  1. Are you keeping up with your fills? If your hungry after 30 minutes of eating you may need one.
  2. laurigee

    not so good

Why do you feel you need another 2 weeks? I would talk to your surgeon if your in that much pain!
  3. laurigee

    meds

Make sure that all your meds are safe to be crushed. There are extended release meds and pain meds that should NEVER be crushed!!!!

    Cant get much down.

I also think I would call your surgeon before the weekend! Fills can be so funny, even though it was 6 weeks ago, it could still be possible if you take a little out you would feel better. Hope everything is okay and you start feeling better soon!

    Worried that I messed up.

I wouldn't waste my time worrying about it! Chances are everything is fine! Don't waste energy on things that are over with and no longer in your control! I will say that you are not the first or will be the last to have done this! In the future remember how upset you were thinking about doing damage to your band. This might help you to avoid slip ups in the future! Relax, everything will be fine.

    Cant get much down.

Some people like myself have to drink something warm in the morning to kind of wake up their band! I've had to do this for 6 years. If I tried to eat a banana in the morning before drinking my hot chocolate, even though I have no fluid in my band, it wouldn't go down! The band is also very unpredictable and you could go one day without being able to eat something and the next day you'll be able to eat it! Even your monthly cycle can make a difference in how your band feels! Hang in there!
  7. When is the last time you had a fill? I got off track when I started missing appointments because of family tragedies! I made an appointment in March to see if I can get a little more help from my band!
  8. I have! I lost over 100 pounds and gained back 40. Now I have recently lost 16, hopefully I'm back on track!

    Heartburn!!

If it continues it is definitely worth a call to your doctor! You definitely could be to tight if this didn't exsist before the fill. I would give it a few days! Good luck and I hope you start feeling better soon
  10. It's refreshing to hear! You obviously realize that it's not a quick fix! I think a lot of people say they don't expect it to be, but by their posts i think they might be fibbing! Your enjoying the process and don't have unrealistic expectations! That is definitely a sign of someone that is going to be successful! Congratulations on your current success and continued success!

    insurance that covers bariatric

Yikes, that sucks! My insurance didn't pay for bariatrics and I was self-pay and this is one of my biggest fears! I had 3 jobs to save up for the first one, I don't know what I would do if I was in your position! I don't have any answers for you, but I hope you find an insurance company! So sorry!
  12. Why are you being so hard on yourself? In a short period of time you have had more crap happen than most people could handle! You recognized what you did and are putting yourself back on track! Unfortunately, emotional eating can't be fixed with the band! Did you get hungry between meals prior to the fire? When I have slipped of the wagon I go back to liquids for a day then mushies for a day or two. This seems to make my band feel tighter again, or at least the way it did before I indulged. Life is not easy for you right now but try not to make it worse by sabotaging yourself with food. Its a temporary feeling that leads to permanant consequences! Feeling worse about yourself is only going to make it harder for you to put things back together. Strong mind, strong body! You need them both right now! You and your family will be in my prayers!

I want to do my walks!!!

Every day you'll be able to go a little farther and feel a little better. Keep up the good work!

4th fill and suddenly no restriction

Are you logging everything you eat? Do you stay within a certain amount of calories per day? Do you get enough protien? Do you exercise? How many hours can you go between meals without feeling hungry? Do you drink enough Water? I'm cracking up as I'm typing this, i feel like I'm interrogating you! Lol

    Not Eating Enough

I agree with parisshel. I also think that once your able to eat foods that appeal to you you'll feel totally different! You said that your not eating because your choices don't appeal to you not because your afraid to eat because you may gain some weight! Two totally different things! It's great that your being compliant with your doctors instructions on food choices. I have seen many people crack and start eating things they shouldn't. It's truly a toss up, is overeating and eating the wrong foods any better than not eating at all? Probably not! Neither is the ideal! Just my opinion but I think your very tuned into yourself and aware that not eating is not a long term solution to weight loss. So stay aware as you graduate into your next stage and see how it goes. If your anything like a lot of us you will come back once you can eat normally and ask how you can contol your hunger because you want to eat everything. Then we will reply letting you know that this is normal until you get the correct amount of fluid in your band!LOL. Good luck and keep us posted how it's going!
  16. We could all keep guessing! LOL... I think the only one that can give us the answer is the doctor! Please ask and let us know what he says!

