    Shoulder Pain

For some reason I still have the shoulder pain when I eat something that doesn't agree with me or I overeat. It goes directly to my shoulder. A heating pad and a few gas-x are my saviors.

    diet help

Smita...Don't get discouraged this early in the game. During your journey one week will be great for weight loss the next you may gain or not even lose a pound. There are alot of ups and downs and you just have to roll with it. Since your doing everything your suppose to your body just has to catch up with the new program. I eat about 800-1200 calories a day and always eat protien first. I know you will do great because I can tell you are focused. Good Luck and just be patient!

    Doughy Stomach

Ladies lets face it I think it is the age. We are all around the same age and my twin sister, who has never been overweight, had gained a whopping 15 pounds and was complaining to me the other nite about her doughey stomach. She said it has never been like that before. And when she lost the weight she experienced this wonderful phenomonon. The nice thing is that it even happens to the "once perfect" people like her.LOL. As long as mine doesn't hand and looks good in clothes I think like Jachut, I can live with it. I too, will not be in a bikini any time real soon.(Never). I too will be turning 40 on July 31st, and my goal for the next 10 years is health.

    September Bandsters

MimIN: Congratulations! I had an american eskimo when I was younger that would give me a workout like that daily. Maybe I should have kept him and I would have stayed thin. Size 14 that's awesome! I seem to be stuck in my 16's. Better than 22+ though.

    Post-Op & beyond energy level

Hi...Not that I am an expert, I've only been banded since September. I have noticed that when I follow the protien first band rule for each meal I have more energy than I did before surgery. You are restricted in food but the quality of food has increased (at least for me) alot. I'm sure I get more energy from my chicken breast meal than I did from my big mac meal before surgery. Now I exercise 5-7 days a week, I can't say I had that energy before the band. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

    Stupid Question

I just gave my opinion I guess after being on this site for the past few months I should realize If MY OPINION is different then the majority I should expect to get attacked. I GET IT!!!!! My new Opinion. HAVE THE SURGERY, IT IS THE MOST PAINFUL EXPERIENCE YOU WILL EVER GO THROUGH. YOGA (REAL YOGA) WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR PROBABLY THE NEXT 10 YEARS. MAKE UP AN EXCUSE EVEN IF YOU FEEL GREAT, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT EVERYONE SAYS. LOL

Hard Time With Pre Op Diet

All you can do is your best. Remember nobody is perfect. I too, had the pre-op diet for 2 weeks before surgery. Surprisingly, I was able to stick to it. Alot of people don't have to do a pre-op diet. Different doctors, different opinions. I still experience the head hunger and often am not able to control myself from overeating. The head hunger is the worst. Again, all we can do is our best. "Good Luck Everyone"

    Hi everyone!

Everyones experiences are different. I never had any problems with the surgery, actually never had any pain. So for me to say that it's not worth a chance, I definately couldn't say that. Maybe the person who called you is alot like myself and never dealt with the reasons for overeating and still do so after the band. I still eat past comfortable. Alot of people don't have that problem after the band. I have not lost alot of weight since my surgery (46lbs.) but I would never probably have done it without the band. I think you are doing the right thing for yourself and within the next few months we will be hearing your story. Don't be scared, it is just another page in your life and no one can guarentee the outcome so ENJOY the good and accept the bad. If it helps at all, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Good Luck

    Introductions:

Welcome...Congratulations on your decision. Remember when reading others experiences that EVERYONE is different. Even if you read something and 98% of the people have experienced the same results doesn't mean that is going to be your experience. Always remember listen to YOUR body. Good Luck on your Journey and Welcome to a great place to get to know alot of new people and be supported all the way.

    Stupid Question

I push mow four acres and we live on a hill overlooking the lake so I'm sure it probably isn't as strenuous as yoga! MY BAD

    Stupid Question

I'm going to have to be the odd girl out. I had my surgery on Tuesday and mowed and weedeated my lawn on Wednesday. I started walking 1-2 miles immediately. I had no pain at all, just a little tired. I did have the shoulder pain from gas however, which I still suffer from today. EVERYONE is different and you will soon come to learn quickly that you can't compare yourself to anyone, you have to listen to your own body. Don't push to do what the other person does or don't sabotage yourself by thinking your experience will be the same. This will be your new lifestyle and your going to have to stay in tune with YOUR body. Good Luck and I wish you all the best.

    Panic Eating

The only thing that I would suggest about the pre-op diet is if you are addicted to caffine and sugar, get rid of it before surgery. I had the worse headaches for the first 3 or 4 days from withdrawl. I don't think I would have been very happy if I had this right after surgery. Just remember it is only 2 weeks, I knew I could do anything for that short period of time. You may go through the same experience again a week after surgery. Or at least I did until I could eat soup. Which tasted better than any cheeseburger at the time. Make your foods quality when you do eat, soda, even a couple sips isn't healthy and don't get me started on lunchables. I've noticed the more healthy the food the less hungry I feel. You will have to learn it's not the size of the portion, it's the nutritional value. Something I wasn't very aware of before. Good Luck and stay positive and everything will be fine. YOU CAN DO IT!

