really great but I just feel like Im thinking about food a lot and constantly wondering when I can eat again and what I'll have. I guess as long as I don't cave, I can think about it all I want :tongue2:
  6. I knew a friend that had the lap-band and for one of the 5 incisions, they used her bellybutton so she would just have one less scar. I am wondering if this is common practice?? Freaks me out to even think about it lol, they will definently NOT be putting anything in my bellybutton!

    incision in bellybutton?

thanks everyone. Im sure it is a great place to hide a scar. Im just super uneasy about anything being near my bellybutton.:cursing: I guess Ill just have an extra scar elsewhere

    Average age of a Bandster?

I will be turning 23 in two weeks and getting banded the week after. I am not sure that I would have done it earlier, maybe a year earlier. I gained most of my weight after my kids and for a while I was truly convinced I could lose it on my own or at minimum stay at the same weight. Obviously it didnt work out that way so I really didnt even learn about WLS until about a year ago and within the last month Ive decided its something I need. Very excited to get my band!

    Any July Bandsters??

Pretty sure I will be having it July 1! Very excited. I am going to mexico and just have to make sure I have no issues with getting my passport and then I will buy plane tickets and be ready to go! Right now Im just nervous about everything coming together in time:willy_nilly:but I think once I have a passport and plane tickets, Ill start being more nervous about the actual surgery

Just wanna talk about the daily stuff

I am self pay and my hubby told me not to worry about the money because he would take care of it and although I believed him, I couldn't really go very far with this until I KNEW we had financing for sure, and yesterday I found out we got approved for the financing!! sooo exciting. I can really push forward and set a date and everything now. I am just waiting to find out when my mom is able to get off work because I want her to come with me. As soon as she lets me know, Ill set the date! In other news, I will be graduating college in mid september and was kind of bummed that my classmates will probably not see me lose much weight before the end of school, but then I remembered that the actual ceremony is not until a few months later (not sure of the exact date) so I will be able to surprise everyone when we come back for it!! (and wear a new dress!)

Did you cheat on Pre-Op diet?!!

I think it depends for different doctors. I was told that I only need to do a preop diet if my BMI was over 40, which its not, although its pretty close. I was told just to try to lose weight and definently not gain any but no specific instructions on how to lose it. I do plan to replace all but one meal with liquid for the 2 weeks before surgery just to really prepare my self for the postop diet though.

    Husband doesn't notice weight loss

Ok I know Im young, and Ive only been married 4 years, but a friend of mine gave me some advice of hers that I have always liked. Her husband can be very forgetful and often doesn't notice the haircut or new outfit or weight loss etc. and even forgets an important date here and there. She basically told me that she has come to know that he is that way and what to expect, and she also knows that he does genuinely care, he's just not thinking about it sometimes. So instead of sitting back and waiting and setting herself up for disappointment, she just asks, "what do you think of my hair?" or "Im so excited about our anniversary next week!" Anything to just remind him and then he responds appropriately lol Its not quite the same as the times when he notices without the prompting, but a little prompting is still better than sitting back and being totally disappointed, IMO anyways. I liked her advice so I do the same now :-) On the occasions when he doesnt notice my haircut, I just ask and he tells me he likes it and ill take that. its better than sitting there dwelling on how he didnt notice.

    Does puking always scare you?

oh cool! Good to know :Dancing_biggrin:
  15. I am pre-op but its a post-op question so hope its the right forum. Anyways, I was wondering, after having a band, is it scary every time you puke? Whenever I get sick, I usually heave (?) really bad and really hard to where my stomach gets all cramped up and it feels like ive done a million situps. It scares me to think that when I have a band, Im gonna be so afraid of it slipping! Is that what makes it slip?? Anyone have experience with that?? :Dancing_biggrin:
  16. iwannabealoser

    Does puking always scare you?

Oh I guess I should clarify. I meant more so if you have a stomach virus or flu or something where you have to really get sick. I didnt mean strictly the getting sick from too much food or not chewing enough, etc.

New and about to set my surgery date

I am going to mexicali. I would love to be band buddies but must admit that you will be my third one hehe I guess its ok to have more than one right? :Dancing_biggrin:
  19. Hello everyone! I am Jessica, 22, and from Florida. I just started this journey although have been wanting to for a year or so. I am currently setting up all my plans for getting the band in Mexico with Dr.Aceves. Very nervous and excited at the same time. The process is going so fast! We are in the process of getting financing and I am trying to set a date for early July depending on a few variables. Would LOVE to have a band buddy if anyone else is in a similar position  Also, I am not sure how to check messages on here but I am working on it hehe.

New and about to set my surgery date

Why would you think he wont let you have it? I too am a mommy of twins :-) How old are yours? Its crazy, I barely gained any weight with the pregnancy, but after I delivered, I was so use to "eating for three", that it was hard to stop. Ive gained a little over 40 lbs since i delivered them. Wishing you the best of luck with this journey! My fingers are definently crossed for you!

    Bad day. Advice needed

Thank you everyone. I really feel better reading your responses.
  22. I have been so completely hyped up about the LAP-BAND®® that I cant stop thinking about it. There are several people that I am not sure whether I will be telling them about it or not, but there is one friend I have at school that I decided to tell. Her reaction totally bummed me. I was chatting with her and she basically kept asking me questions like "Well, if you have to exercise and eat healthy anyways.. why do you need the band, cant you just save the money?" I tried to answer the question but she really caught me off guard because I wasn't expecting a negative response from her so my answer probably came out sounding dumb. She kept saying "i totally support you, but.." followed with something totally unsupportive. Mentioning how she knows so many people including herself that have lost 60 lbs or more the natural way or something about "saving the money". I told her that the money is not my concern and I tried to tell her that the LAP-BAND®® will be a great motivation and help me eat less, but I just feel like I didn't have the right words to explain to her why the LAP-BAND®® is different than just a regular diet. Anyone been though this and have some advice?? I plan to tell her that its my money and my decision and I appreciate her concern but I would also like to either have her support or if thats not possible, to just not make it a topic of conversation, but I know these questions will arise again with other people. I want to plan a good response so I dont look like a fool

New and about to set my surgery date

Thank you so much! I am honestly somewhat embarrassed that I am so young and already need this but I am just trying to not think about that because I know I need this and as much as I would like to think I can change by myself, I DO need help. Hoping for a July 1st or July 13th date :-) so excited