    Procedure choice

To be honest, I have a commitment phobia when it comes to losing weight! I didn't want to alter anything or permanently change things even if it meant losing weight! Plus, in the back of my mind, way back(lol), I was wondering if I could do it! There were so many other things out there that people have tried and been successful, however, I always seemed to fail! This was my saving grace! To be able to accept help in a way that was more drastic than diet pills but less drastic than by-pass. To be able to have it removed if I wanted or needed to in the future and not suffer permanent consequences physically. It was the perfect answer for me that landed right in the middle of all other choices! I haven't been perfect and the band hasn't been perfect, but when we work together we seem to be a great team!
  19. Jim the wedding ring statement cracked me up! I can picture your wife using a role of tape to keep it on your finger! For us woman as the fingers get smaller our diamond starts to look larger! A positive thing for any man whose wife is losing weight that has been asking for a larger diamond!

    I just don't get it!

Okay, let's just cut to the chase here! Going to the gym 3-4 days a week doing cardio for 30 min and nautilus machines are not going to gain that much muscle in that amount of time! I'm not trying to be rude, but why does everyone say muscle weighs more than fat to try to make others feel better! I have had plateaus and setbacks also, but I have never seen the scale move upwards during a muscle weighs more than fat period! Make sure you track your food, make smart food choices, maybe increase the length of your workout and up it's intensity. Stick with it! You should be patting yourself on the back for going to the gym! Isn't it about a healthy body or is it just about the numbers on the scale?! If your working out, no matter what the scale says your getting heathier! You can be unhealthy and thin and you will have accomplished nothing! Remember the goal is health, you need to keep going to the gym and put the scale away for a while! It can mess with us and even cause us to fail by not showing us what we expect! Don't let that little square object determine your future or judge your progress! That is my rant! I don't mean to offend anyone, I just get upset that we think the scale measures our success! I am guilty of this obsession and trying very hard everyday to take my power back! I will no longer bow down to it! Amen! That concludes my service! LOL
  21. Don't feel bad about the surgery being postponed! Be happy that you started the process and that the doctors have possibly discovered something that would not have been found if not for having the surgery! Our goal is health! Figuring out why you have low platelet levels is the first step! As for plication, ask her why she feels this way! After she explains her concerns you may feel the same way she does! And you did say she said she didn't want to do it, she didn't say she wouldn't! Good luck and keep us posted on your outcome!
  22. Im so sorry to hear that your having so much trouble! Lung issues are nothing to take lightly, I can't imagine what it is like to try to exercise! Have you seen anyone else to see if there is anything else going on that is not band related? I feel horrible for you!
  23. Congratulations! You need to remember your excitement about your perfect blood pressure in the future when you may get discouraged about the scale not moving as fast as you want it to! There are a lot of things that measure success and it's not always the numbers on the scale! You have just had your first success story! Keep up the good work, I have a feeling your going to get the hang of this really quick!

    Pregnant!!!!

Wow, baby #4! Congratulations! That's a lot of work! You won't need the band running after 4 kids! LOL. I only have 2 and it wore me out! One of my babies turn 21 on the 21st of October, it a great month! Congratulations again, there is no time that is more exciting than expecting a new baby!
  25. Of course! Your going to go through so many emotions during this journey! In the beginning you may even question why you went through it! If you've done your research and was confident enough to make the appointment I think your ready! It's a different lifestyle! A healthier more active you! Take a deep breath and jump in with both feet! I will say a prayer for you tomorrow for a safe surgery and a speedy recovery! Let us know how it goes!
