Somebody help get me through today and tomorrow, banding wednesday!! Last week I just couldnt concentrate and was just nervous, since this past Thursday i cant quit crying about every little thing and everything I eat just goes right through me. My husband told me to call the doctor but I dont want to. I think Im scared he will say maybe we should cancel the surgery for a while. Hal I hope you read this...i couldnt figure out how to respond to you. Sorry

Thanks Sue, but nooo im not on a liquid diet. My doc didn't put me on a preop diet at all. So, maybe I should switch to liquids today just to see if that helps with the stomach issues. Thanks again, Sherri

From what my surgeon has told me with the gastric if you gain your weight back you are on your on. With the band if you gain some weight back you make an appointment and get a fill before its out of control. I have 2 friends that had gastric and the went back and got banded because they couldnt keep the weight off.Plus with the band you lose slower and that makes it alot easier to be tone and fit with exercise.

We have a weight watchers scale that we got at bed bath and beyond and it weighs up to 400 pds. I think it was about $45.00. It has all the bells and whistles but we don't use them. It does save the previous weight for up to 3 people. Hope this helps.

Last friday I was riding 8 hours to my father in laws funeral and whining about how my much I was gonna miss him and how the insurance company wasnt gonna approve my surgery, really having a pity party and my husband said Sherri just call them. I have United Health care also. It had been 2 weeks since the paper work had been submitted. The lady on the other end was very nice but she said Im sorry honey but I dont see where your paper work had been sent for approval. I was fuming, she said hold on let me check somewhere else. then again sorry honey, I was about in tears.She said you know we just changed software last week let me check the old system....Then she comes back with "Congratulations Honey you have been approved"!! I told her she was my angel.:thumbup:

My motivations: * To get off of all of the BP meds *I have always wanted to run. My goal is the cooper river bridge run in charleston south carolina. I also want to get some jeans from Gap and Tommy Hilfiger.Ive never been able to fit in them. Not even in high school. Boy Im gonna shop now, I told my husband hes gonna have to get a second job just to pay for all of my new clothes and shoes. LOL My husband and I moved to the beach about 10 years ago and Ive never been ever to feel comfortable wearing a bathing suit. This motivation is for my husband who is awsome and deserves to be able to walk on the beach with his wife not his whale.

Thats right you can not be denied for that after you're approved. My doctor did not put me on a preop diet either. I asked him why and he said he only does that if your BMI is above 55 or 60.My BMI at docs appt was 42 now a month later its about 45 cause Im nervous about surgery and been eating everything in sight. Cutting out all carbs before makes it easier for the surgeon to operate if your liver is not as big and not eating carbs will shrink it but you have to do NO CARBS. I personally dont think (with your BMI where it is) you have anything to worry about. Good Luck, Im right behind you on the 14th.

Almost everybody that I've told that I was having my lapband has said first thing "oh you are gonna get a divorce if you do" they have said it so much that now my husband is starting to wonder about what if it happens. Im 46 and hes turning 50 we have been together since I was 13 and he was 17. LOL I really dont think he has anything to worry about. The way I see it is he stuck with me when I was up to 285 pounds and any husband that can love me at that weight sure deserves me at 140 pounds. ME AND MY BABY THROUGH THICK AND THROUGH THIN!!!

Just found out today, Im scheduled for surgery July 14th. One month from tomorrow..

I was feeling pretty good about my surgery then I read a post where someone was talking about her GI scope. Nobody told me anything about a scope going down my throat. Now Im freaking out. I have always had a fear that someday I would have to have that done. Somebody please tell me that is only for people that have some sort of GI symptoms.:confused:

We can not tell you if you should or should not get the surgery only you know whats right for you but I can tell you this. I myself (like you) am 5'3'' and this morning I was 251 pounds. Im 46 years old. I hope 23 years from now you are not reading these posts and wishing like me I had done it when I was 23. Ive wasted so many years yoyoing up and down and being soo miserable with my weight.Good luck with which ever you decide to do but remember you only get one chance at life make it a great one.
