  1. So does anyone ever get cotton mouth right after a fill? I had my 3rd fill yest and each time I've noticed i get cotton mouth. I'm still thirsty today and been sucking down Water like a camel lol. Also I get gassy. Now I'm not talking a lil gas I'm talking my teen aged son said he was proud of me lol. I think it was a compliment  . Then when that happens my tummy gets upset and I end up going to the bathroom. Hey just cuz my eyes are brown doesn't mean I'm full of it lol.

  2. I have no idea when it's ok to tan but i would think anytime really. as long as your incesions are healed you should be ok. it's not going to hurt the band. i plan on starting tanning here in a few wks. i need a good base tan before spring/summer gets here because i'm lily white lol. plus if you are tan you don't look as heavy. so see i think it's a good thing lol

  3. my oldest son is allergic to gluten. To put it simply, gluten is a Protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. Some signs of a reaction include:

    • Gas
    • Bloating
    • Constipation
    • Diarrhea
    • Abdominal pain
    • Unexplained weight loss
    • Anemia
    • Distended abdomen
    • Bone pain
    • Joint pain
    • Fatigue
    • Vitamin deficiencies
    • Mineral deficiencies
    • Delayed growth in children
    • Failure to thrive in infants
    • Tooth abnormalities
    • Migraines

Recognizing grains that contain gluten is the easy part. Wheat, barley, and rye are all off-limits. Experts in the United States feel oats should also be forbidden due to dangers of cross-contamination. That means the following items are usually sources of gluten (the exception would be specially-made gluten-free versions):

    • Bagels
    • Biscuits
    • Bread
    • Bread crumbs
    • Breaded fish
    • Breaded meats or poultry
    • Bread pudding
    • Cake
    • Cereal
    • chicken nuggets
    • Croissants
    • Cookies
    • Crackers
    • Croutons
    • Doughnuts
    • Dumplings
    • Flour
    • Flour tortillas
    • Fried vegetables
    • Graham crackers
    • Hamburger buns
    • Hotdog buns
    • Ice cream cones
    • macaroni
    • Melba toast
    • Muffins
    • Noodles
    • pancakes
    • Pasta
    • Pastries
    • Pie crusts
    • pizza crust
    • pretzels
    • Rolls
    • Spaghetti
    • Stuffing
    • Tabbouleh
    • Waffles

  4. Hi everyone!! Lets share with everyone what the weather is where you are at. I'll start first- :P

Today the high is to be 31 *, right now it's about 15* and hasn't warmed up much since I saw it first thing this morning. I'm in Lawton, Oklahoma. And I am freeeeeezing to death lol.

So whats it like where you are at?

  5. At my last drs appt we had this conversation. i swore i was going to go bald lol and i told him that just wasn't a good look for me. :-) he told me he didn't noticed the Hair loss but said it usually stops about 6 months out. said it's from rapid weight loss, hormone flucations, maybe not enough Protein, stress and many other things. said not to worry about it unless the hair wasn't growing back and then we'd look into it. but i am happy to report i have nice new short hair growing back in. you can take the Biotin but make sure it will pass through the band without getting stuck. on the protein here is what i have found out-- The standard method used by nutritionists to estimate our minimum daily protein requirement is to multiply the body weight in kilograms by .8, or weight in pounds by .37. This is the number of grams of protein that should be the daily minimum. According to this method, a person weighing 150 lbs. should eat 55 grams of protein per day, a 200-pound person should get 74 grams, and a 250-pound person should eat 92 grams. hope that helps.

  6. I actually said i wasn't going to bake either but yest i did. but i also had the kiddos help me and we are giving most of it away. we make chocolate chip cookies- i ate a small one and felt like i was going to throw up, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered almonds, dark chocolate cream cheese fudge, chocolate fudge, german chocolate fudge and puppy chow. i figured it would be alot harder but it really wasn't for me. we had fun listening to the radio and dancing around.

  7. i have struggled so much this year!! we lost my father in law in february to alzheimers. i had my band surgery in may. then in july i lost my only sister. we were twins. she was a recovering alcoholic and was bipolar. it's been very very difficult for me. ok it's been diffcult for everyone who lives in this house. the kiddos weren't dealing well with anything at all so i have them both going to therapy. my youngest has adhd and they wouldn't give him meds without him seeing a physcartic and she suggested he go for therapy. my oldest is angry at everything. my hubby also goes to therapy due to the fact he has anger probs and it's hard for him to cope with it somedays. i suspect his has ptsd and we found out this past week he also has mild sleep apnea. i am seriously dreading the holidays this yr. i was happy we made it through thanksgiving lol. now gearing up for christmas. it's just not in me. i thought decorating would help and i went overboard on lights and garland in this house. we could land a 747 in here lol. but it is very pretty!!! i put on my happy face and smile and it does help- to a point. i figured there are less fortunate people in this would then me and i should just pick myself up and move on. i have my health, my family and i am still alive and breathing. so instead of looking at all the negative in my life i am trying to look at the positive things.Worry is like a rocking chair--it gives you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere." same this for negativity and feeling blue. sure in the world doesn't get you anywhere...

  8. I have met with the patient advocate here at Leavenworth. While she was very nice, she was not much help. She did talk to the higher ups at Triwest, who told her that my appeal was under review and it looked like a strong appeal, but it could take 30-60 days to get resolved. It is just frustrating, because I have done everything asked of me and they are still taking their own sweet time. We did indeed move from Trisouth to Triwest and that is the problem. I was approved for 14 fills/visits before we left Texas.

and how long has it been since they started the review? that is absurd!!! hope there isn't a real great BIG EMERGENCY!! shouldn't all tricares be the same? just split up so one west, south, north isn't all bombarded at once? my advocate here wasn't much help either and thats why i went over her head. we just happened to go to a conference and they had venders there and humana tricare was there so i thought hey what can i loose lol. just so happened it was the director. my prob is that they wouldn't give me a second opinion and denied me after i met ALL requirements and they woudn't let me talk to the dr in charge of my case, they also lost all my paperwork and toldme i had to start all over. they HAVE to give you a second opinion and it has to be done off post. i just found out a few wks ago that they stoppped all lap-band surgeries here at ft sill, oklahoma because they have had so many complaints and too many ppl coming back with probs. so now everyone is being seen off post. automatic off post referrals. i wish you luck. and me personally i'd start bugging the crap out of them. and i'd go down to the referral office. talk to someone and explain to them that you need the referral because you are starting to have probs. yes lie a touch if you need to- how are they going to know??? lol hey it can't hurt.

  9. i agree with what you are saying. some drs actually put a fill in when they place the band. i guessing that they are already starting you out with some sort of restriction but i would also think the swelling should be enough. i didn't get my first fill till i went back for my 6 wk check up. it was 4 cc. i didn't get my second fill till about 5 wks ago. so in my 6 months of this journey i have only had 2 fills and i only have 4.5 cc's. i don't feel that i need anymore. i really wonder if some ppl when they say they are hungry and can eat more then the recommened about of fod they automatically think they need a fill. part of it is head hunger and part of it is they need to retrain themselves to eat smaller portions. so it's not fun when you see everyone eating whatever they want and as much as they want. but you have to have some sort of self control. my dr won't give a fill if you 'think' you need one. you have to be 100% postive that you need one and then he will question you if you are hungry in between meals or hungry 2-3 hrs after a meal. i was told to drink Water or to eat an apple. you can have sensible Snacks. i've always wondered the same thing well ifyou keep getting fills then what happens if you have the max amount and you are still hungry. perhaps it's not enough Protein, head hunger or just plain ol boredom. your new pouch isn't all that big and i just dont see how anyone can eat more then the recmomened amount of food- i'd feel like i needed to throw up and i'd be misserable. but i know everyone is different. ok just my 2 cents worth. whats everyone else's opinions on this?

  10. holidays are just really stressing me out- we have had 2 deaths this yr and it's just hard right now. and kids and everyday normal things just compound everything together. hot tea really helps. yest i decided since my tummy was hurting yet again that the day was going to be about me and to be as relaxing as possible. it worked some but i know it's not all going to go away in a few hrs. going to take some time. for some reason i never thought to just stop eatting and have a Protein Shake. i just kept trying to eat. thanks for that reminder. :)

  11. Well, it has been several months since I wrote this post and I am still fighting with Triwest. They have yet to approve my fills, even though they have been sent all the paperwork they could possibly need to show them that I had the surgery and it was paid for by tricare. My dr's office has told me that if I don't get it straightened out soon, I will have to go self-pay, because they have already had to eat the cost of two fills, because tricare would not approve the charges. It is very frustrating!!!

just a suggestion since you can't get anything done on the phone or with your dr and the paperwork, how abou going down to the tricare office in the hosp and talking to them. they can tell you what to do and also i would go over to the referral office and talk to them. if you still can't get anything done go talk to the patient advocate. yes just to get the band i had to do all of that. and i ended up speaking to the director of tricare south in person. i didn't care at that point but heads were going to roll. something i just noticed you had tricare and now you have triwest? and this is because you moved correct?

  12. I need some help quick. I received my 3rd fill Tuesday, just two weeks after my 2nd. I was able to eat more than I should and have only lost 3.5 pounds in 5 weeks(which is the time since of my first fill) so I felt it was time. I don't eat carbs, junk, sugar, etc. I really am being very good with food(for once!). So Tuesday I get my fil of .8cc's which brings me up to 4.3cc's. I was on liquids Tuesday and part of Wednesday. Ever since the fill I have had pain with virtually every sip and bite and I am sliming and throwing up all the time. The only things I have totally kept down in 4 days in yogurt, Protein shakes, Soup, and tiny bites of chicken(which I then threw up this afternoon). Throwing up Water is concerning me because I am drinking so little this week which is not normal for me. I am a huge Water drinker and now I am hardly getting any in at all. Why does it hurt with each bite? I chew well, choose 'safe' foods, don't drink while eating. Ugh! This just sucks. I was in tears last night because I couldn't lay down until my damn water quit causing me pain going down. This morning I though I got a repreive with my Muscle Milk. No problems at all. Then later on I threw up some chicken, and a bunch of water.. Am I way too tight or do I need to head back to liquids for a few days and let my stomach adjust? I'm all for rapid weight loss, but this isn't the way to do it. It's taking a toll on me as well because I am tired, feel weak, and even my neighbor asked if I was ok because she said I didn't look so well.

    Thanks,

    Melissa

it sounds like you are to tight. if you don't drink you will get dehydrated. have you called your dr? if not i'd call rght now and leave a mssg and have him call you back. can you go to the amergency room?

  13. wow oh wow does it ever make it tight!! this happened last night too after hubs and i got into a discussion. tonight again from listening to the boys fight and carry on, plus i am trying to work out a few things in my head that are kinda sad to me. so now i am trying to relax and drink some hot tea. so it really is true that stress will make it tighter. its kinda throbbing but feeling some better.

  14. Well if you are concerned about going to the bathroom go get some milk of magnesia and take it. works wonders and usually withing 30 mins to 6 hrs. also you aren't eating enough calories. how many grams of Protein are you getting per day? your body thinks you are starving it so it's went into feast or famon and so it's storing everything you eat. are you on mushies or sold food? what do you normally eat in a day?