    September Bandsters

MimIN... I am in the same club as you this week "0" loss. Even though I had surgery in Oct. for women issues, I no longer get my monthly but for some reason I still bloat, swell, get stomach cramps, and gain weight during that time of month. Hopefully next week will be better for both of us.
  16. I have fibromyalgia and I have noticed that when I have a flair up if I continue to exercise but at a much lower level I seem to get through the flair up faster than when I just stop exercising all together. It is painful but for some reason it works. Then your not starting over from scratch with exercise every time you have a flair up.
  17. Liquids just flow through the stomach. You shouldn't have any restriction when you are still on full liquid. When you add soup and other thicker liquids you will notice some difference.Good Luck

    Pysch eval/self pay

I was self pay and had to have a psych. exam. I wish they would have asked me more questions about why I overeat and dealt with why I am a compulsive overeater instead of worrying whether I'm crazy or not. Do I "hear voices" NO! Do I hear the cake calling me from in the kitchen? YES, YES, YES!

    Advice for bandsters

Sherrijo....My husband gets kidney stones constantly. He has had them lazored 3 times in the last 5 years. His are soo big that they blast them before they leave the kidney. Passing all the small fragments kill him. Have the doctors analized the stones? My husbands were from caffine. He hasn't had another since he stopped mountain dew and iced tea. He never drank water. He would go through 6 or more cans of mountain dew a day. I know that they are very very painful and I hope that you get rid of these darn things. Take care of yourself.

    Bulimic looking at Banding

First...the band is WONDERFUL for helping control bulimia because you physically can't binge anymore. It has been amazing in that regard. Even if I want to binge, I can't I wish that this was the case for me. I still binge! The only difference that the band has made is that I get much sicker than I did before. A true bulimic or binging is not going to be cured or helped by the band, you just figure out away around it! And believe me there are many ways around the band. Lying to yourself or your surgeon isn't the answer. Its just another lie in the long list of lies we have been telling ourselves since we started our distructive behavior. This is just an opinion from one person who has been there and is stilll living it. I'm sure many won't agree. I just want you to see every side. Again, Good Luck

    Bulimic looking at Banding

Go to someone and talk about your problem. The band will not help your compulsive behavior. I know! I was anorexic and bulimic from 17-25yrs old. I then became an obsessive overeater when I lost my first baby due to dehydration in my 3rd month of pregnancy. The habits don't end with the band. I have an appointment to see a counselor next week. I refuse to let my bad habits ruin my life. If something would happen to my band tomorrow I would be in the same position I started in. And with my compulsive overeating I could very likely do something to my band soon. Realize that we are not looking for a sensation of "full" its something far different. Good Luck, If you get help before the band it will only enhance the results you will get in the end

    whats making you sucessful

I wouldn't be considered a fast loser, but I feel I have had success. I have just recently started being aware of leading a healthier lifestyle. Which means exercise (which is not my favorite) at least 6 days a week. Which is the treadmill for an hour a day. And making healthy food choices. I want the band to help me get into healthy habits so if someday (god forbid) something happens to my band I have changed my head enough that I don't regain every pound I've lost because my habits didn't change. Was that just a speach. SORRY! This sounds like the perfect world doesn't it.LOL

    Afraid I won't feel full!

I felt full right away after surgery. I have only had 2 fills to this point and my surgery was in September. I think maybe alot of people get too many fills too fast so they don't feel hunger much at all. Then when they do eat they are not eating the correct food. Myself, I have tried to work out my issues with food. The reality is that the band is to help you lead a healthier lifestyle and if you have problems with exercise to get you to lose enough weight to introduce that into your lifestyle. I have learned hunger is natural. Approach it in the way that if you lost your band tomorrow your bad eating habits and lifestyle wouldn't cause you to regain every pound you lost. Sorry for the speach, but I see too many people just relying on the band to do the work for them and I just want newbies to get off on the right track. Everyone slips up once in a while but make this the beginning of the new healthy you! Good Luck and don't worry everything will turn out AWESOME!

Hi Ladies....Just weighing in today. I am down 6 pounds this week. Who would have thought that exercising every day for an hour these last 2 weeks would finally pay off. If it wasn't for this challenge I don't think I would have kicked it up. I love a challenge and moving the exercise ticker everyday is really an insentive for me. Who would figure something so simple would be my motivation. Thank you girls for your help! :clap2:
